Hernán Moreno is a Colombian-Canadian filmmaker based in Calgary. His body of work has both Film and Video pieces. His short films have been screened as part of film festivals in Europe, Asia, South and North America. Hernán has been a member of the Calgary Society of Independent Filmmakers (CSIF) since 2006.

Roman Olorvida Jr discovered the love for the film when he was 17 years old. He started to make his first film “Panaginip” (dream) and won as the best film. He continued his desire to make films and became the chairman of Cinemorayta Film Festival of their school in the Philippines. Currently, Roman is taking Digital Cinema at Northern Alberta Institute of Technology to improve his knowledge and skills on the said field.

He believes that documentary films play an important role in informing and educating the viewer by providing context and understanding to the world around them.

Director: Nathan Schmidt Rosebud, AlbertaNathan Schmidt is a theatre artist based in Rosebud, where he works with Rosebud School of the Arts and other theatres in Calgary and Vancouver. Nathan also works as a Fight Director and Musician. Directing credits include “Comedy of Errors” (Rosebud School of the Arts) and “The last five years” (Madness and Merriment Productions).

My Old ManAs a solitary kid grows and plays with plastic garbage and tape, he notices an elderly man collecting abandoned things along the neighbour streets. The Old Man needs them to hold together the physical evidence of his past – piled up in his sitting room.

Carlo Ghioni is a writer and director who has directed a full length feature film, 16 documentaries, numerous shorts and one interactive documentary. Born in Italy, Ghioni studied film history at the University of Turin.

Hands on My BodyThe story of an empowered woman who is unafraid to ask for what she wants.
Director: Mariya Stokes Calgary, Alberta
If Kacey Musgraves and Meghan Trainor had a country-soul love-child, the result would be Mariya Stokes. With the release of her debut single, “Hands on My Body” in February 2019, Stokes introduces herself with a simple, sexy anthem that blurs the lines between country and pop. Although she is a first-time film director, Stokes is a seasoned musician.
Rutherford Manor – TeaserStep into Rutherford Manor, home of the ruthless Fleshers and cunning Savidges. Based on the award-winning Rutherford Manor Haunt, this teaser hints at how the family got its gruesome reputation.

Jared graduated with honours from the film/video program at Southern Alberta Institute of Technology (SAIT), and in the years since graduation has completed several short films, including an award winning documentary (Hooked). He is currently at work co-writing a new web series and is in the script stage on several new short films.

Video Store CommericalA desperate video store owner hires a crew to shoot a commercial in his shop. But when they accidentally destroy a cursed VHS, suddenly, all their lives are in danger, and the commercial may never get finished.

Passionate about movies for as long as he can remember, Tim has a unique approach to storytelling, inspired by Canadian greats and independent legends of the direct-to-video era. A steady diet of ’80s and ’90s B movies along with a healthy dose of cinematic spectacles from all corners of the globe served as the kindling that lit Cody’s filmmaking fire.

Jessica Gélinas, Canada Garage Tanguay and Sons/ Garage Tanguay et fils Simon takes over the family business, the Garage Tanguay et Fils, when his father passes away. His cousin decides to shoot a documentary about Simon.that doesn’t go as expected.In 2012, Jessica Gélinas graduated as a director from the The National Institute of Image and Sound in Canada. In the same year she received a grant from the Canadian Academy of Cinema and Television. Since, she has worked as a director on many professional projects.
Joshua Vanderlinden, Canada Off WorldA single father living in the slums of a futuristic dystopia attempts to illegally escape to an off world colony to prevent his son’s illness from becoming fatal.Joshua Vanderlinden is a Director and Producer based in Edmonton, Alberta and Vancouver, BC. Originally getting his start in theatre, he is a graduate of the Capilano University Motion Picture Arts program and has spent his time producing, writing and directing short films.
Fokke Baarssen, Netherlands SwungA young man moves back in with his mom after breaking up with his wife, but soon finds out that his mom has a strange new hobby. A poignant story of elderly independence.Fokke was born and raised in Almelo, a small town in The Netherlands. Shortly after attending the New York Film Academy, Fokke directed his first short fiction film ‘De Raad’ to great acclaim. Fokke went on to co-produce the multi-award winning American documentary ‘Destressed’ in 2014. Fokke spends his time on the production company Cosmic Visual.

He started making films in 2014, though it was his film “Clean Colored Wire” that started earning him some recognition after it was shown at multiple festivals across the globe. Since then, he has directed commercials, music videos, and documentaries.
Mahsa Razavi, Canada A Celebration8-year-old Ada tries to convince her immigrant mother to celebrate Thanksgiving by cooking a turkey. However, when Ada celebrates Thanksgiving like a “real Canadian”, she discovers what it truly means.Mahsa Razavi studied Sociology in Iran before moving to Canada where she earned her MFA in Film Production. She has made several short films that have been showcased in many festivals around the globe. Mahsa’s works often focus on issues of gender, identity politics and immigration experience.
John Gray, United States EXTRA INNINGSA reporter interviews a major league baseball manager in an attempt to uncover secrets.John Gray is a New York based writer-director. He created the long running hit CBS series Ghost Whisperer, as well as writing and directing many award winning and critically acclaimed movies for television.

Now, as the first test pilot preps for launch, she must risk all she loves for a chance to make history. An award-winning feature film director and writer, Gordie Haakstad’s directorial debut, Abel’s Field, was released by Sony Pictures Home Entertainment. Gordie’s background includes both cinematography and editing from the University of Southern California’s School of Cinema-Television’s Production Program.

Joe Chang, ChinaThe Music BoxThe Great Chinese Cultural Revolution was a political campaign in China launched and led by Mao Zedong from 1966 to 1976. Nearly ten million people, including outstanding scientists, artists, intellectuals and ordinary people, died during these “Ten Years of Turnmoil” or “Ten Years of Holocaust.” This animated short film is based on a real story and sets in China during the Cultural Revolution in 1967.
Greg Chwerchak, United StatesSac de MerdeBased on a true story, “Sac de Merde” tells the tale of Mazel Manewicz, an unlucky-in-love yet irrationally optimistic New Yorker who thinks her lunch has changed when she spends the night with the man of her dreams. As it turns out, he might just be full of s**. Literally.
Greg Chwerchak has helped conceive and create hundreds of music videos, for artists as wide ranging as Britney Spears, Destiny’s Child, Counting Crows, System of a Down, and Nelly; he’s also directed commercials for Gatorade, McDonald’s and ESPN. A graduate of Rice University in Houston, Chwerchak has directed two award winning shorts and has screened his films at many festivals.
Kelly Wolfert, CanadaMS’ed with the Wrong GirlPatrycia was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis in 2012 after losing sight in her left eye.
