The competition was held at Hampstead Secondary School and had five unique rounds, all of which involved teamwork and solving problems under timed conditions. Out of 16 local schools, Emmanuel came 3rd! We are very proud of the children that took part: Hana, Kyle, Elianna and Lucas. Summing up the day Hana said, "It was very challenging but good fun" and Elianna commented, "You really had to read the questions carefully. We were hoping to come in the top ten so we're really happy that we came third." Dear Parents/ Carers, We had a focus on ‘E-safety and becoming digital citizens’ throughout the school this week. As you know from recent news reports children being fully aware of how to stay safe when using computers and online is of vital importance. We teach this throughout the year, not just in our themes week, and it is a big part of the new Computing curriculum. Key Stage 1 and 2 took part in a fun workshop which highlighted many important aspects of how to keep safe when using the internet, mobile phones and computer consoles. Please see below for some of their quotes. The parent workshop I led last week for parents is also on the ‘Parent Workshop’ page of our website so do take the time to read this. I will lead another session in the Spring Term. If you have any questions or concerns regarding your child’s use of internet or anything else of this nature please do speak to myself as Child Protection and Safeguarding Designated Person or Ms Przybylska as our Computing Leader. Kind regards, Miss Fitzsimmons 'I learnt that you shouldn't chat online to friends that you don't know. Applying for a Reception place for September 2015? Parents whose children are starting Reception classes in Camden primary schools in September 2015 need to apply by 15th January. Parents or carers can apply online at www.eadmissions.org.uk – and they can name up to six primary schools in the preferences. ‘Starting school in Camden 2015’, the new guide to applying for reception places in our schools is now available on the Council’s website camden.gov.uk/admissions. Parents of children currently in our Diamond Nursery class, please remember you MUST apply for a Reception place for your child. You DO NOT get automatic entry from Diamond to Ruby.

Road Safety

Please speak to your children about crossing the road safely. We do this in school through our PHSE lessons and assemblies but it is always good to remind them. We have a zebra crossing at the end of Mill Lane which should always be used to keep everyone safe on the road. We spoke to Camden Local Authority last year regarding a School Crossing Patrol at Mill Lane, adjacent to our school, for which a site assessment was undertaken. Unfortunately it did not meet the necessary requirements using the safety GB guidelines for assessing the provision of a school crossing patrol. We will speak to Camden again and keep you informed.

Come along to support the children! Wednesday 17th December – 10am Infant Choir Singing at the O2 Finchley Road. Come along to support the children! A reminder for those of you who have not yet done so - please return the Music Surveys that were previously sent out. Many thanks.

‘Christmas Jar’ Homework Please look out for the special homework this week which has been set in conjunction with the PFE. We would like children to get a clean jar (jam jar, sauce jar etc) or box or suitable tin (no sharp edges etc) and fill it with something enticing! (NB: WE ARE A NUT FREE SCHOOL - please do not use any containers that used to hold nuts or nut products). The vessel could be filled with: sweets, (new or clean) hair accessories, miniature toys, costume jewellery, loose change, beads, unused crayons or pencils, bath products (bombs, confetti, gels etc.). It may also include items that you might get at a party bag (balloons, bouncy balls, bubble mix, rubbers, pencils, mini notebooks, Christmas decorations, clips and games). Please decorate your jar with a Christmas theme. You can do this by winding strips of paper or ribbon around the jar, topping it with glitter or beads or with cotton wool to look like snow - it's up to you! Please bring your jar into class on Monday 1st December 2014. Children can make more than one jar if they wish. The jars will be raffled off at the Christmas Fair – so look out for the stall!
