EKMA4567 Modul 8Proses Pengambilan Keputusan Konsumen
12 April 2014
Oleh: Priyandi P. Kusumah
I. Konsep Dasar Pengambilan Keputusan Konsumen
3 tingkatan spesifik pengambilan keputusan konsumen:
4 Perspektif Pengambilan Keputusan Konsumen
Perspektif Ekonomi
Perspektif Pasif
Berlawanan dg no. 1, self-service interest: konsumen sbg orang yg pd dasarnya tunduk pd kepentingan mereka sendiri & usaha promosi para pemasar. Konsumen dianggap tidak rasional.
Perspektif Kognitif
Perpektif Emosi
Pembelian dilakukan berdasarkan ketidakpastian emosi (unsure emosional)
II. Proses pengambilan keputusan konsumen (5 tahap)
BUYERS BLACK BOX
Perception also plays an important role in influencing the buying decision of consumers.
Buying decisions of consumers also depend on the following factors:
Messages, advertisements, promotional materials, a consumer goes through also called selective exposure.
Not all promotional materials and advertisements excite a consumer. A consumer does not pay attention to everything he sees. He is interested in only what he wants to see. Such behaviour is called selective attention.
Consumer interpretation refers to how an individual perceives a particular message.
A consumer would certainly buy something which appeals him the most. He would remember the most relevant and meaningful message also called as selective retention. He would obviously not remember something which has nothing to do with his need.
5
When?
How?
Internal: diri sendiri, ATAU
External: environment, marketing stimuli (e.g., iklan Hypermart/ Carefour)
Proses pengambilan keputusan konsumen (Tahap 1)
Step 1:
(e.g., semua atribut yang terkait)
Step 2:
(e.g., daftar brand dr barang/ jasa terkait)
Step 3: Mengembangkan value perceptions
Bagaimana caranya mencari informasi?
Internal Search (ingatan)
External Search
Personal: Keluarga, teman, tetangga (sumber yg paling berpengaruh)
Commercial: Iklan, salesman (sumber yg paling sering dijumpai)
Public: Media massa (koran, majalah, dsb), Internet (Twitter, Kaskus, dsb)
Experiential: Menyentuh, memeriksa, atau dg menggunakan produk
Merumuskan kriteria pembelian
Menghasilkan alternatif yang mungkin diambil
Proses pengambilan keputusan konsumen (Tahap 2)
Some movie, word-of-mouth increase sales, some are the other way around.
Faktor-faktor yg dpt Meningkatkan Pencarian Informasi Sebelum Pembelian
a. Faktor Produk
b. Faktor Situasi
c. Faktor Konsumen
9
Menghasilkan daftar merek (i.e., evoked or consideration set)
Proses pengambilan keputusan konsumen (Tahap 3)
Awareness set (daftar merek yg diketahui konsumen)
Inept set (rangkaian merek yg tidak layak)
Inert set (rangkaian merek yg tidak aktif)
Evoke set (rangkaian merek yg diminati)
Exposure selektif konsumen thd promosi
Product positioning yg tidak tepat dlm periklanan, kulitas rendah
Merek dipersepsikan tdk memiliki manfaat yg jelas
Kapan?
Menggunakan compensatory models (e.g., Fishbeins Multi-attribute Model)
Dengan survei
Proses pengambilan keputusan konsumen (Tahap 4)
Purchase decision--Choose buying alternative, includes product, package, store, method of purchase etc.
Fishbeins Multi-Attribute Model
Nilai persepsi setiap produk (j) yang memiliki atribut(k)
Nilai kepentingan setiap atribut(k)
Index produk
Consumer Value Maps: contoh
Proses pengambilan keputusan konsumen (Tahap 4)
Keputusan Pembelian (8.23 8.30)
1. Kaidah Keputusan berdasarkan Kompensasi (Compensatory Decision Rules)
Evaluasi positif (kelebihan dr suatu atribut) dapat menutupi/ menyeimbangkan evaluasi negatif (kelemahan atribut lain).
Biasa dipakai jika konsumen mengambil keputusan dalam situasi keterlibatan tinggi
2. Non-compensatory Decision Rules
Conjunctive rules
Konsumen menetapkan batas minimum standar (cutoff point) u/ setiap atribut yg dievaluasi.
Dapat mengurangi jumlah alternatif yg dipertimbangkan dg cepat.
Disjunctive rules
Menetapkan tingkat kerja minimal u/ setiap atribut yg dianggap penting
Lexicographic rules (berdasarkan peringkat)
Konsumen membandingkan berbagai alternatif merek dari satu sifat yg dianggap paling penting. Jika suatu merek memiliki atribut yg berada posisi ranking teratas maka merek itu dipilih.
Konsumen memilih satu merek yg memiliki atribut paling baik.
Keputusan Pembelian (8.23 8.30)
3. Affect Referral Decision Rules
Gaya hidup sbg strategi keputusan konsumen
Rangkaian keputusan
Pembelian uji coba (trial purchase)
Pembelian kembali/ berulang (repeat purchase)
Pembelian berdasarkan komitmen jangka panjang (long-term commitment purchase)
Keputusan Pembelian (8.23 8.30)
Merupakan kondisi dimana konsumen membandingkan pengalaman pembelian dg ekspektasi/ harapannya.
