EC Meeting II - Neurological Society of India
Minutes of the Annual EC Meeting (21st December 2012 at Leela Kempinski, Delhi)
Members Present:

1. Discussions were made regarding the orators and speakers at the NSICON 2013. The scientific programme
for the same was also discussed.
2. Deliberations were also made on the improper behavior and actions of some of the members during
banquets as reported by the organizing secretary Dr P Sarat Chandra.
Resolved that strict actions would be taken in future regarding the same and such issues would not be
allowed to happen in future EC resolved to have zero tolerance towards such activities.
3. The council applauded the efforts of Dr Sarat Chandra for organizing a great meeting.
4. The Secretary informed the decision regarding the constitutional amendment notice brought by Dr AK
Banerjee who was present during the GBM and his approval of accepting the tagline of Dr NH Wadia i.e.,
“The oldest Society of Neurosurgeons, Neurologists and Allied Neuroscientists of India” in the General
Body Meeting . This is to be displayed prominently along with the logo to symbolize the society. It was
decided to incorporate the same in the design of the logo
5. The conference dates of NSICON 2014 were then informed as 12th, 13th, 14th & 15th of December. The Mid-
term EC Meeting was scheduled to 4th & 5th May 2013 at Coimbatore.
6. It was also decided to authorize the Organizing Secretary NSICON 2015 Dr
V Rajesh Babu to open an account at HDFC Bank in Coimbatore. Necessary documents and letter of
permission were provided to him.
7. The announcements for the awards were then made:

The guidelines for award presentations were discussed.
8. NSI-AASAN Awards for every year were deliberated. Relationships with CNS for academic fellowships were
also discussed.

NSI ACADEMIC FORUM
Dear NSI members,
It is with great pleasure that we announce the initiation of a new academic forum on our NSI website. This will
give all of us an opportunity to test our academic acumen, disseminate knowledge and enhance our
communication with each other. We request you to wholeheartedly contribute to this endeavour to make it a
grand success.
The NSI academic forum would be under the following subheadings:
1. Case under spotlight: An entire case with clinical/operative photographs, their legends and the patient management will be summarised in about 5-6 photographs, their legends and a small paragraph of discussion. The entire write-up should not be of more than 500 words.
2. Question collage: Three multiple-choice questions related to the “Case under spotlight” will be presented and answers exhibited on the website at the end of the month. We request you to contribute to the “Case under spotlight” and “Question collage” as well as write to the “Feedback forum” regarding your opinion/management protocol for the case.
3. Management dilemma: A short history and preoperative radiology of a patient with two photographs will be presented with pertinent questions and the readers will be asked to express their opinion regarding the patient’s management in the “Feedback forum.” At the end of the month, the way the case was managed by the contributing author will be presented.
4. Resident’s niche: A small write up of basic anatomy, clinical note, histology, radiology or management in only be one paragraph of less than 300 words will be presented.
5. Opinion-O-metre: A single question may be asked and as soon as it is answered in “Yes, No or Not sure,” the real-time score will be exhibited to the reader participating in the opinion poll. A clock will also reveal the total number of responses recorded at that point in time for that particular question.
6. Feedback forum: Opinions expressed by the readers along with their name and institution will be exhibited. Anonymous letters, however, will not be entertained. This may be related to any of the above mentioned five sections.
While contributing cases, we request you to kindly maintain patient confidentiality in photographs and text. A
certification on the senior author’s letter-head signed by all authors stating that all of them have read the case
manuscript and approve its final form; that this case has neither been accepted, published nor copyrighted
by any other journal ; and, there are no conflict of issue matters associated with the manuscript, would be a
mandatory accompaniment as a scanned document attached with the e mail. This however would not be
required for contributions to the “Feedback forum.” All material published on the website will be duly
acknowledged. The editors of the website reserve the right to edit the reader’s contributions especially with
regard to corrections in English language, brevity and propriety. The contributors will be solely responsible for
their opinions and the ethical issues associated with their contributions.
The cases with photographs may be sent as word files and high resolution JPEG images to all of the e mail

