Respect Responsibility Safety
This Thursday, we have our end of term BBQ, as well as our Colour Fun Run. For the Fun Run, students are encouraged to wear a white (or light coloured) t-shirt. We will be starting the run at approximately 1.15pm on the school oval. Students will come inside at 1.00pm to pack up their bags before heading down to the oval. Students will run, walk, skip laps of the oval for around 50 minutes before heading back to their classrooms to be dismissed at 2.30pm. Parent are more than welcome to come along and enjoy the event. We will need some parent helpers to assist with the colour. Please see Kim Tiley if you are willing to help.
Thank you to the parents, students and staff who were able to assist with the School Working Bee last Friday. Even with small numbers, we were able to complete a mammoth amount of jobs around the school, including the installation of the slide mats, washing all external windows, fixing garden beds and spreading soft fall in the playground. Thanks again to those who were able to help out. I, and the staff and students, greatly appreciate your support.
Today I had a visit from a dental company Smiles On Site who will be setting up an onsite van and offering free dental check ups for our students in Term 3. During Term 2, they will be coming in to do some mini lessons with the students on how and why we brush our teeth and then all students, with parent permission, will have access to the free service. More information about this will be coming home next term.
This Thursday, is Mrs Heather Nye’s last day teaching in a classroom. Although Heather will be returning in Term 3 to assist with transition, Thursday will be her final day before commencing long service leave. We wish Heather all the best on her long service leave and will wait to hear about her adventures when she returns for the first week on Term 3. Ms Brenda Wereszcuk (Ms W) will be starting in PrepN on the first Monday back.
Over the school holidays, Miss Gray and her fiancé Aaron will be getting married up on the Murray River. We would like to congratulate both Alana and Aaron on their marriage and wish them all the best for their future together. Miss Gray, the future Mrs Johnson, will return on Tuesday after the holidays.
Finally, thanks to Mrs Patterson for the wonderful job she has done in 1/2B over the past 4 week, whilst Ms Bunworth has been on leave.
Congratulations April

1/ 2 B
What a wonderful experience I have had over the last four weeks!
As a Casual Relief Teacher you don’t get the opportunity to bond with a class because you are in and out of so many classes…but this month I have thoroughly enjoyed being a part of 1/2B.
1/2B are an amazing group of children who work and play so well together. They are a credit to Ms Bunworth.
We have worked hard to improve our reading. Our writing skills are developing with children producing detailed and interesting stories. In Maths class, we have been looking at days of the week and months of the year. In fluid grouping, we are working on improving our addition skills.
In Science, we have been looking at Seasons and how the weather changes.
We have also been looking at the Commonwealth Countries of India, Fiji and Kenya in preparation for the up coming Commonwealth Games.
The children are showing a lot of respect towards one another and especially concentrating on using their manners amongst their peers.
I hope everybody has a wonderful and relaxing holiday and returns full of energy at the start of Term 2.
Andrea Patterson.
5/6 C – the legend grows
Gather around and I’ll tell you a tale. A tale lined with mystery, action and adventure. A ye olde tale as it were. Since the tribes were last gathered, many events have unfolded. We have learnt from the elders of the past (Mr Rowe) whose lessons will be told from castle to castle (your house), ancient lakes (Goldsmith), extinct mining operations (Waterloo) and the posts that reach high into the sky (goal posts at the footy oval).
There has been many a battle, fought bravely in the conference arena, where the knights of education engage in academic challenge for the overwhelming desire for self-improvement and high growth. The young squires and maidens have engaged in the ancient teachings of Mindcraft, not to be confused with witchcraft, that allows them to break the shackles of negativity and open their minds to positive mental health.
The squires and maidens have endured brutal physical challenges that have pushed them to their limits in order to achieve greatness in the squat, star jump, sit up and push up training regime. With their new found physical strength they have proven noble in the ability to fight dragons, slay demons and hand in the homework scrolls on time.
We have written scrolls of persuasion in preparation for the NAPLAN assessment, which is soon upon us in the following term. Our hearts beat strongly for our high growth across the Place Value and Addition tests, which our elders at home should have been informed about our scores.
We have written scrolls about TED, which will be shared with you all early in the following term. We have had teachings from the samurai princess about the foreign land of Japan. The art of the sacred parchments have been decorated under the watchful eye of the master painter. The correct technique of the games of the Olympiad have been passed down from the gladiator of legend herself.
It has been a pleasure to tell the tale of 5/6 C and I encourage you to revel in merriment at a time of egg laying rabbits and engage in some well earned rest. Until we speak again….
