Skill • An ability and capacity acquired through deliberate,

systematic, and sustained effort to smoothly and adaptively carryout complex activities or job functions involving ideas (cognitive skills), things(technical skills) and/or people(interpersonal skills).

Introduction• Human capital—defined as the “stock of economically

productive human capabilities” encompasses knowledge, health, skills, entrepreneurial talent, determination and other human traits that lead to success in endeavors.

• The capabilities are formed by combining innate abilities with investment in human beings.

• Human capital is obtained through general education and is transferable from one enterprise/endeavor to another.

• Skills are a subset of human capital specific to a particular task, job or enterprise and are obtained through specialized education or training, such as carpentry or dentistry.

• From the study, It was established that there was a general shortage of qualified insurance professionals within the region.
