Stress Management Joke

Picture yourself near a stream.

Birds are singing in the crisp, cool mountain air.

Nothing can bother you here.

No one knows this secret place.

You are in total seclusion from that place called the world.

The soothing sound of a gentle waterfall fills the air with acascade of serenity.

The water is clear.

You can easily make out the face of theperson whose head you’re holding under thewater.

There now, feeling better? (tcastle 2014)

You Know You’re Getting Older When...

You and your teeth don’t sleep together.

Your try to straighten out the wrinklesin your socks and discover you aren’twearing any.

At the breakfast table you hear snap, crackle, pop and you’re not eating cereal.

Your back goes out, but you stay home.

You wake up looking like your driver’slicense picture.

It takes two tries to get up from the couch.

Happy hour is a nap.

You’re on vacation, and yourenergy runs out before yourmoney does.

You say something to your kids that yourmother said to you, and you always hated it.

You look for your glasses for half an hour, and they were on your head the whole time.

You sink your teeth into a steak - and theystay there.

All you want for your birthday is to not be

reminded of your age.Your idea of weight lifting is standing up.

It takes longer to rest than it did toget tired.

Your memory is shorter and yourcomplaining lasts longer.

Your address book has mostly names thatstart with Dr.

The pharmacist has become your newbest friend.

Getting “lucky” means you found your carin the parking lot.

It takes twice as long - to look half as good.

Everything hurts, and what doesn’t hurt -doesn’t work.

You give up all your bad habits and stilldon’t feel good.

You have more patience, but it is actuallythat you just don’t care anymore.

Things You Learn From the Movies (part 1 of 2)

1. Large, loft-style apartments in New York City are well within the

price range of most people--whether they are employed or not.

2. At least one of a pair of identical twins is born evil.

3. Should you decide to defuse a bomb, don’t

worry which wire to cut. You will always choose

the right one.

4. Most laptop computers are powerful enough

to override the communications system of any

invading alien society.

5. It does not matter if you are heavily outnumbered in a fight

involving martial arts: your enemies will wait patiently to attack

you one by one by dancing around in a threatening manner

until you have knocked out their predecessors.

6. When you turn out the light to go to bed, everything in your

bedroom will still be clearly visible, just slightly bluish.

7. If you are blonde and pretty, it is possible to become a world

arch enemies using complicated machinery involving fuses,

pulley systems, deadly gases, lasers, and man-eating sharks,

which will allow their captives at least 20 minutes to escape.

10. All beds have special L-shaped cover sheets that reach the

USE MEDICINES WISELYAbout 30% to 50% of those who use medicines do not

use them as directed. This causes more doctor visits, hos-pital stays, lost wages, and changed prescriptions. All thiscosts Americans more than $ 100 billion each year.

Adults often take care of medicines for the whole fam-ily as well as themselves. So we need to read the label, avoid problems, ask questions, and keep a record.

1. READ THE LABEL

Before you take any medicine, read the label. The la-bel should show:

List of ingredients - If you know you are allergic to any-thing in the medicine, don’t use it. Ask your doctor or phar-macist for a different medicine.

Warnings - Read these carefully. The expiration date - Do not use a medicine after the

date on the bottle. It may not work as well. For more information on your medicines ask your phar-

macist.

2. AVOID PROBLEMS

Medicines can cause problems or side effects such as

sleepiness, vomiting, bleeding, headaches, or rashes. Askabout the side effects of the medicines you are taking. Talkwith your doctor, pharmacist, or nurse.

Organize your medicines.Do not skip taking your medicines.Do not share medicines.

Do not take medicine in the dark.

3. ASK QUESTIONS

• What is the medicine’s name?• Is there a generic available?• Why am I taking this medicine?• When should I take it?• Should I take this on an empty stomach or with food?

• Is it safe to drink alcohol with it?• If I forget to take it, what should I do?• How much should I take?• How long am I to take it?• What problems should I watch for?If you are pregnant or nursing a baby, seek the advice

of a health professional before taking any medication ordiet supplement.

Talk with your doctor, pharmacist, or nurse. She/he willbe happy to help you.

List any allergies.

4. KEEP A RECORD OF MEDICINES YOU USE

Check off the ones you use:

__Aspirin or other pain/headache/fever medicine __Allergy medicine __Antacids __Cold medicine __Cough medicine __Diet pill/supplements __Laxatives __Sleeping pills __Vitamins __Minerals __Herbals

agers doors. If you have not beencontacted in a reasonable amount of

time it is probably due to the fact thatwe don’t know whom to call or whatthe challenge you are facing.

