PRINCIPAL’S MESSAGE For a small school Teralba certainly does a lot of great things! We have
certainly started the Term with a lot of events and there are still many planned,
particularly within the next fortnight.
In reviewing the last fortnight I would like to start with some thankyous to our
staff, students and parents. Last week we had the small schools Athletics
Carnival and Teralba were lucky enough to host the canteen. I would like to
thank all of the canteen volunteers for assisting and organizing everything on
the day. This was a huge day with over 540 students attending. All profits raised
go back towards the Teralba P&C.
I would also like to congratulate the students of Teralba for their efforts and
participation during the Athletics Carnival. My fellow staff and parents could
only say positive comments on our students’ efforts. The same can be said
during our involvement of the International Children's Games Torch Relay.
I would also like to thank Kiwanis International who held in the first weekend a
gardening working bee followed by a free sausage sizzle! Not only did Kiwanis
International organization help clean up our school they also purchased a
brand new 7 burner BBQ for our school! Thankyou again Kiwanis International! I
know this BBQ will be in high demand as we head into summer.

Last Sunday I was briefly able to attend the 3 Peas Market stall within Teralba PS.
The 3 Peas Markets is a credit to the Teralba community and really shows what
a fantastic community and school we have! All I can see is if you haven’t been
to a 3 Peas Market then I strongly encourage you to do so, Keep up the great
work 3 Peas!
Over the next fortnight we week we see the following major events planned
including our first Kindergarten Orientation evening; Canberra Excursion
(combined with other local schools); Stage 2 Morisset excursion, (combined
with other local schools) as well as a P&C meeting. There is also an Expression of
Interest swimming note being sent home this week. To assist with planning and
to avoid disappointment please hand this note in ASAP.
I am very supportive of the PBL values that have been established at Teralba
and I am impressed how the students, staff and the community support PBL
(Positive Behaviour Learning). This week our focus is hands and feet to ourselves
and respecting others` space.
This newsletter we have added a staff profile page, starting with Miss V who is
our LAST and EAFS support teacher. We hope you enjoy this addition to the
newsletter and see if you have anything in common with Miss V.
FREE FREDDO FROG FOR FILLING IN A SURVEY!
As I stated in the previous newsletter I am looking forward to planning the
2015-17 Strategic Plan. In order to do this we require the whole school
feedback. In the last newsletter two surveys went home to try and shape the
future of Teralba Public School. I know surveys can take time and be annoying,
so every survey returned in will receive a free chocolate frog! I know most
people like chocolate! So please fill out the survey, have your say in the future
of Teralba Public School and you will receive a free chocolate frog! Please
advise if you do have any allergies to chocolate.
The Community Feedback Survey is based around the top 5 learning needs of
your child or children at Teralba Public School. In your opinion, what are your
child’s greatest learning needs? In this survey you need to select 5 learning
areas from the list. If you feel items have been missed please write down in the
other areas provided. Your input is sought and will be valued as we with the
whole school community, identify specific target areas which will feature
strongly in budgetary allocations, teacher professional development as well as
teaching and learning resources over the next three years.

The Parent Satisfaction Survey is based around your opinion of Teralba Public School. This
feedback helps to evaluate and see areas that are great at Teralba Public School and
areas that could improve. All surveys help to shape the future of Teralba Public School, so
have your say.
The surveys are also available online through a link on the Teralba website. It is important to
take these surveys to help shape the future of Teralba Public School.
In relation to staff addition our School Counsellor has officially joined us and we welcome
Dr Kerri McCarthy. Kerri is not only a School Counsellor but is also a Registered Psychologist
and brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to our school. Kerri will be at Teralba
every second Tuesday or even weeks for half a day. I strongly advise if you would like your
child to see her to make an appointment through the school.
Congratulations again to our Teralba students who participated in the Torch Relay, a very
unique event enjoyed by all who attended.
Have a great fortnight everyone and I look forward to reporting more positive news in the
next newsletter!

TEACHER PROFILE - Miss V
“I believe in providing a learning environment where children are happy and develop
high self-esteem. I treat the children as individuals and treasure their unique
characteristics.”
Job title: Learning and Support Teacher/ Positive Behaviour for Learning Leader
Early Action For Success Assistant
General information:
After finishing my teaching degree I left to teach as a causal teacher in England (They
call us ‘supply teachers’ over there) and to travel through Europe during the school
holidays. I really had so many wonderful teaching experiences while overseas and love
to use these experiences gained in our school today.
I consider myself lucky to work in such a stunning environment with such an enthusiastic
and friendly team of teachers, staff and students.
Outside of school I enjoy camping, cooking and gardening. I can often be found spending time with family,
friends and my two guinea pigs Scruffy and Rosie.
