Operation Christmas Child

For a few years now, students at

Illaroo Road Public School have

been putting together Christmas

boxes for Operation Christmas

Child, which aims to provide needy

children around the world with a box of goodies for

Christmas. This year, we are aiming to fill 50 boxes. You

can get involved by:

Filling a box with a few appropriate items yourself.

Joining with a group of friends, or your class to fill a

box.

Donating a small item or two to be packed into boxes

by us.

Appropriate items include notebooks, tennis balls,

stationery, small toys, hats, stickers, marbles,

toothbrushes, hair brushes, face washers, hair clips, etc.

Please do not include any perishable items. Each box will

be labelled with the intended age group and gender of the

recipient.

Teaching our children about the importance of giving and

of helping those less fortunate is very important. For

more information, or to pick up a box to fill, please see

Mrs Irving. Items and boxes must be returned to the

library by Wednesday 9 December.

Defence News

Families get the chance to tell Defence what they think

about military life.

ADF families have the opportunity to provide feedback

about their experiences and views on service life through

the 2015 ADF Families Survey. This year’s survey will

focus on how relocations and absences from home

impact on families, and what Defence can do better to

support families during these times.

If you are a partner or parent of a permanent ADF

member or a permanent ADF member looking after

dependants on your own, tell Defence about your

experiences in the ADF Families Survey.

The survey should only take about 20 minutes to

complete and will be online at:

Defence Community Organisation

http://www.defence.gov.au/dco/families-survey

Defence Families of Australia http://www.dfa.org.au/

The ADF Families Survey opens on 16 November and

will close on 7 December 2015. The results are expected

to be available in early 2016.

a bus pass, must complete a new application form for

next year. These students will not automatically receive a

in Kindergarten, Year 1 and Year 2 are eligible for bus

travel irrespective of the distance from home to school.

Students in Years 3-6 must reside more than 1.6km

(radial distance) from school. All students entering Year

3 in 2016 need to reapply and complete a new application

In order to plan our class/year numbers for next year, it is

very important that we know which families won’t be at

Illaroo Road Public School at the start of 2016. If you are

leaving, or think you are leaving this term or during the

Christmas holidays, please let the front office know as

soon as possible.
