EMPLOYMENT POLICE ASSISTANT www.sparkspolice.com Description of DUTIES • Prepares, researches, investigates and completes police reports filed by citizens in person, via the internet, and over the phone. Relieves sworn police officers of non- hazardous police-related duties. • Acts as a liaison between the community and the police department, while performing duties that require sound judgment and attention to detail. • Receives and screens visitors and telephone calls to provide information or options for those needing assistance. • Handles issues that may require sensitivity and the use of sound independent judgment; conducts research, responds to requests for information, refers the request or complaint to appropriate staff, and takes or recommends action to resolve the issue; greets and directs visitors. QUaLIFICatIOns• Mustbeaminimumof18yearsofagebythefinalfilingdate.

• Highschooldiplomaorequivalent and two(2)yearsofemploymentexperience,whichincludessubstantialpubliccontactandgeneralofficesupportwork. 

• Mustnothavehadanyfelonyconvictions. 

• MustpossessavalidNevadaClassCdriver’slicenseandhaveanacceptabledrivingrecord. 

• Mustbeabletotypeaccuratelyattherateof40networdsperminute.

Experience Guidelines:

• Experienceinalawenforcementenvironmentandindetailedrecord-keepingarepreferred.Bilingualskillsarepreferred.

Licenses and Certificates:

• MustobtainNCIC/NCJIScertificationwithinsix(6)monthsofhire.Trainingisprovided,butemployeeisresponsiblefortestingandreceivingcertification.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