Dog walking at dark:Please be aware that often times

you may not be visible to someonedriving after dark. Please insure that

you have some sort of identifier onyour person, a flash light, light reflect-ing clothes or even a lighted leash.

Speeding also remains a chal-lenge within the community. Pleaseremember that the speed limit is 15MPH.

We would like to address an on-going issue regarding noisy vehicles.A noisy vehicle is strictly prohibited bythe rules and regulations.

Guillermo’s CornerGraffiti is everywhere. The taggers

have moved from the exterior of thepark to the inside of your clubhouses!A person or people unknown havebeen tagging the laundry room in themain club house. Please be awareand if you see someone suspicious-ly holding a spray paint can in theirhands, take note of whom, where andwhen and report this to management.

Trash continues to be an issuethroughout your community. We arediscovering trash in the visitor parking

areas, in and around the club housecommon areas, and continuing in thecar wash areas.

One challenge that Guillermo fac-es on an ongoing basis is a result ofclothing collections. As residents areplacing their bags of clothing on thecurb in front of their homes, we haveother individuals that are picking upthese bags of clothing, taking themto the car wash area and then sort-ing through them, spreading them allover in the process. We would ask thatyour clothing donations be placed infront of your home the night beforethe pickup if at all possible and notput them out days in advance.

Resident parking in visitor park-ing continues to be a challenge forSpanish Ranch #1 MHP.

Guillermo also wants to remind

everyone that the gutter area in frontof your home is your responsibility tokeep clean. This includes picking updebris that is there and disposing of itproperly. Please don’t simply “wash” itdown to your neighbor’s home.

No Resident Concerns

COMMUNITY:

Helping Hand: No calls this month.

Neighborhood Watch meets February 11. No calls, though Clint noted that stolen cars continue to be aproblem. It was reported that a driver went rampag-ing around the park one or two days after Christmasin a car, including down Salamanca where a resi-dent may have gotten pictures. Without witnesses,

the police can do nothing because it happenedon private property despite obvious property dam-age and many people knowing who is responsible.Anyone who may have photos of this incident, orany others like it, is requested to turn them into thepolice or park management.

Mary Fabian, once again assigned to our area asCrime Prevention Specialist, attended the Decembermeeting. A young man visited to ask when the policepatrol the park.

NERT  — February Creek Cleanup is a definite gounless it’s raining since December was skipped. Therewas some discussion about the fact that the collect-ed debris wasn’t picked up by the county in a timelymanner for two sessions. Dawn will try and find out ifthere are scheduling or other problems of which wearen’t aware, or if there’s anything different we needto do to make sure our cleanup efforts don’t end up just getting dumped back in the creek.

HMOA —Meets January 18, 2014 at New EnglandVillage. An informal program talking further aboutidentity theft is planned.

OLD BUSINESSFlea Market scheduled for March 8 is presumedto be on track though coordinator Patty Little wasn’tpresent to confirm this.

Monte Carlo night —  Pat S. has found that equip-ment for this type of event, starting with tables rentingfor $100 each, is probably too expensive to consider.

NEW BUSINESS

Permit required to build a shed?  — An inquiry hasbeen received questioning whether the manage-ment notice that runs periodically in the El Toro about

permits required is accurate in that it says that a per-mit is required to construct a shed. Also whether hav-ing sheds is provided for the Mobilehome ResidencyLaw (MRL). Jeanie agreed to research this and hasfound that the MRL doesn’t deal with specifics but

says park rules and city regulations must be followedwith regard to the “mobilehome, appurtenancesand accessory structures” which presumably meansa shed or storage building.

A permit is NOT required from the city for construc-tion of a shed, but park rules specify that you mustget permission from management and follow thespecifications for construction materials and place-ment. The size may not exceed 100 sq ft., a restrictionrequired by the park because of the small size ofthe lots, when the MRL may allow somewhat larger“accessory structures” in parks with larger individuallots.

Elections  information has begun running in the ElToro but no one has reported any interest.

It was announced that the schedules for AC Transitbusses serving the park have changed. The Shopperspecial #391 and the #68 that came by in front wereeliminated with other lines partially replacing them.

Pat announced new social media that attemptsto link neighbors for the purpose of sharing informa-tion called nextdoor.com. She will email links.
