Egypt targeting to increase natural gas exports in the present year (2019/ 2020) to reach 12 million tons and that compares with 850,000 tons only reached in 2017/ 2018. That was reported in the media quoting a report of the Ministry of Petroleum indicating investments in the oil & gas sector are projected to reach during 2019/ 2020 the equivalent of L.E. 14 billion. N.B. Figures are mainly related to Zohor gas field with its output has more than tripled three times since then.

Total installed capacities by the end of June 2019 reached 1,235 MW compared with 890 MW by June 2016 with energy produced from NREA station increasing to 3,755 million KW/ hr up from 2,820 million KW/ hr in 2017/ 2018.

That was announced by Tarek Shalabi, Deputy Chairman of Marsa Alam Investors Society on the Red Sea indicating the parties are now evaluating the hotels requirements of each hotel & resort to prepare their bids. So far 9 totals in the City expressed their serious interest in the project. No values nor completion date were given were given.

With the entry of the Nile Flood season, a report prepared by the Grand Barrages & Dams Sector at the Ministry of Irrigation indicating that L.E. 280 million budget are allocated for the maintenance & revamping there of. The sector is responsible for the operation and maintenance of 78 such barrages and works. Head of the Sector, Eng Ashraf Hebeish, indicated that similar works executed by the sector exceed L.E. 10 billion.

The PPP - Public Private Partnership Unit at Egypt's Ministry of Finance said it is evaluating a water desalination project in Marsa Matrouh in cooperation with the Ministry of Housing & a group of private investors. That was announced by Mr. Hannoura, Head of the Unit, indicating it will have 170,000 M3/ day capacity & located in El Hammam City. He indicated the project will be released in international bidding during the first quarter of 2020.

Egypt's Minister of Petroleum & Mining saying Egypt is expanding oil & gas exploration & production in the Suez Gulf & North Damietta including related infrastructure & production facilities. A press release of the Ministry indicated that average daily production at Gupco fields during 2018/ 2019 reached about 61,300 barrels per day of crude oil & that plans on are on hand to increase the figure to 73,000 barrels per day during 2019/ 2020. GUPCO CEO, Geologist Khaled Hamdan, further disclosed that also plans are on hand to increase investments in the area (Ras Shokeir) from $ 391 million to $ 503 million in 2019/ 2020 producing for the drilling of 31 new wells & the repair of other 12 wells.

Project will be implemented on a 460,000 M2 unused land lot under 25 years lease, possibly in Suez.
