Match Reports Round 2

U/6 Wanderers

In round 2 we were matched up with the Yellow shirts of the Glory.

It was an exciting match with goals flying in at both ends. The Wanderers players, Xavier, Jack, Freddie, Emily, Sam and Nate have been working on Dribbling for the first two weeks and all the players are devel-oping in that area. Sam, Emily and Nate all scoring great goals from long runs with the ball.

In the second half they were asked to try and com-plete some passing moves to get the ball in the net. Xavier, Jack and Fred were all very good at getting into attacking positions without the ball and then re-ceive a pass from the wide areas. Both Xavier and Jack were able to get goals this way.

It was a great effort by all the players, especially in the second half when they were asked to try some-thing a bit different. Something we hadn't really worked on. To see them not only have a good go at it, but score from it, was a great achievement for the team.

Thanks to all the parents, brothers and sisters that came to watch and cheer the team along. Enjoy the week off next week and we'll see you all back ready to go on the 23rd.

Go Wanderers

7 GLORY

It’s been an enjoyable start to the season for 7 Glory! Matty, Billy, Chad, Dean and Madison were all very

enthusiastic to play. The Glory team played the Wanderers and there were many goals scored (7) and also some great saves. It was great to see everyone having a great time. Well done 7 Glory and looking

forward to the rest of the season.

Match Reports Round 2

U10/2 Great game had by all. Round 1 we played against Toongabbie and we won 6-0. It’s good to see some-one put their hand up and be our perm goal keeper, thanks for putting your hand up Marshall. The team still has a long way to go but the boys are really wel-coming to our new players. Round 2 had us playing against Winston Hills. We won 6-2. Everyone played really well as a team.

U10/3

What a great game. To win 6-0 off the back of a large loss was fantastic. The whole team played great. Su-

per defense and 6 outstanding goals. Man of the match narrowly went to Sai for a hatrick of goals and hatrick of assists. Harry also got a hatrick playing from

midfield. Most pleasing was the defensive effort of the whole team. Well done team

Match Reports Round 2

U12/1GIRLS vs MERRYLANDS

ROUND 1

1-1 DRAW

WooHoo a draw to start our season. Considering we had no subs at all, all the girls played really well. Our keeper was a tiny little thing in goals but she made some great saves. We had Chloe scoring our goal.

ROUND 2 vs KELLYVILLE WHT

1-1 DRAW

Once again the girls showed they were unstopped on the field. Once again we had Chloe scoring our goal. We had Brooke playing in as goal keeper. The girls played hard and fair. Great game girls.

AAL1 Rnd 1

vs Rydalmere Won 3-1

Well after the off season and a few trials, the season was upon us and we were wondering how the girls

would cope with Division 1 football for the first time. Playing Rydalmere the start didnt go according to plan as even though we dominated the game Ry-

dalmere scored first, and after we hit the post for the second time I was starting to wonder if it was going to be our day. We need not have worried as the training

the girls had done started to show and even though we arent the fittest team, we were fitter than the op-

position and eventually that started to tell.

AAL1 CONT…

We got the equaliser and then went on with it to rec-ord a convincing 3-1 win. Some great performances today from all the player with Stacey 3, Pam 2 and Dana 1 earning points in the days best and fairest. Great start ladies.

AAL1 Rnd 2

vs Merrylands Won 4-2

Today was always going to be a test as we played a red hot Merrylands who won 14-0 last week and also contained 3 of our Pendo Ladies Prem players from last season. Once again the girls started slow and we conceded a sloppy goal from some poor marking and it was really a question of how the girls would react and react they did. Some incredible performances today and it was a result the girls and the club should be really proud of. After equalising twice to get to 2-2 the girls really went on with it second half and scored two more to win the game 4-2 against one of the strongest teams in the comp. Too many good performances to only give out 321 points but we settled for Keely 3 who did a great job on her direct opponent one of the best players in the competition, 2 points to Emily St who ran all day and scored an important goal as well and 1 pt to Caitlain who had a great game as well. We could of given points to every one of these girls today, Erin was immense in goals, our defence including Jess and Bonnie who both scored goals as well was awesome, our midfield of Jem, Kookie, Mon, Dana, Lauren ran all day and made those special efforts to get back and defend even when you thought they had nothing left in the tank and up front Racheal, Pam, Jaimie worked hard all game and terrorised the Merrylands defensive line.

What was pleasing was the goals we scored were team goals and we also never fired up and got angry when the opposition did. Today proved you girls de-serve to be in this competition, now we may as well try and go win it.

U13/3 WHT ROUND 1 0-7LOSS

It was great to kick off the season on our home ground, our guys were keen and put in a determined effort even though the result didn't go our way. Newington attacked early to test us out, Mukund slowed them down then Dylan sped up to them to win us possession. Chitvan showed control and got our attack going, linking with Jordan who passed back to Chitvan who found Mukund in the clear in agreed display of attacking flair.

Newington attacked again, Thomas put excellent pressure on them forcing an error as they kicked it out. Soon after Aravind made a great save as keeper, he got the ball out to Aryan, bit of slinky footwork around their defence found Mukund who showed his speed in attack winning a corner. Mithran showed awesome defence midfield, stopping them that time (and every other time too) when they tried to go through him. Athavan matched him too, using his speed to advantage numerous times. David then came on and made an immediate impact, speeding up the left side linking with Chitvan who crossed perfectly to the centre but they had us cov-ered. They turned the attack around again, forcing Aravind to make another fantastic save. Soon after it was all up to Dylan who timed his hassling defence perfectly to slow them down before attacking in de-fence to clear it for us.