NSI website is in the process of being revamped and made more functional & appealing. All members,
institutions may forward their URL identity & emails immediately to the webmaster at
[email protected] (with a copy to the secretary at [email protected] so that data
may be updated.
Members’’ Username & Password
All members (Full/Life and Associate) are eligible to obtain their Username and Password to access their
profile on the NSI website (www.neurosocietyindia.com). Since this is the only Address Database used by
all the Officials of the Society (Editor, Secretary, Treasurer, President Elect), it is in your interest to ensure
that your address and email address are accurate. All members are requested to obtain the same by
writing to the [email protected]. Details on how to access your personal profile will be
mentioned in the letter sent along with the username and password. In case of any difficulty please contact
the Webmaster at the email address mentioned above.
This is an appeal to all members to provide their email id to the Webmaster so that the communications
between the Society and the Members will be easy and paperless. You will also benefit by being sent
Email Alerts about various activities of and news about the Society Please cooperate by immediately
applying for your username and password.
Officers of Regional Neuroclubs / Societies
The Executive Committee of NSI requests all regional neuro clubs/societies to register with the NSI as
being representative of neuroscientists of that region. This registration will become mandatory to be
recognized as bona fide representative club/society of that region when bidding for the Annual Conference
of NSI. If more than one regional club/society claims representative status then a list of members who are
also NSI members with their NSI membership number and signatures will have to be appended with the
registration form. Registration form is available on the NSI website (www.neurosocietyindia.org) in the
Download forms section.
Presentation of Papers by new members at the annual conference of NSI
Please note that only new members approved prior to April 30 or whose membership application forms
have been received by the Treasurer by that date of every year will be eligible to present papers at that
year’s Annual Conference of the NSI.

This is an appeal to all members to update their full contact address with pincode as it is required for
sending the Society journal Neurology India by post. To access your address on the web based database,
please obtain Username and Password by writing to the Webmaster. Details are available on the NSI

Travelling Fellowships - NSI
Travelling fellowships are available for members of the Society to attend conferences and also to visit
different centre’s in the country.
For eligibility please visit the website (www.neurosocietyindia.org) or write to the Treasurer, NSI.
Travelling Fellowships – WFNS (I) TRUST
WFNS (I) Trust provides grants for attending workshops, short term training programs and conferences
(except annual NSI conference) both in India and abroad to members/associate members of NSI.
Neurosurgeons or trainees from SAARC countries (other than India) are eligible for grants for attending
workshops/ conferences/ training programmes in India. For details contact Prof. A.K. Banerji Secretary,

NSI Office during the Annual Conference at Mumbai (NSICON 2013)
All delegates attending the Annual Conference at Mumbai are kindly requested to report to the NSI
office as soon as possible after their registration process.
They are requested to re-verify their membership numbers and addresses so that the same can be
updated in the records as well as in the Membership Directory.
The office shall remain open throughout the conference.

1. Endoskullbase Mumbai fellowship We are happy to announce a 6 months to 1 year fellowship for a qualified neurosurgeons based mainly at the Bombay Hospital for endoscopic neurosurgery for the skullbase. 2. Fellowship in Pediatric Neurosurgery is available in Mumbai for a period up to 1 year for qualified

3. The "VI World Congress International Federation of Neuroendoscopy" will be held at Taj Mahal Hotel, Mumbai from 8th to 11th, December, 2013 with International participation for Live surgery and Cadaveric Workshop. Kindly find the details of the meeting on www.neuroendoscopy2013.com
4. "Ginde Oration" will be scheduled at Bombay Hospital, Mumbai from 20th April, 2013. Professor Volker Sonntag, Past President of American Association of Neurological Surgeons from Barrow Neurological Institute, Phoenix, Arizona will be delivered a guest lecture on his experience of CV junction surgery. This will be followed by Cadaveric Workshop. Registration is free but compulsory.
