Project Summary€1.9 Million project 75% supported by the Intelligent Energy Europe Programme (funds 8 ECF members)
Bike2Work is to achieve a significant modal shift from motorized transport to cycling by introducing behaviour change programs and internal infrastructure to employers & employees.
Bike2Work will:
• Extend and intensify existing nation-wide campaigns and initiatives
• Extend scale and coverage of local campaigns and employers’ initiatives
• Greatly increase the number of bicycle-friendly companies in Europe, especially SMEs
• Ensure the sustainability of all these measures after the end of the project
• 3 year-long EU Erasmus +
• Coordinated by the International Sports and Culture Association
• Implementation of the EU Physical Activity guidelines through:– Promoting voluntary activities in sport, social inclusion, equal
opportunities. health-enhancing physical activity (HEPA)
– Building capacity in civil society organisations to engage in cross-sector advocacy for the implementation of EU HEPA Guidelines
– European partner organisations• ISCA, ECF, EPODE International Network, European Physical
Education Association (EUPEA), International Association of Sport and Leisure Infrastructure Management (IASLIM).
– National level partners: • Poland (V4Sport), Bulgaria (BG BE Active), France (UFOLEP), Greece
(Greenway SCE) and Italy (UISP)

• Promotes switch of travel habits from cars to walking & cycling in 8 cities
• How it works: Targets are approached at turning points in their lives ex. changing school or job or moving home
• SWITCH uses information and communication technologies (ICT) and personalised travel planning advice by experts
• ECF role: Technical support, dissemination, development of local campaigns.
• Duration: Until May 2016
• FLOW puts walking and cycling on an equal footing
with motorized transport
• How it works: A user-friendly methodology assesses
the effectiveness of walking and cycling measures
against congestion.
• FLOW targets cities, businesses and decision-
makers.
• ECF role: Advocacy & improvement of traffic
modelling tools with cycling data.

• Pro-E-Bike project promotes E-bikes as an
alternative to “conventional fossil fuelled”
vehicles in 8 pilot cities.
• ECF role: EU communications and
dissemination.
• Project ended with many success stories:
- The Croatian Post purchased a fleet of 180 e-
bikes.
- Five cities in Sweden bought e-bikes for their
city staff.
