EC trailed 1-0 early in the second period, but two goals from Erin Weston ’15, one towards the end of the second period and another five minutes into the third period, to put Elmira on top, 2-1. Middle- bury concluded the day’s scoring with the game-tying goal with less than seven minutes on the clock. TWO FOR WESTON Erin Weston ’15 scored both of EC’s goals against Middlebury last Sat- urday, matching her career-high for goals in a game. It was Weston’s first multi-goal game of the season and the third multi-goal game of her career. The last time she scored two goals in a game, prior to Sat- urday, was against Utica College on November 10, 2013. CAREER-HIGH FOR NELSON EC netminder Kyle Nelson ’17 was tested early and often against the Panthers as Middlebury put 37 shots on goal. Nelson made 35 stops in 65 minutes between the pipes, setting a new career high. The last time an EC goaltender recorded as many saves in a game was in last year’s NCAA Quarterfinal against Norwich University when Lisa Marshall ’14 also recorded 35 saves. RYANS RECORD SETTING PACE Ashley Ryan ’15 has recorded 24 assists in her first 11 games, an aver- age of 2.18 per game. If Ryan can maintain her current assist rate, she will conclude her senior season with an Elmira College single-season record 56 assists, 15 more than Charissa Gawant ’05 tallied in 2001- 02, EC’s inaugural season. sOaring eagLes at tHe tOPIndividually, Elmira has several players at the top of the national sta-tistical leaderboards. Ashley Ryan ’15 is the national leader in points per game (2.55) and assists per game (2.18); Ashton Hogan ’15 leads the nation in goals per game (1.36) and is tied for the national lead in shorthanded goals (2); Cassidy Delainey ’15 is tied for the national lead in power-play goals (6); Brooke Wilgosh ’15 and Phoebe Piku ’16 lead the country in defensemen scoring (1.18 ppg); Kelcey Crawford ’18 is tied for the national lead in winning percentage (1.000).

eC On tHe POwer PLayEC went 1-for-4 on the power play against Middlebury last week, maintaining their standing as one of the best teams in the nation when given a man-up opportunity. Elmira has scored an NCAA Di-vision III-leading 20 power-play goals in 60 power-play opportuni-ties. The 33.3 percent success rate ranks the Purple and Gold third in the nation in power play efficiency, 1.3 percent behind national-leaders Amherst College.

100-POint traCkerAshton Hogan ’15 enters Sunday’s game with 93 career points on 57 goals and 36 assists. Hogan is just seven points shy of becoming the 10th Elmira player to reach the 100-point plateau. Teammate Ashley Ryan ’15 scored her 100th career point earlier this season in a 10-2 win over SUNY Cortland.

stiLL unbeaten in tHe dOmeThe Soaring Eagles have been phenomenal in home games this sea-son with a 5-0-1 home record. 39 of EC’s 61 goals this season have been scored on home ice. Additionally, Elmira has outscored their opponents 39-to-8 in home games.

natiOnaLLy ranked OPPOnentsSaturday’s contest against No. 3 ranked Norwich University will be EC’s fifth nationally ranked opponent of the 2014-15 season. The Soaring Eagles are 2-1-1 against nationally ranked opponents, with one of those nationally-ranked wins coming against the Cadets.

HigH POwer OffenseThe Soaring Eagle offense has been second to none through the first half of the 2014-15 season. In just 11 games, Elmira has scored an NCAA Di-vision III-leading 61 goals. Elmira is the only Division III institution to record at least 60 goals at this point in the season.

COming in HOtNorwich University lost their first game of the season against the Soar-ing Eagles, but have not lost since, riding a nine-game unbeaten streak. The Cadets have gone 8-0-1 since that loss to EC, which includes eight straight wins. At nine games, the Cadets have the third-best current unbeaten streak in NCAA Division III women’s ice hockey.

Cadets tO watCHKaycie Anderson and Sarah Schwenzfeier lead Norwich with 13 points on four goals and a team-best nine assists. In terms of goal scor-ing, the Cadets’ Erin Joyce and Maki Shuchuk are tops on the team with six goals apiece. Norwich has started three different goaltenders this season, with Celeste Robert earning the most time and having the most success between the pipes. Robert has allowed seven goals and tallied 114 saves in 364 minutes in net.
