Is there a sense of genre in the poster? Judge how it is conveyed. Look for examples of iconography or narrative.
Which characters are on the poster? Describe what they are doing. Define their pose. Is the representation typical of the genre?
Are there critical quotes from publications? Are there any other quality markers?
Does the poster use colour? In what ways does the colour scheme support the film’s genre?
What is the title? What font is used? Explain the connotations of the words used.
What audiences could this poster appeal to? To which effect could this text have global appeal?
How is the narrative conveyed- how has it been condensed? Is there evidence of Todorov’s theory? Can you identify any enigma codes?
What evidence is there of the film’s production details? Is there a star name?
