Sowing the seeds of organic learningLocated near the intersection of

141 and McGinnis Ferry Road in Johns Creek, Johns Creek Montessori School of Georgia provides excellence in Montessori education for children 15 months to six years old.

JCMSOG provides an authentic Montessori environment, where each individual’s needs are respected and everyone works together for the good of the community. The focus is al-ways on helping the children to de-velop themselves in a caring, peaceful environment. By helping children to develop independence, we assist them in their physical and emotional devel-opment. As their sense of security in their ability to care for themselves and their environment grows, their brains have more energy or "bandwidth" for increased academic learning. Ad-ditionally, this focus on development of muscular control is a first step in developing self-discipline. The multi-age groupings in our classroom allow for non-competitive, mutually beneficial relationships between children. The younger children learn by observing the older children. The older children test

their learning by repeating lessons for their younger friends.

Our specially trained, Montessori-certified teachers act as “guides” to the extensive curriculum, planting a seed of wonder that grows into a desire for greater knowledge. This dynamic, structured environment nurtures a strong work ethic, love of learning, and a passion for discovery not found in other schools. Each of our vibrant classroom communities are outfitted with high quality Montessori materials designed to meet each child's individual developmental needs, so that no matter a child's learning style or pace, we have the right equipment on hand to give him exactly what he needs.

Dr. Maria Montessori wrote: “Educa-tion should no longer be mostly impart-ing of knowledge, but must take a new path, seeking the release of human potentialities.” Help your child to reach their full potential.

The JCMSOG Difference is best experienced in person. Please call 770-814-8001to schedule a tour to observe our “Montessori Magic” or visit www.JCMSOG.org.

Woodward North embraces tradition and innovationAs Woodward North builds upon 25

years of proven success, the satellite campus of Woodward Academy contin-ues its strong, established traditions of excellence while embracing new and innovative programs for students in Pre-K through sixth grade. The school provides a warm, nurturing environ-ment where every student finds his or her own unique strength and talent. Its convenient location is in Johns Creek, on a 33-acre wooded campus with a nature trail that is used for educational and recreational purposes.

Wise Guidance at Every StepAt Woodward North, the focus is on

innovative practices in the classroom with a curriculum that emphasizes critical thinking. With a student-teach-er ratio average of only 10:1, students receive wise guidance at every step, discover their greatest strengths, and build life-shaping qualities of good character.

In addition to its rigorous academic program for mainstream students, Woodward North also offers its ac-claimed Transition Program for stu-dents with diagnosed learning disabili-ties in fourth through sixth grades.

Prolific Opportunities to Try and Triumph

Woodward North offers a wide range of clubs, arts opportunities, and intra-mural sports. Its lively arts offerings include show choir, dance, orchestra, handbells, and a full array of visual arts options. Students also can choose from horseback riding, fencing, golf, tap class, jump rope club, and a variety of

intramural sports as well as a robust robotics program and a competitive chess club. Woodward North’s Odyssey of the Mind program has reached the World Championships multiple times.

Deep Respect for DifferenceStudents at Woodward North de-

velop a deep respect for difference in a community where diversity is more than skin deep. Peers from a broad ar-ray of religious and ethnic

backgrounds come together to find opportunities to explore and excel at every level, whatever their interests. At Woodward North, students not only learn about other cultures but experi-ence them daily in their interactions with friends and in their celebrations of special holidays throughout the year including Ramadan, Diwali, Hanuk-kah, Christmas, Kwanzaa, Chinese New Year, NowRuz, and others.

Parents, faculty, and administrators agree that Woodward North students not only excel academically but also possess a strong sense of values and an extraordinary sense of empathy toward their fellow classmates. Because of their experiences at Woodward, they are more confident and well-prepared in today's evolving world.

Discover the Woodward DifferenceThe large majority of Woodward

North students continue their educa-tion at Woodward’s Main Campus in College Park beginning in seventh grade, where they join peers from 100 different zip codes and 23 metro At-lanta counties. The Academy provides bus transportation to and from College

Park, and many students choose to ride MARTA, in designated Woodward cars with assigned security officers.

A typical Woodward Academy gradu-ating class attends more than 100 dif-ferent colleges and universities, devotes

5,000 hours to community service proj-ects, and earns more than $13 million in scholarship awards.

From Kindergarten Prep through Eighth Grade, The Davis Academy provides a challenging and enriching edu-cation based on an innovative, student-centric curriculum. The learning and the “ahas” happen not only in classrooms, but also in our state-of-the-art science labs, new outdoor nature sanctuary, creativity-driving idea labs and in global video conferences with kids from other classrooms around the globe.

The Davis Academy pro-gram includes project-based learning, integrated technol-ogy, accelerated math, fine arts, athletics, world lan-guages, community service, student government, overnight trips, after-school programs, and parent (and grandparent) learning opportunities. The Davis Academy is a welcoming community that appreciates di-versity and encourages family participation.

Beyond academics, we teach life skills, instill Jewish values, and provide a wide va-riety of experiences so that our students become well-balanced

and self-confident individuals. Davis Academy students dis-tinguish themselves academi-cally, as well as in the arts and sports. The strong foundation they receive at The Davis Acad-emy enables our graduates to succeed at the high schools and colleges of their choice, with exemplary academic and leadership skills.

