Liquid ceramic insulating material ISOLLAT is a nano technology insulating material developed in 2002
by SPECIAL TECHNOLOGIES LLC in Russian Federation with the help and promotion of Russia Science
Academy High Temperature Electrochemistry Institution and a couple of institution which belong to
Military industry complex.
Insulating coating, ISOLLAT, is used for insulating purposes in Industrial facilities, metal pipe lines and
connections, facilities producing heat, interior and exterior walls of buildings, tanks, vehicles, boats and
many other areas. It is new generation insulating material developed to reduce HEAT, SOUND,
CORROSION and FIRE protection in one-time application.
There is no other insulating material in the world in the sector of insulating materials with ceramic
liquid cells which has high insulating value as ISOLLAT and wide working temperature range from -60 oC/+700 oC (PEAK 800 oC). This is the only material in the world with this range of application.
ISOLLAT insulation products have been applied in many construction and industrial projects. Main
application fields are related to Construction and Reconstruction; Oil and Gas, Petrochemical Industry;
Energy industry, housing and communal services; Insulation in the agricultural and food industry;
Automobile transport.

ISOLLAT 01 — A material with thixotropic agents. Applications: Protection
and thermal insulation of building structures; external and
internal thermal insulation of walls/facades. Flammability
Group: NF (Not Flammable)
ISOLLAT 05 — A special fireproof coating for steel structures; Corresponds to
Fireproofing Efficiency Group 5 (45 minutes) as per Fire Safety
Regulations NPB 236-97; High tensile performance, impact
resistance, seismic resistance; Able to withstand long-term
vibration stress. Isollat-05 has no equivalents among fireproof
materials produced by Russian or foreign manufacturers.
ISOLLAT 02: MULTI-PURPOSE — A heat insulation material with a minimum coefficient of heat
transfer (because of high filling of the micro-spheres) and a wide
range of application temperatures. It is used to insulate
pipelines, industrial equipment, boilers, and capacity equipment
utilizing heat transfer medium with temperatures of up to
+150ºС (up to +170ºС in the peak mode). Flammability Group:
NF (Not Flammable)
ISOLLAT-NANO — An innovative material with photo catalysis effect for thermal
insulation of facades. Under the action of UV radiation and
moisture, the material disengages hydrogen peroxide, which
“cleans” facade systems from organic compounds. Used for
maintenance of ancient buildings and structures.
ISOLLAT 03 — A special insulation material with fire-retardant additives for
facilities with more severe requirements to fire safety, utilizing
heat transfer medium with temperature of up to +150ºС (up to
+170ºС in the peak mode).
ISOLLAT-M — A multi-purpose thermal insulation material with freeze-
resistant components. Can be transported, stored and used at low
ambient temperatures (down to minus 15ºС).
ISOLLAT 04 — An organo-silicon based material. The only patented material
in the world, which can be used to insulate pipelines and
industrial equipment utilizing heat transfer medium with
temperature of up to +700ºС. Flammability Group: NF (Not
Flammable)
ISOLLAT-EFFECTIVE — A combined thermal insulation material (in various
combinations, Isollat-02 and Isollat-04 are used), which is widely
applied as a coating for pipelines and industrial equipment with
high surface temperatures. Application of ISOLLAT-Effective allows
retaining the high thermal insulation performance while reducing
the cost of 1m² of insulation material by 30-40%. All ISOLLAT
materials contain special nanostructure additives, which provide
for high quality, seismic resistance, anti-corrosive protection, and
good adhesion to any surface.
Liquid ceramic insulation coating ISOLLAT is prepared in packages of 5, 10 and 19 liters in integrated facilities of Russian Federation by SPECIAL TECHNOLOGIES LLC.

Isollat Effective Method
In thermal insulation the ultimate goal is to prevent heat losses from surfaces to environment which is obtained by decreasing temperature difference between surface and ambient. For temperature ranges less than 80 ºС, applying ISOLLAT coating is adequate to maintain optimum insulation. However, for temperatures above 80 ºС Isollat Effective Method is applied by adding Fibres between ISOLLAT layers. By using Isollat Effective, the required insulation thickness is significantly reduced in comparison to other commonly used insulation methods. Using ISOLLAT effective method this aim can be reached easily for any temperature ranges up to 700 ºС.

