JOB SPECIFICATION

PURPOSE: Donegal Sports Partnership’s (DSP) key aims are to increase participation in sport at all levels throughout the community and to ensure local resources are used to best effect. DSP provides quality opportunities for education and training at a local level for individuals, clubs and volunteers. DSP now wish to appoint an Education and Training Coordinator on a 12 month fixed term contract. This is a new job role and is supported by the North West Sports Development programme under the Programme for Regional Growth & Development together with Donegal County Council and Derry & Strabane District Council. MAIN DUTIES:

Assisting in the planning, development and management of a sports education and training service in line with the overall objectives for Donegal Sports Partnership and the North West Sports Development Plan.

Promoting, nurturing, and engaging with the sporting community in the North West of Ireland; specifically with the identified sports of Gymnastics, Cricket, Hockey and Boxing.

Supporting identified sports around training and education needs and the capacity building of volunteers.

Assisting local sports clubs to incrementally build their capacities through further education and training.

Supporting existing and new Donegal Sports Partnership tutors and staff with continuous professional development opportunities.

Developing partnerships and links with sports, community and statutory organisations on the Island of Ireland to develop and sustain the programme.

Liaising with the various National Governing Bodies of Sport on the Island of Ireland and other sports organisations in supporting grassroots sport clubs to build further capacity including Community Coaching and Building Positive Clubs programmes.

Maintaining an effective administration system to record all training and education delivered by or on behalf of Donegal Sports Partnership including reports, submissions and presentations.

ROLE REQUIREMENTS: Technical

Demonstrable broad experience in the area of sports development including the delivery of sport related education and training.

A strong understanding of participation sport including programmes that support the more marginalised and disadvantaged in society to engage with sport and physical activity.

Demonstrated training experience and knowledge of relevant training methodologies.

Ability to deliver and evaluate bespoke training & education programmes on behalf of Donegal Sports Partnership and the various partner organisations.

Facts about the employer Donegal Sports Partnership (DSP)

Established in 2001 to support the further development of participation sport across

County Donegal with a focus on the low participation sectors especially the more

marginalised and disadvantaged in society.

Two principal aims are to grow participation and to support the development of capacity

building through education and training.

Structured as a Company Limited by Guarantee with a dedicated Board of Directors

representative of all the main statutory and community and voluntary sectors of the

County including Donegal Co Council, Donegal ETB, HSE, LYIT, Local Partnership

Companies, Community and Voluntary sectors.

Primary source of funding is via Sport Ireland who are the national body with

responsibility for sports development in Ireland. However DSP also attract funding from

local statutory organisations, cross border and European sources.

Currently the DSP have 5 full time and a further 4 part time staff employed in

management, administrative and project development roles.

The DSP have a dedicated officer working on the provision of sport for people with a

disability.

The DSP operate a strong model for partnership at board level but also in establishing and

anchoring sport programmes within the many communities in County Donegal.

Among the programmes in which the DSP have responsibility for include Girls Active,

Community Hubs Programme, Sports Leadership, Community Coaching, Men on the

Move, Sports Inclusion Disability Programme, Ag Súgradh le Cheile, Balanceability (Bike

Programme) , Cross Border Sport Programmes, Go for Sport – Sports Hall Athletics for

Primary Schools.

As part of any recruitment process, Donegal Sports Partnership (DSP) collects and processes personal data relating to job applicants. DSP is committed to being transparent about how it collects and uses that data and to meeting its data protection obligations.

1. What information does DSP collect? a. DSP collects a range of information when recruiting. This includes:

i) your name, address and contact details, including email address and telephone number;

ii) details of your qualifications, skills, experience and employment history; iii) information about your current level of remuneration, including benefit

2. Why does DSP process personal data? a. DSP needs to process data to take steps at your request prior to entering into a contract

with you. It also needs to process your data to enter into a contract with you. b. In some cases, DSP needs to process data to ensure that it is complying with its legal

obligations. For example, it is required to check a successful applicant's eligibility to work in Republic of Ireland before employment starts.

c. DSP has a legitimate interest in processing personal data during the recruitment process and for keeping records of the process. Processing data from job applicants allows DSP to manage the recruitment process, assess and confirm a candidate's suitability for employment and decide to whom to offer a job. e. DSP processes health information if it needs to make reasonable adjustments to the recruitment process for candidates who have a disability. This is to carry out its obligations and exercise specific rights in relation to employment.

f. Garda Vetting – It is a condition of employment that all successful applicants are Garda Vetted through the National Bureau of the Garda Siochana. DSP is obliged to seek information about criminal convictions and offences. Where DSP seeks this information, it does so because it is necessary for it to carry out its obligations and exercise specific rights in relation to employment.

g. DSP will not use your data for any purpose other than the recruitment exercise for which you have applied.

3. Who has access to data? a. Your information will be shared internally for the purposes of the recruitment exercise.

6. Your rights a. As a data subject, you have a number of rights. You can:

i) access and obtain a copy of your data on request (subject access request);

ii) require the organisation to change incorrect or incomplete data; iii) require the organisation to delete or stop processing your data, for example where

the data is no longer necessary for the purposes of processing; iv) object to the processing of your data where the organisation is relying on its

legitimate interests as the legal ground for processing; and v) ask the organisation to stop processing data for a period if data is inaccurate or

there is a dispute about whether or not your interests override the organisation's legitimate grounds for processing data.

7. What if you do not provide personal data?

You are under no statutory or contractual obligation to provide data to DSP during the recruitment process. However, if you do not provide the information, DSP may not be able to process your application properly or at all.

8. Automated decision-making

Recruitment processes are not based on automated decision-making.