Connor then showed his skill in his debut for us, attacking from the middle and being strong in de-fence. He was well assisted by Piraveen, who was fresh off the bench and straight into the action as he won the ball and moved it up into our attack zone. Connor started the second half with awesome vision to cut off their attack pass through traffic to David, who sped up and passed to Chitvan for another raid. We were applying good pressure but their defence was solid! Aravind stopped them midfield and passed to Jordan to attack,

he frustrated their keeper into a mistake when getting the ball back in play, and launched himself at the loose ball but they managed to just cover him.

Yash made another of his sweeping cover defence

runs, speeding across to win the ball and drive it for-

ward with his power boot. It led to Chitvan having a

great attempt at goal following good work from Aryan

and Mukund.

It was a good hard game to start the season, and

though Newington were just too good, we had some

great attacking phases and determined defence which

was awesome to watch.

UNDER 15/1’S VS MERRYLANDS

RESULT 2-1 WIN

After A strong win in round 1 the boys were keen for

the match against Merrylands. We hadn’t played

them before so had no idea of their style or squad.

The game was very quick with both teams pushing up

the park well. Pendo controlled possession for most

of the first half but our passing game was a bit off and

we turned over the ball too often. After a few raids

down our right side Matt D slotted a nice long range

goal to take the lead 1-0.

Half time had the coaches looking for more control

and patience with the ball form the boys as Merry-

lands were pressing hard and had some pacey de-

fenders. The boys tried hard to improve their passing

game but Merrylands were awarded a Penalty mid-

way in the half which they slotted 1-1. This spurred

the boys on again and we dominated field position for

the rest of the match. Pendo created a few good

chances and narrowly missed a couple of times be-

fore we too were awarded a Penalty. Matt D slotted it

calmly to take the lead 2-1.

That’s how the match finished and the boys were

happy with the result. Need some improvement in a

few areas to make sure we stay at the top of the

Comp.

Great to be back at Binalong and good to see plenty of parents/supporters there to cheer the boys on Adam

Premier League VS Winston Hills

2nd grade – Pendo 1 Winsto 2

A disappointing result and the boys should be disap-

pointed. We created enough chances, but we stuffed

up all but one of them. The boys played like they ex-

pected everything to come to them easily, without do-

ing the hard yards and the easy things right. As a re-

sult, the opposition ran rampant at times, which lead to

soft goals.

Special mention in dispatches goes to Josh who dou-bled up again game wise with a crook groin. He still managed some top draw saves which kept us in the match. High praise also to Ben Cronan, who played after the recent death of his grandfather, played a real strong match too and would've made his grand-dad proud. Thim tried hard up front.

1st Grade

Pendo 4 Winsto 2

Should’ve been ten nil.

No more than a good training run, Winston Hills were as hard as yogurt. We completely dominated every facet of the game except for our finishing which was poor.

P/L cont…

Again we coughed up some soft goals, including a few more penalties. Need to get that out of our game and quick.

Things were made easier when the opposition had a bloke sent off and overall Winsto looks a real weak side at present so we should not get carried away with the win. But we looked good and controlled everything and are setting a nice platform for our-selves.

Match Reports Round 2

Saturday 9th April 2016 - Round 2 Match Report 45/1’s

Pendle Hill vs Greystanes Black. 4-0 Loss

Today we welcome new team member “Macca” (Mike McLaughlin) playing his first game for the Mighty 45’s. I would like

to thank those that sat out this week “H”, “Hobo”, The Marquee” and “Turn”. Thanks for both Turn and Tappy turning

up to watch their team mates play. Their support was very much appreciated.

Once again (two weeks in a row) we had no official referee so the Marquee had to take up the whistle and officiate on

the game. He thought he was going to have and easy time just coaching the team from the bench but instead he had to

run for 80 minutes with no interchange. As the Marquee had to referee the game this report will be light on too much

detail (great I hear many yell) because notes couldn’t be taken.

We started with 16 today and with 5 on the bench we had all positions covered. We rotated the players available much

better than last week and our interchanges worked well allowing those that needed it a well-earned rest. The Governor

did well winning the toss and Greystanes kicked off. Whilst we lost 4-0 we played much better than we did last week.

Macca slotted in well at the front as the holding striker laying off good balls to Sparkles, Taxi and the Maestro. Toey and

the Mullet played well in defence as did Perry who was solid as a rock at right fullback. Carbon and Molly interchanged

well and the Governor was working hard until he had to go off with a knock to his knee. Sponge and Empty ran all day

and put over some good crosses which unfortunately we didn’t get on the end of. Shawky and the Doc interchanged well

and gave some much need pace on the flanks. Anthony was his normal bull dogging self; pushing the opposition out of the

way, falling over and hurting his already injured arm. Spider was his usual solid and never gives up working hard self.

We worked hard but they were just too good for us on the day. They scored 2 goals in each half and we limited on our

attacks on their goal. It was pleasing that we did play better than last week but we still need to keep our shape and come

back and help defend when required. I realise that it was a tiring day on the field and we did run out of stamina towards

the end of the game but once we get match fitness things will be different.

The Marquee’s man of the match was Perry who’s all round solid defensive play was clearly there for all to see. In second

place on the day was Toey with Taxi in third place both giving good displays and a top effort on the day. Taxi’s vision and

Sparkles deft and gliding moves were on display once more and their efforts unfortunately did get the reward they de-

served. Macca’s nice touches were a pleasure to watch and once he gets to know his team mates style he will fit in very

well.

The Stuff Up Shirt goes to Anthony for his swan dives and knocking players of the ball when it wasn’t in playing distance

(an easy foul for the guest referee to all).

The Marquee deserves a mention with a reasonable display of referee (probably the real man of the match) Getting all the offsides correct as he kept up with play and got into good positions to enhance his foul recognition. Per-

haps he missed a couple of over the top tackles especially the one on the Maestro.