ISOLLAT liquid insulation is an effective tool for heat insulation of facades. Elastic coating of small thickness (0.5 - 3 mm) protects the surface of the negative effects of external factors (including UV), prevents heat loss and the facade gives an aesthetic and attractive appearance.

Usually, ISOLLAT 01 is used as the insulation material for facades. The thickness of each coating layer is 1-2 mm, which eliminates the need for carrying out works in several stages. In buildings, ISOLLAT 01 is usually applied using Airless Machine Sprayer.

ISOLLAT insulation material makes it possible not only to significantly reduce thermal energy costs for heating the cottages or houses, but also can be used successfully to reduce the "freezing“ in buildings. By reducing temperature difference, the formation of condensation is also eliminated.

Thermal insulation of metal structures
In modern construction, steel is used frequently, especially in the construction of prefabricated structures with a metal frame. These structures made of metal are so-called "cold bridges", low temperature conductors. Their presence causes the occurrence of condensation and freezing of the walls, leading to the destruction of the facade. Due to the liquid consistency of ISOLLAT, it easily covers metal structures of any shape, protecting them from the negative influence of external factors (changes in temperature, humidity, etc.). ISOLLAT 1 and 2 is usually used for this purpose.

Reconstruction of Old Buildings and Monuments
When carrying out renovation (restoration) facades of monuments and buildings with complex shapes that have great social significance, there is a need to preserve their unique architectural appearance. Conventional insulation materials are often unable to successfully solve this problem. Typically, these materials are thicker, heavier structure, and their assembly is of serious labour intensive and results in partial destruction of existing walls.

Application of the ISOLLAT coating during reconstruction (restoration) of monuments solve the problems of insulation in every aspects. ISOLLAT 01, nano or M is usually used in monuments. Many old buildings and monuments have been reconstructed in different cities of Russia and Turkey. Insulation of hangars and garages
Another application of ISOLLAT insulation material is in special buildings like warehouses, garages, production halls, shopping centres and hangars. Their main disadvantages is significant heat loss in winter and the high costs of ventilation and air conditioning in summer. The use of liquid insulation ISOLLAT can significantly reduce heat transfer from the steel profiled structures to protect them from the negative effects of ultraviolet radiation and to prevent the formation of condensation.

Thermal insulation of pipelines is a necessary application for the normal functioning of the pipeline systems. Different materials like mineral wool are used as thermal insulation. However, there are many "problem" areas. Mineral wool does not cover surfaces with any shape and should be also kept far from water and steam, due to its degradation and reducing thermal insulation performance. Another disadvantage of mineral wool is the need for a protective coating like galvanized metal. Generally, pipes insulated with mineral wool are maintained for 2-3 years. After this period it must be partially or completely replaced.

An effective material for thermal insulation of pipelines for different purposes is the liquid insulation ISOLLAT. Liquid insulation on pipes reliably isolate the most complex surfaces, providing 100% contiguity to the surface to prevent further occurrence of "thermal bridges". Another advantage of ISOLLAT is easy maintenance and repair in damaged areas. Also, it can be applied on pipes under ground and building thermal facilities. The coating does not require additional protection, ensuring full compliance with the requirements of SNIP 41-03-2003 "Thermal insulation of equipment and pipelines.

The shut-off valves (gate valves, ball valves, valve) are the "weakest link" in the insulation of piping systems for various purposes. Lack of insulation on the shut-off valve leading to a significant increase in heat loss, especially in systems with extremely high temperatures, such as in the case of steam pipes, superheated steam, also increases the risk of burns of staff.

Application of ISOLLAT coating significantly reduces heat loss due to thermal bridges, eliminating the risk of burns of the operating personnel and extend the life of the equipment to be insulated.
The coating provides a snug fit to the insulated surface, preventing the occurrence of sagging and peeling. Coating lifetime is more than 10 years without any loss in performance.
Often valves are insulated using mineral (basalt) cotton. This material strongly absorbs water vapor, which lead to creasing of mineral wool and significantly decrease the thermal resistance.

Thermal insulation of tanks
For industrial and energy facilities is important to decrease the level of heat loss during operation of storage tanks and deaerators that are filled with large amounts of hot water. Stable high temperature, provided technological regulations should be maintained within the tank with diesel fuel, fuel oil, acting as a backup fuel in industrial plants. A large number of tanks and containers used for the storage of technical and food-water (fire protection containers, rail and road tankers) and liquids used in the food and chemical industries (alcoholic beverages, milk, vinegar, etc.).

