GLOSSARY

Term Definition

Prompt Page Prompt pages allow users to further define/limit the data that will be used and shown in the report. Date Prompts:

Most reports have a date prompt. A report can be run: 1. For the past X hours/days/months/years (Time Span) OR 2. Between a certain Start and End Date

Note: Both can not be used. If using 1 type, make sure that the other one is blank. Otherwise, both criteria will be used when running the report.

Linked Reports If a metric is underlined, that means that the user can drilldown to a linked report to lower level detail on that metric. Usually it is linked to a report showing who did the activity. Click on the column header to run the linked report for ALL data in the report. Click on an individual metric number to run the linked report just for that particular record. If the linked report is to who did the activity, the user will be asked pick the contact fields to show in the report. Note: All linked reports pass information from the original report (from their filters and prompt answers) to the linked report in order to show you the correct information.

Active Campaigns A Campaign is considered active if the Campaign start or end date lies in the date range, or it started before and ended after the date range. Thus at some point in the date range, the Campaign was 'active'. Note this does not reflect the Draft vs Activate status on the Campaign. It is completely dependent on the start and end date of the Campaign, which is set in the "Campaign Reporting Runs From:" section just above the Campaign canvas and is also on the Settings screen from the Action (gear) menu on the top right of the canvas screen.

Inbound Activity This refers to activity that Eloqua receives back into our system. For example, email opens, email clickthroughs, form submissions and website visits.

Outbound Activity This refers to activity that Eloqua does (sends). For example, email sends.

Lead A lead in Eloqua is a marketing lead, and not necessarily a lead that is yet 'hot' enough to send to the CRM to have Sales look into. A lead is generated for the contact if the contact does a 'response' on a Campaign.

Term Definition

Response A response is an activity that is important enough to attribute revenue to the Campaign based on the fact that a contact did that activity. For example, an email open may not be important enough to attribute revenue to a Campaign, whereas a form submission, is because the user is giving more information on themselves. The client sets up their own response rules in the Settings area of Eloqua.
