EMERGENCY EVACUATION DEMONSTRATIONS
• Full-scale done by manufacturer
• Partial Evacuation Demonstration required for issuance of AOC
• Full complement of crew members
• 50% of slides deployed
• No passengers
PROCEDURES FOR PARTIAL EVACUATION DEMONSTRATION
• Planning meeting to discuss exact procedures and criteria
• Require aircraft, flight crew and two complete cabin crew
• Conducted in darkness• Aircraft electrical system powered• Simulate preparation for takeoff • Cabin attendants seated• Simulate take-off roll then electrical failure• Simulated fire to 50% of exits• 15 secs to fully deploy the slides
EVALUATION OF EVACUATION DEMONSTRATION
• Adherence by flight and cabin crew to assigned duty
• Effectiveness of PIC in exercise of command
• Succession of command in event of casualties
• Effectiveness of crew for evacuation duties
• Shortcomings, deficiencies or delays
DITCHING DEMONSTRATION
DITCHING
• Demonstration required for Type Certification
• Full scale demonstration by manufacturer
• If aircraft not certified for ditching, extended overwater flights should not be authorized

PROCEDURES FOR DEMONSTRATION
• Conducted during daylight• All required crewmembers used• Passengers used only if procedures require• Simulate normal takeoff and climb to cruise• Captain will order crew to prepare for
ditching• After 6 minutes simulated landing on water• Observe life preserver donning and life raft
removal• One life raft will be selected for launch
EVALUATION OF DEMONSTRATION
• Adequate equipment properly stowed
• Slides, life jackets, rafts inflate as required
• Crew use of correct procedures - training
• Timely evacuation of aircraft
• Time start to exit opening, life raft launched/inflated and when all rafts are boarded
