Go wash away your makeup.Wash away your entire disguise.Wash your weary teary eyes. And throw away your masquerade. You're in no need o any aid.You don't need a hand to help you look

in the mirror.Whip off the og,Now you can see the picture clearer. You are still standing here. You are not going to ade.And as sorrowul as your eyes are,Within them still is a light parade. And as hollow as your laughs and smiles are,You still utter ones that are true. You've searched or answers or miles and miles. But you're not the problem. You're just you. You've been strong or so long.Tis sorrow needs not to prolong.I you could still find in this awul world some delight,I you could still be your own earless knight,Ten why not be your own shining light? Why not thou live? Why not fight?

    The

    Battle

    between

    Darkness

    and Light

In a world of corruption, living is a nobleact. That is what Francisco X. Stork tackles in

his new young-adult novel The Memory of Light  published in January2016.

Vicky Cruzshould is not alive. That is what she thinks anyway. She arrivesat Lakeview Hospital, where she meets Mona, Gabriel, E.M., who are patients,

and Dr. Desai. With stories of honesty, kindness, and hard work, they push her toconsider her life before Lakeview, fueling her with a will to live.

Stork depicts a major repercussion of clinical depression: suicide attempts. Hedefines depression as, “There was just…pain, disgust and hatred.” The vicious

pain of depression leads a lot of patients to end their lives. Another importantaspect is the falsehood of antidepressants. Medication does not magically give youthe will to live: “There are no ‘happy pills’. All the things that are hard in your life

    remain.”

The significance of group therapy and healthy relationships is implemented

in The Memory of Light . A depressed or suicidal person has trouble with havingnormal relationships as they believe that their mental illness affects people. In thebook, suicidal souls collide together to build a fundamental foundation to regainthe will to live. Through their friendship, they find the strength to conquer thedemons of suicide. To use Vicky Cruzshould’s resolution: “That’s what I did to

make it through…each day, go through the motions of being strong. I put onstrong every morning.”

On a final note, you are significant. Continue the battle. Keep living.

    The Stones of Your Dreams:

    A Trinity of Excellence

We all aspire to use our minds to themaximum, to let our intellectual self take thelead and to activate its long-hidden potentialsand our long-sought dreams. Here are threedifferent legends that embody such aspirations.

The Sunstone and Vision:A Norse myth describes the stone as amagical gem that could point to the position ofthe sun before dawn and after sunset, despitecloud-cover. It stands for the idea of vision ineveryone’s mind. That is to say, no matter howthe fog is thick in your journey of life, you stillbe able to see the glimpse of hope. No matterhow much you think you are lost, you are stillable to find the way. Everyone needs a guidethat helps them in determining the next step.In other words, you need to have faith even ifthere are no signs.

    The Philosopher’s Stone and Passion:

It is a legendary alchemical substancecapable of turning base metals, such asmercury, into gold. It is a flow that has thepower to make everything look beautiful andefficient. It is also called the elixir of lifefor having the power to cure illnesses, renewyouth, and even grant immortality to those whopossess the stone .

It is the secret of life just like our hearts. It isthe engine of every work and the drive of everyliving being.

    Blarney Stone and Eloquence:

The stone is in the Blarney Castle inIreland. According to legend, kissing thestone endows the kisser with the gift of greateloquence. What really grabs one’s attentionis that the place of the stone carries a message.

Being placed on the highest storey of thecastle and one of the battlements, the stonesignifies the eminence and importance of sucha gift. The only way to spread life into yourthoughts is through utterances. They are themind’s offspring: “A word is dead when it issaid, some say. I say it just begins to live thatday,” as Emily Dickenson puts it. Also noticehow the participant must ascend to the castle'speak and then lean over backwards on theparapet's edge to touch the stone with his/herlips. If something goes wrong, it is over, butif all is good, they are given the upper hand in

every situation in life. Exactly like the impactof a word, you cannot always say what it bringsforth, but that should never stop you fromuttering it.

Finally, if you are able to draw your route and define a canalfor your passion; if you are able to find the motive to keep producingauthentic thoughts and let them be heard, and; finally, if you are ableto convince others with your vision and be a true innovator, thencongratulations; all your dreams surely will come true! You possess thepower of the !three stones that makes you a dream achiever.

    The Pursuit of Happyness

Cast: Will Smith, Jaden Smith, ThandieNewton, Brian Howe and James Karen.

Director:Gabriele muccinoPlot summary: Chris Gardner, adetermined, ambitious man in histhirties, spends all his savings ona low-income project. Later on, hefinds himself and his 4-year-old child,

Christopher, on the verge of povertyand homelessness. Will it be the endfor Gardner, or will it be a blessing indisguise.

