Introduction Letter Dear GLACURH,

It is my extreme pleasure to be bidding for the Director of the Great Lakes Affiliate of NACURH for the 2015-2016 affiliation year. Over the past two and a half years; with serving on the RBD, being an NCC, and a Hall Council President, I have gained experiences that will not only help me in this Director role, but also throughout my life as a leader.

For those who do not know me, my name is Elliott Hendrick and I am hosted by Indiana University Purdue University Indianapolis. In the upcoming pages of this bid, you will be reading a little bit about myself, my strengths, areas of improvement, goals, and my overarching vision for this organization. I believe that this bid articulates why I think I should be the Director of GLACURH and why I will be able to continue the momentum and better this organization in the upcoming year, as well as in years to come. I understand that having no bid theme may be perceived as "boring and bland” but I am not here to be flashy or outlandish. I am here to show you my drive and passion for this organization and to stays at its best at all times. If selected to serve this region, I will ensure that GLACURH works at its fullest potential and make it the BEST region in NACURH.

Time Commitments Next year I will be taking 15 credit hours, as well as

working a part time job with the Office of Campus Recreation for approximately 10 hours a week. I will also be involved with my Church on a weekly basis, it usually comes out to about 5 hours a week.

Fluidity in our Structure – With the advance in RCC focus areas, moving away from sub-regional focuses, we need to stay fluid and connected as a region. I will ensure a reassessment, in conjunction with the Regional Assessment required in the next affiliation year. Strategic Plan – In line with the NACURH Strategic Plan, GLACURH needs to follow practice to ensure accountability, shared resources, and overall success of the region over the next three years. I will create a document with the RBD outlining the process, as well as forming a committee to aid in the creation of the formal document. Chairing a Committee for NACURH – This will not only show the strength of the region, but allow for myself, as a leader, to grow. I will be able to use the skills learned in that role to better serve the region. GLACURH Alumni Association – This is a much undervalued resource of our region that is in desperate need of restructuring how we use it, since it is supposed to be chaired by an RCC, it would be best if we focus it more on NCC/NRHH-CC/RHA Presidents/NRHH Presidents. I believe that this Alumni Association could recognize campus and GLACURH leaders outside of AAFN. Virtual Collaboration – I would like to assess the use of technologies such as Fuse, used for getting the region together and giving them a voice outside of No Frills and GLACURH. This is another avenue of building connections. Sponsorships – Another underutilized service is sponsorships and scholarships. I will work to promote these to smaller schools and as a way to recruit new schools into the region.

Positional Goals

Communication – Keeping the communication among the RBD and among the region. I want to ensure top-down communication. Accountability – This will keep our RBD members focused and committed to the goals that they set and to keep our organization growing. Set guidelines for RBD Roles – The roles and specifics are unclear for each CO role, I want to clear those up and keep them accountable through those. Leading by Example – This is the most important thing I do as a leader, if people see you working hard and giving everything you have to your job, then they will want to follow and give everything to the region and NACURH. If they see your passion, they will give the same passion you will.

NACURH Goals Global Inclusivity – We have the privilege of hosting a very active international province within our region. I will ensure that our Canadian affiliates are well-represented within NACURH, advocating for their interests on all levels. Technology – Having grown from my position with the technology focus area, I would like to assist with technology needs and concerns on the NACURH level. I envision this as getting cross-trained in the RFI, GuideBook, and/or WordPress/Wix. Transparency – I would like to release NACURH legislation prior to Semis and Preconference and hold multiple chats to garner member school feedback to assist the Directorship in all facets of decisions making.
