It was a wonderful day full of energy and high spirits. Students rose to the challenges and wore their house colours with pride. A highlight of the day was the number of school records broken. We have an amazing cohort of students who are all extremely talented. Students will be contacted to organise the next level of compeon where they will represent our College at the District Athlecs event. Sport Aerobics: Connuing with the sporng excellence theme, our two aerobics teams competed at the State Autumn Challenge last Saturday. We were very lucky that this State level event was held here in EPAC. Students between the ages of 6 and 19 competed in the Primary and Secondary levels of compeon. With over 200 young athletes from across the State, it was a very acon packed day. Our SRC ran the canteen for the event, and the very talented Mr Edwards ran the theatre lighng and sound. Congratulaons to both teams who won Gold medals in their respecve divisions. Student Reports All our students Progress Reports are now available on Compass. There is a PDF opon on the Compass page for those families wishing to print the Progress Reports. Please discuss your child’s progress over the term and their goals for Term Two. Our Parent -Teacher Meengs take place on Thursday 20th April, and the Compass portal will open during the Easter break for all Parent- Teacher bookings. I would like to encourage all our families to book appointments. Discussing your child’s progress and goals for the next term and future is extremely important and helps us work together to ensure your child reaches their potenal to learn. Mimasaka This week we farewell the students and staff from our Sister School in Mimasaka. It has been wonderful to hear all about their life, language and culture as well as share our way of life and culture with them. I would like to thank all the staff

Past Education/Work Experience:IhavejoinedESCasaHumanitiesteacherthisyearafterpreviously living and working in London as a History teacher for a year and a half. Previous to this I taught English and went to University in NSW. Living and working overseas was a very interestingexperience,asitallowedmetolearnnewthingsandtravelmanyhistoricalsights–all things that have allowed me to broaden my teaching!

Interests:Myinterestsinvolvetravellingandexploringnewthings.SofarIhavetickedalmost30countriesoffmylistwithmanymoretogo!SomeofthesecountriesincludeFrance,Germany,Monaco,Turkey,England and many more!

Congratulations Steven – Yr 11RecentlyStevenKapahnke,acurrentYear11,studentfoundoutatapresentationthathehadsuccessfully made the U18 Eastern Ranges TAC Cup Squad for season 2017. This is a great achievement for Steven as he has only been playing football with the Emerald Bombers since 2011 (joining at the age of 11).

WhenIaskedrecentlyhowhefelt–hestatedthathewaspumped,especiallywhenhehadputalot

ofhardeffortinoverthesummerwherehedidboxingsessionswithhisdad,aswellastraining 3 nights a week in the past month with Eastern focusing on skills and strength.

Stevenwasnotanautomaticselectionatfirstandalthoughhehasmaderepteams‘2015–VLinesquadandthenUnder16programwithEastern’hestillhadtoapplyhimselfandgraspeveryopportunitythatcamehisway.Steven’sgoalsaretocontinuetoworkhardandtryandlockdownaspotintherun-outside.

CongratulationsStevenandwewillbewishingyoualltheverybestwiththeseasonaroundthecorner.

Thanks to the Parents and Staff who supported our Mimasaka StudentsThe past two weeks have seen our College host 10 students from our Sister School in Japan Mimasaka. Last TuesdaythestudentstookthetrainintoMelbourneCityfortheday.Allofthestudentshadagreattimeandtheweather was perfect for the great views from the Eureka Tower. Like all kids they were also happy to hit the junk food shops and do some shopping at the Vic Market.

Such a trip does not happen without the wonderful support of our hostfamilies–andsotheCollegewouldliketothankyouforyourkindgesture.Wehopethiswasagreatexperienceforyou.TheESCstaffwouldalsoliketoacknowledgetheworkofMrKawakamiandMsCameronfortheeffortsinalltheplanningandlogisticsbehindthe scenes.

PAVE Festival

OnTuesdayApril4th,theESCAstronomyClub,togetherwithMt.BurnettObservatory,willbehosting‘TheMoonandBeyond’aspartoftheEmeraldPAVEfestival.Therewillbeastronomicalstories,anastrophotographydisplayand a fund raising sausage sizzle. We will also be running telescope viewing (weather dependent). This is a free event and everyone is encouraged to come along.

CARDINIA YOUNG LEADERS PROGRAM 2017

Mentored by Richmond Football Club defender Steven Morris,theCardiniaYoungLeadersprogramwillencourageandsupportyoungpeople(15-17yearolds)tobecomeactivelyengagedasyoungcitizens.

Theywillworkdirectlywithlocalsportingclubstoencourageandfacilitatetheimplementationofahealthysportingenvironment.

Participantswillbeexposedtoleadershipdevelopmentprogramsincludingmindfulness,personalityprofiles,public speaking and teamwork.

Participantswillalsobeofferedfundedpositionsinaccreditedtrainingprogramssuchaspoollifeguard,swimteachingandcustomerservice,withaviewtodevelopingthenextgroupoflocalstafftoworkwithinCardiniaLeisurefacilities.

Morrissaidhewasexcitedtogetstartedonthisnewprogram in Cardinia Shire.

“Being able to combine my passions for sport and personaldevelopment,Ihopetoworkwithkeenyoung

leaders to develop their skills and support their local clubs,”Morrissaid.

“Growingupinasportingfamily,Iknowhowimportantfooty,netballandbasketballclubscanbe.