Review: Have you ever cursed the world and blamed it for your adverse

    fortune and fleeting chances? If you have, you’d better watch thismovie where fortune is created not found, and chances are seized tothe bone not missed! In a true rag-into-rich self-made success story,Muccino gifts the world with a masterpiece in which perseveranceand fatherhood are proven to be a first-rate key to “Happyness.”Life does not give Chris (Will Smith) a chance to catch his breath;

once he overcomes an adversity, he is shortly afterwards hit byanother. As he fluctuates among a wife’s departure, bankruptcy, competitive internship and a child’s 24-hour care, Chris pullshimself together crowned with a self-made miracle; perseverance.First, Chris applies to a 6-month no-salary internship at whichonly one intern is going to be the next stockbroker. He functions a9-hour job in only six hours so that he can fetch his son and queueup early in a crammed line for the homeless. Chris’ invincible willand immeasurable love for his son fuel him to fight tooth and nail fortheir happiness.

The lyrics of one of the movie songs, “Lord don’t move themountain, but give me strength to climb it,” along with the dialoguebetween Chris and his supervisor, “You cannot do it Chris! - Yes, Ican,” conclude the whole story. Chris refuses to be broken by hardships, and he turns them, instead, into his breakthrough. It was much easierfor him to be a rat abandoning a sinking ship and to put the blame onhis surroundings, but he did not. That is the very reason why he hassucceeded. Paulo Coelho once wrote: “And, when you want something, all the universe conspires in helping you to achieve it.” And I dare tosay that Chris Gardner has earnestly exemplified this quote.

    Midnight Thoughts

I find it very intriguing that my spirit is shedding bloodthese days.I shed my blood through a battle o reconciliation.Perhaps I am in need o that one thing: someone whom I

can talk with about the universe where I can lose myselwithin my notions and it appears to be utterly acceptable.Being content with that specific vision in mind is not onlywhat I seek, but also it is what I need.I want to share how I eel about the world no matter howrail or poised I reach.Tat optimum o swirling vacancy is a slow killer. It's like Christmas; I am valid or some days. Sometimes Iam not that ull o assurance.I wish I could find silence – the good silence, not thedisturbing one I find echoing at my edges. Not the mess

I can't seem to clean on my own. I am searching or thatunbound inner peace I used to have. I find the vividest othings a bit aded. I find my eelings rushing and bruising.I seem to need mysel to cruise through something that Ican't seem to reach.I am attempting to desire.

What is outstanding and remarkable about this painting is that itis ull o details, yet it is not conusing and is greatly agreeable. MargretNakhla (1908 – 1977) is an Egyptian modern artist who studied art inFrance and specialized in oil paintings. Her painting helped me recallthat, when I was younger, I loved watching the economic episode othe news when they explained the stock market's ups and downs. Iloved watching all those people looking busy, staring at screens as ithey control the world. I wanted to grow up and become a stock brokerso as to look busy and be as important as those people are. However, later on, I ound out that it was not my thing and it is just anotherstressul, burdensome job.

What Nakhla portrays in her Te Stock Market is the people'ssick obsession with money. I believe that she criticizes, through herpainting, how capitalism turned human beings into mere machines.Nakhla satirizes man’s greed or money as portrayed in her parody othe stock traders, who gathered to witness the ups and downs o themarket in panic and tense gestures. We find people gathered in a wayas i they are worshipping their god. Te painting tells the ugly story ohow capitalism distorted our humanity and made us orget that we arepassionate creatures created to ulfill our oolish dreams.

Art AuraRunning Trough the Museum o Modern Egyptian Art

I am an anxious person, and mostly or all the irrational reasons.Tat’s why I regard walking as something that helps me clear my mind.I just roam aimlessly till an aim comes up, and that's exactly whathappened when I discovered that there is a Museum o Modern Arthere in Egypt. So, I just walked in and asked one o the staff where Ican buy a ticket. He studied my ace cautiously and asked or my IDwhich confirmed the idea that has been developing unconsciously in

my mind: the museum is totally abandoned. Hence, the adventurebegan.

Every cinephile knows that one o the greatest scenes o alltime is the Louvre run scene in the French movie Bande à part orTe Band o Outsiders, in which the characters attempt to break theworld record or running through the Louvre and that scene was againrecreated in another movie Te Dreamers. And even though I wantedto recreate the scene, badly, and perhaps call it later the Museum oModern Egyptian Art run, I believed it wouldn't be a very good ideaso I decided to just walk decently and watch the exhibitions imaginingthat I'm running through the museum. Hence, I ran into MargaretNakhla's Te Stock Market (1940).