Terdapat 3 kemungkinan hasil evaluasi:
Netral
Positive confirmation of expectation
Negative confirmation of expectation
Proses pengambilan keputusan konsumen (Tahap 5)
III. Model Pengambilan Keputusan Konsumen
Model Nicosia
Model perilaku pembelian Howard-Sheth
Model Engel-Blackwell-Miniard
Model Proses Pembelian Adopsi
Model tradisional proses adopsi pembelian Paul Peter
Model Proses Pembelian Adopsi Henry Asael
Model proses adopsi pembelian menurut Neal Quester
Model Nicosia
Motivasi pembelian konsumen
Penggunaa produk oleh konsumen
Konsumen berusaha memnuhi tujuan spesifiknya.
Funnel approach (pendekatan pipa): konsumen bergerak dr pengetahuan produk yg umum menjadi pengetahuan merek yg spesifik. Konsumen pasif konsumen aktif.
Model Howard-Sheth
Dibagi menjadi 3 tingkat pengambilan keputusan;
Extensive problem solving
Limited problem solving
Routinized response behaviour
4 komponen utama:
Variabel Input (stimulus pd lingkungan)
Variabel Output (respon konsumen thd stimulus pd Variabel Input)
Konstruk Hipotesis
Perceptual Construct
Learning Construct
Variabel Eksogen
Model Howard-Sheth
Model Engel-Blackwell-Miniard
This model breaks down the consumer decision process into seven basic decisions that have to be taken during the purchase process:-
Need Recognition
Search for Information
Prepurchase Evaluation of Alternatives
Purchase
Consumption
Post-Consumption Evaluation
Divestment
In themselves each of these decisions are almost self explanatory and we can easily identify with them and relate them to our own purchase experiences. However when we come to generalize this model we need to consider the factors that influence each of the stages in the process.
Need recognition This is influenced by three factors:-
Environmental Influences
Individual Differences and
Memory
So clearly this initial stage is strongly influenced by the specific situation, the individual and their past experience, however this can be influenced by marketing activity, if for example past experience of purchasing a product has been positive, perhaps a strong, positive image of a product or brand has been made in the buyers memory and the purchase environment has been made conducive to a specific purchase.
Search For Information Again this can be more complex, firstly the search process is both an internal and an external process. If the purchase situation is a familiar one, the purchasers memory might satisfactorily provide the information needed. The level of information required to the involvement, experience and level of perceived risk so even if there has been a significant degree of past experience if there is a high degree of involvement or risk the purchase will require an external search for information.
Prepurchase Evaluation - Once the information is brought together the purchaser will make their decision this is the result of their individual characteristics. This might be a simple process or a complex process, a logical or an emotional purchase or the result of a simplification. Where complex information requires processing often a heuristic or simple rational is used. This might be to base the purchase on a single feature or benefit that will be used as a surrogate for quality or low risk, or the choice reduced to one of brand.
Purchase and Consumption These are highly individual aspects but in some purchases they are extremely important, particularly in the way they influence future purchase behaviour. For example services such as they are actually produced at the time of consumption.
Post Consumption Evaluation After consumption the purchaser will either consciously or unconsciously evaluate and decide if the result of purchase process was satisfaction or dissatisfaction. This feeds back into the future purchase behaviour either stimulating a more complex behaviour in the future due to an increased level of perceived risk or as a simplification of the behaviour as the purchaser will have learnt by a positive reinforcement.
Divestment Finally a consumer will need to consider how they will divest themselves of the purchase. The resale value of high ticket items is an important factor in the purchase decision. Increasingly ecological factors also effect purchase decisions will the item be recycled?
As with all models of human behaviour this model provides a framework for analysis that can influence marketing decisions or explain problems that might arise in the purchase process. Models are far less in predicting what will happen, how consumers will react.

The major advantage and strenght of the theory lied in the precision with which a large number of variables have been linked in the working relationships to cover most aspects of the purchase decision and the effective utilization of contribution from the behavioural sciences. The weakness stems from the fact that, there being substantial measurement error, the theory cannot be realistically tested. The distinction between the exogenous and endogenous variables is not clear cut. And some of these variables do not lend themselves easily to measurement and other defy precise definition.
One of the key strengths of the Consumer Decision Model is that it has continued to evolve since original publication in 1968 (J.F. Engel,Kollatet al.1968), evolutions that should have improved the explanatory power of the model in light of advances in consumer behaviour theory and knowledge. One such evolution is the inclusion of such factors as consumption and divestment, embracing contemporary definitions of Jeff Bray Consumer Behaviour Theory: Approaches and Models consumer behaviour which include such stages of consumption in their scope (Peter ANDOlson 2008, Schiffman ANDKanuk 2007, Solomon,Bamossyet al.2006). The model provides a clear depiction of the process of consumption making it easy to comprehend and intuitively pleasing (Foxall 1990). The mechanistic approach is, however, criticised to be too restrictive to adequately accommodate the variety of consumer decision situations (Erasmus,Boshoffet al.2001, Loudon ANDDella Bitta 1993).

Model Proses Pembelian Adopsi
4 elemen dasar proses difusi:
Innovation
Channels of Communication
Social System
Time
2. Model tradisional proses adopsi pembelian Paul Peter
Merupakan rangkaian variabel kognitif konsumen (awareness, comprehension, evaluation, etc) yg kemudian diikuti dengan perilaku pembelian
3. Model Proses Pembelian Adopsi Henry Asael
