Test your IQ with the question below:

There is a mute who wants to buy a toothbrush.By imitating the action of brushing one’s teeth he

successfully expresses himself to the shopkeeper

and the purchase is done. Now if there is a blind

man who wishes to buy a pair of sunglasses, how

should he express himself?

Think about it first before scrolling down for the answer...

answer is at the bottom of the page........

A Loan for Kermit

A frog goes into a bank and approaches the

teller. He can see from her nameplate thather name is Patricia Whack. “Miss Whack,

I’d like to get a $30,000 loan to take a holi-

day.” Patty looks at the frog in disbelief and

asks his name. The frog says his name is

Kermit Jagger, his dad is Mick Jagger, and

that it’s okay, he knows the

bank manager. Patty explains

that he will need to secure

the loan with some collateral.

The frog says, “Sure. I have

this,” and produces a tiny por-

celain elephant, about an inch

tall, bright pink and perfectly formed. Very

confused, Patty explains that she’ll have to

consult with the bank manager and disap-

pears into a back office. She finds the man-

ager and says, “There’s a frog called Kermit

Jagger out there who claims to know you

and wants to borrow $30,000, and he wants

to use this as collateral.” She holds up the

tiny pink elephant. “I mean, what in the

world is this?”

(You’re going to love this)(A masterpiece)

(Wait for it)

The bank manager looks back at her and

says...”It’s a knickknack, Patty Whack.

Give the frog a loan. His old man’s a

Rolling Stone.”

Stolen

A drunk phoned police to report that

thieves had been in his car.

“They’ve stolen the dashboard, the

steering wheel, the brake pedal, even

the accelerator!” he cried out.

However, before the police investi-

gation could start, the phone rang a

second time with the same voice came

over the line.

“Never mind,” he said with a hiccup, “I

got in the back seat by mistake.”

cle parked for a long time removethe electronic ignition fuse, coilwire, rotor, distributor, or otherwisedisable the vehicle.

Don’t become complacentbecause you drive an older ve-

hicle. Most stolen vehicles are atleast a few years old.

If you have “T-shaped” door lock buttons, replace them withstraight locks.

Investing in Vehicle Protection

Don’t rely on just one anti-theftdevice.

If your vehicle has an alarm systemor other anti-theft device, use it.

Visible steering wheel locks pre-vent the steering wheel from be-

ing turned. Ignition kill switcheshalt the fuel supply.

Floorboard locks disable thegas or brake pedals, preventingtheir use. Gearshift locks disableshifting the transmission.

Hood locks prevent thievesfrom gaining access to your secu-rity system and battery.

Electric Security Systems

Audio alarms emit loud warn-ing sounds when the doors, hood,

or trunk are opened.Vehicle tracking systems, which

are installed in your vehicle, canbe activated when your vehicle isstolen. These systems alert the po-lice to the location of your vehiclefor quicker recovery.

AVILA COURT BLOCK PARTY!A new family recently moved in on Avila Court, a cul-de-sac of 12homes at the front of the park, but they won’t be strangers for long. Thanks to the block parties the residents put together a couple oftimes a year, the recent arrivals will soon know all the neighbors.

Block parties provide an opportunity to meet your neighbors, build camaraderie, and have a good time. SR1’s NeighborhoodWatch, the organizer behind our mega-block-party, National NightOut, coming up in August, has the same aim — to help people getacquainted with one another. Neighborhood Watch is an important

aspect of a safe and secure neighborhood. Combined, they helpmake your park a better place to live.

Any group on at least one block-long street can organize andexecute a block party. You can do this inside a home, or in one or more front yards and driveways as Avila Court has done. There’s aton of how-tos available on the ‘net (even a supplies list), so if YOUwant to get to know your neighbors, this is the way to do it!

Meeting called to order at 7 p.m. All were pres-ent except Barbara, who was excused, and Clint.

Minutes of the May meeting were reviewed andapproved.

Treasurer’s Report: E-mailed in advance of the meeting and was approved.

Resident Concerns:

Tree trimming is underway throughout the park.Street repair does not appear to have startedthough it was to have been half done by now. Vari-ous mechanical devices (meters, shutoff valves, etc.) are failing and efforts are directed to repair-ing them.

A resident called to ask if bushes were the park’sresponsibility, and apparently they are not. The

park must take care of park trees, maintain thecommon areas and cut back the ivy around theperimeter. They will remove hazardous trees if asafety issue.

A news story out of San Rafael that concerns anattack on rent control which could have implicationsfor all the state’s MH Parks was discussed. The big-gest mobile home park owner in the country, EquityLifeStyle Properties, tried to raise $700-800 rentsto $2,000 and, when thwarted, sued the city to endrent control. A court initially ruled in their favor butwas reversed on appeal. Residents say they arebeing harassed, that the park is not being takencare of and conditions are deteriorating. A videoof the TV segment and the story are available athttp://abclocal.go.com/kgo/story?section=news/assignment_7&id=9126326

later in the morning.Pool Party, May 19: Crowd estimated at more

than 100. Planners reported that a resident wasunhappy with getting only one hotdog and thatthere was no salad as had been announced.

COMMUNITY:

Neighborhood Watch meets Tuesday, June 11.National Night Out is August 6 and the Car-a-Vankick off will be Monday, July 29. Many helpers areneeded to help put on this popular event.

NERT—Creek Cleanup the 22nd.

HMOA—On break for the summer. Next meetingis Sept 21 at Spanish Ranch 1.

NEW BUSINESSBlock Party — Avila residents Marvin, Brenda

and Dawn reported on their recent block party. Theeditor was invited to the event to gather materi-al to promote this idea for getting to know yourneighbors and promoting a sense of community.Knowing your neighbors and agreeing to watch outfor each other and your property makes for a moresecure environment.

July Meeting previously announced as havingbeen postponed to July 11 because of the regulardate falling on the 4th of July, has been cancelled. A

separate meeting; to plan August’s National NightOut will be scheduled instead.

Evening Walks scheduled for Wednesdays havebeen erratic so it was suggested that different daysbe scheduled and go with whoever shows up whilewe have the longer daylight hours.

El Toro has been on-time lately which is appre-ciated. We’ve lost some of the delivery people dueto moving or illness so the editor will seek morevolunteers.

Meeting adjourned at 8:15 p.m.

Respectfully submitted,

Jeanie Schultz, Secretary
