We are extremely pleased to let you know that she was very successful placing as follows: Friday: 1 st Rider / 2 nd Show Horse / 6 th Handler 2 nd In State overall Saturday: 1 st Dressage Preliminary 1.2 / 2 nd Dressage Novice 2.2 Sunday: 1 st Dressage Preliminary 1.3 / 1 st Dressage Novice 2.3 Champion Dressage Overall in Primary Jaimie-Lee has qualified to join the NSW State Team to compete at Nationals in Melbourne.Congratulations Jamie-Lee! Colour Run I would like to thank our E-Learning Team for their excellent organisation of last Friday’s ‘Colour Run’. The sun came out at just the right time allowing everyone to enjoy the afternoon activities. As a result of this initiative (and your support) we have raised (at last count) $9500 which should give us enough money to purchase another 16 iPads. I would like to finish with the words of one of our students who were kind enough to send our E- Learning team a ‘thank you’ card. Dear Mr Lewis and the E-Learning Team thank you for organising such a wonderful activity for us. I think all the students had heaps of fun. Please, can we do it again next year? Anushka Oliver the musical I also received this lovely email acknowledging the success of the BWSC musical ‘Oliver’: I just wanted to congratulate the staff and students involved in the Brisbane Water Secondary College production of ‘Oliver’ last week. I attended the Friday evening show and was very impressed with the show, set design and coordination of the show in general. Logistically it must have been a huge effort to involve all schools in the Peninsula but from where I was sitting…it was well worth the effort. My son was also involved in the show and I know he has been on cloud nine for days as a result of his own personal achievements in the production. Again, congratulations to all involved, and I look forward to the next production on offer by Brisbane Water Secondary College. Michelle W My thanks also go to our staff and students who gave many hours to supporting this production. Staffing T3 Update The beginning of the new term brings with it some staffing changes that I can now share with you: - Mrs Dent returns to our front office from LSL (Day 1, T3), - Mrs South returns from her secondment to KS (Day 1, T3), - Mrs Oliver returns from Mat. Leave to class 1O x 3 days per week (Wed, Thur & Fri each week) job sharing with Mrs Bruce (Mon & Tues each week), - Mrs Ballard returning x 1 additional day per week (Mon & Fri each week) job sharing with Mrs Eastwood, and - Mrs D Leslie will be taking extended LSL from beginning of Wk. 6, T3. To each of the staff members who have relieved for our permanent staff, I would like to thank you for your efforts and acknowledge the outstanding job you have done in your relieving capacity: Mrs Caller (office), Mrs Gordon (KS) and Mrs Archer (rel. AP). Term 3 School Development Day Our next school development day (SDD) will be held on Monday 14 th July, 2014. After lunch, our Stage 3 staff will then travel to the Umina Campus to complete their day’s training whilst the rest finish the day at the Woy Woy Campus. School Holiday Wishes As Friday marks the last day of Term 2 and the beginning of the July holiday break, I would like to take this opportunity to wish everyone in our school community a safe, relaxing and enjoyable break. On Monday a small group of Empire Bay students participated in the Festival of Instrumental Music Opera House concert. Jacques E, Mitchell M, Joel M and Nick C have been working hard to learn their recorder pieces for the last few months. This amazing concert involves over 700 recorder players and 300 violinists, and is staged in the magnificent Sydney Opera House Concert Hall. The festival helps young students develop their rehearsal and performance skills, learn ensemble etiquette

and improve their musicianship. At the same time it showcases some of the most outstanding musical groups in New South Wales public schools today. Some recorder pieces were specially commissioned for the concert and the composers were present at rehearsals and performances. All four of the students who attended are also members of the Empire Bay Public School band, so they were particularly thrilled to see and hear the wonderful performances from the NSW Public Schools State Senior Wind Band, The NSW Public Schools Jazz Orchestra, the Ashbury Public School Concert Band and the NSW Public Schools Percussion Ensemble. Thank you Mrs Shaw for giving up so many lunchtimes to help the boys rehearse. It was certainly worth it. All the students played well, represented our school beautifully and had a great time. Stage 2 Maitland Bay Excursion

Stage 2 have been learning about National Parks and on Monday we visited Bouddi National Park. We walked on a bush trail to Maitland Bay Beach. We learned about a ship wreck and that’s how Maitland Bay got its name. It is a sad story but very interesting. We then went on another trail to Putty Beach. We had a great tour guide to show us around. His name was Mark. We had a fascinating time. Year 4 get to do it tomorrow. By Charli and Riley from Yr 3 Senior Boys Rugby League

Yesterday the Senior Boys Rugby League team played in the All Schools Gala Carnival at Toukley in very windy conditions. They had a fantastic day winning all three of their draw games against Gorokan, Wamberal and Woy Woy. They won their semi-final against Valley View and went into the Central Coast final against Berkeley Vale. Their defence was outstanding with only one try being scored in the game to Berkeley Vale. Each finals team was able to choose a Player of the Game ours went to Sandon S for his consistent effort. I am very proud of the boy's team work and dedication. Thank you very much to Mr Healey and Mr Smith for coaching and training the team and to all of the parents who were able to assist with transportation. Training will resume next term on Wednesday of Week 2 at 8.00am. Mrs Dempsey