Named a 2015 Top Work-place by the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, an honor re-ceived by survey feedback from the school’s own employees, Davis Academy’s excellence is a direct reflection of the commitment of its exceptional faculty, who use expertise, ex-perience, caring and guidance to get to know each child and nurture the development of his or her unique talents

The Davis Academy is recognized as the largest Re-form Jewish Day School in the country and the largest K-8 academic organization in Geor-gia. We are accredited through SACS (Southern Association of Colleges & Schools) and SAIS (Southern Association of Inde-pendent Schools).

Fulton Science Academy Private School offers students of Georgia a real difference in education. The school focuses on S.T.E.A.M. education to meet the growing demand for higher level logic and reason-ing skills necessary for future student success. Additionally, the school works to develop student presentation, writ-ing, organization, and time-management abilities from the earliest grades. They offer advanced and gifted curricula taught for greater retention and achievement by a nation-

ally award winning faculty. We limit class size to a

maximum of 18 students for Pre-K through 5th grade and 20 students for 6th grade and up allowing for focused indi-vidualized student attention. The small and structured envi-ronment, along with uniforms, keeps students focused on their studies. Since there are little to no discipline issues, the faculty and administration can utilize their time to teach and continually seek ways to improve their educational model.

The school considers devel-opment of the whole student as important as academics. Phys-ical education is a part of every school day to keep students healthy and active. For a cre-ative outlet, students take part in art, music, robotics, and computer classes every week. Many other enrichment oppor-tunities are offered including free after-school clubs, band, orchestra, and top perform-ing academic teams to develop student social skills.

Fulton Science Acad-emy is proud to have some of

Georgia’s strongest academic teams. After a very successful competition season at the state level, our school is represent-ing Georgia in four different national and/or global events this year. These events are:

National Science Olympiad, Nebraska

North American First Lego League Tournament, California

Global Destination Imagi-nation Competition, Tennessee

For over 108 years Riv-erside Military Academy has produced young men of purpose, integrity, and char-acter. We offer a traditional, American-style education where personal values, honor, and love of country still mat-ter. Riverside is not owned or operated by any particu-lar religious denomination, but supports the spiritual and educational goals of all families.

Upon graduation, a Riv-erside cadet has experienced the challenges of the military model of education and is completely prepared for the rigors of college. He is poised, polite, and confident in any social environment. River-side cadets stand tall, offer a

firm handshake, respect au-thority, and display a level of confidence that parents may not have observed previously.

Cadets of Riverside Mili-tary Academy attend grades 7 through 12 and benefit from a small class size and a 15:1 student teacher ratio. Our entire educational program centers around the way young men learn best.

Riverside’s College Center assists cadets in preparing for and placing their col-lege applications each year. The graduating class 2014 consisted of 91 cadets who were admitted to over 105 universities across the world and earned over $4.2 million in collegiate scholarships not including HOPE scholarship.

The Expeditionary STEM School

According to the U.S. Department of Education’s website, “it’s more important than ever for our youth to be equipped with the knowl-edge and skills to solve tough problems, gather and evalu-ate evidence, and make sense of information. These are the types of skills that students learn by studying science, technology, engineering, and math—subjects collectively known as STEM.”

At Amana Academy in Alpharetta, “students are doing STEM with a purpose,” says the charter school’s principal, Cherisse Campbell.  Students are using STEM to answer questions like, “how far does food travel to get to my table?”

and “can I build a solar-pow-ered tiny house that a home-less person could actually live in?”

They find the answers to these questions, and others like them, during semester-long, interdisciplinary Learn-ing Expeditions that integrate all of their learning standards into exciting journeys that take kids and teachers out of the classroom and into the real world in their quest to find the answers.

Currently in its 10th year of operation, Amana is a tuition-free public charter school serv-ing 750 students in grades K-8 in Fulton County.  Tour dates are available on their website at www.amanaacademy.org.

room. The school is housed in a

20,000 square foot, state-of-the-art building complete with a children’s garden, outdoor classroom, spacious library, learning kitchen, computer lab, indoor café, outside pic-nic patio, two music rooms, and traditional Montessori furnishings.

The following daily enrich-ments are offered as part of our Montessori curriculum at no additional cost: Coding and Robotics, Spanish, Music, Art, Cooking, Physical Educa-tion, Tai Chi and Organic

Gardening. Even our Pre-Primary students participate in Physical Education, art and Spanish. Transportation to and from regular field trips is provided by the new Montes-sori Kids Academy school bus.

In addition to regular field trips that are off-site, we have many different visitors such as the Forsyth County fire-fighters, police and K-9 unit, Recycling Center, the Reptile Man and many other people who help complement our curriculum. Students enjoy daily yoga and journal writing in their classrooms as well as the computer lab.

Montessori Kids Academy uses the program Montessori Compass. This is a web-site that gives the parents a snapshot of their child’s day, lets them track their child’s progress, shares pictures, and provides general information about the Montessori philoso-phy and the purpose of each lesson.

It also educates the par-ents on the importance of providing their children with a strong foundation to build all future learning and how a Montessori education helps build this foundation.

Montessori Kids Academy also offers an academic sum-mer camp where students can learn while having fun. While at camp, the students will continue with Montessori Language Arts and Mathemat-ics materials and lessons.

The students will also par-ticipate in weekly field trips, either in-house for our young-est campers or off-site for the older students.

Every day has an exciting new activity and each week’s theme will bring new excite-ment to the students as they learn about the world around them as well as tap into their creativity and imagination.