In year 2015, over 13.900 m2 Storage tanks of processed boron (Borax Pentahydrate) were insulated using ISOLLAT effective method. The products in the tanks should be kept in appropriate temperature range. Boron Processing plant is located in Kirka, Turkey.
The insulation is continuously exposed to overflow of liquid boron materials which is highly alkaline. However, no reduction in performance has been observed since the beginning of operation.

Insulation of Chimneys and Flues
Chimneys and flues are an integral part of industrial and energy facilities. Their operation occurs in difficult conditions in temperature, pressure, humidity and exposure to aggressive flue gases. The main problem encountered in the operation of chimneys and flues is condensation which can form on the inner surface and the concentration of reactive combustion products. Condensation appear due to internal temperature difference to the ambient temperature and ultimately leads to accelerated aging metal structures due to corrosion.

In contrast to other traditional insulation materials, ISOLLAT is capable of withstanding the high surface temperature (500 degrees or higher), resulting in the operation of chimneys and flues. In addition, thermal insulation work can be performed without stopping the production in a short time period. The liquid consistency of the coating can effectively protect sensitive parts of the structure. For surfaces with extremely high temperatures using high-grade coating Isollat-04, which has a silicon-organic-based and can be successfully used both in simple and in combined forms.

Thermal insulation of other industrial equipment
a large number of equipment exist in industry and energy sector having different working surfaces and temperatures:
- Heating equipment (turbines, boilers, heat exchangers, heaters, motors, industrial heat recovery);
- Technological equipment with high performance surface temperatures (melting and drying ovens, rotary drums, autoclaves, installations for the manufacture of tires, waste heat recovery, etc.);
- Technological equipment in contact with cold liquids and gases (pumps, filters, water tanks and liquefied gas, refrigeration and freezers). The rotary calcination furnace at Eti Maden boron production plants are insulated by ISOLLAT Effective method. The surface temperature of the furnace is up to 400 ºС.
The rotary calcination furnace, which is insulated with classical insulation materials (stone wool, glass wool and etc.) deteriorates in a short time due to the high temperature and extreme vibration and concentration of chemically active substances.
A new generation of isolate effective heat-efficiency application, which can withstand outdoor conditions for many years, is applied to the calcining furnace with a surface temperature of 400ºС in an open area.
In addition, insulation performance is short-term due to rain, wind and other conditions in outdoor environment. On the other hand, thermal bridges cause rust and corrosion problems on the applied surfaces due to the structure that absorbs and retains water.

With this application, at least 15 years high temperature, external environment conditions (water, sun, wind and etc.), resistant to vibration conditions and a constant performance guaranteed.

Thermal Insulation Solutions For Cement Plants
According to wide range of working temperature (-60ºС to +700ºС) of ISOLLAT material, this insulation can be easily applied on any surfaces and components with different temperatures in a cement plant. The table below shows the application area of ISOLLAT material in a cement plant:

As can be seen in the figure, by applying the Isolate-effective method in Çerkezköy, all geometric shapes are covered properly without missing any thermal bridges. As the final result, the surface temperature of the dyeing machine is reduced close to ambient temperature.
Further ISOLLAT and ISOLLAT Effective application areas in cement plants is under investigation.

Textile and Fabric Factory, Çerkezköy /TEKİRDAĞ
Due to the different geometric shapes of the fabric dyeing machines and the complex structures on the machine, there is no possibility to properly insulate the machines with classical products. For this reason, heat loss occurs at a high rate.
As can be seen in the figure, by applying the Isolate-effective method in Çerkezköy, all geometric shapes are covered properly without missing any thermal bridges. As the final result, the surface temperature of the dyeing machine is reduced close to ambient temperature.
On the other hand working temperature of
the equipment reaches to 150 ºC which not only leads to damage and burns of the staff but also increases electricity consumption for air conditioning purposes inside the factory.

Thermal Insulation of Container
Inside temperature of containers exposed to sunshine is often reached to more than 40ºС especially in warm areas. In order to reduce the electricity consumption for air conditioning, a proper thermal insulation can significantly reduce the costs. ISOLLAT insulation products possess high reflectivity and significantly low thermal conductivity and is easily applied on containers.

Thermal insulation of ventilation systems
Ventilation systems are used to supply and remove indoor air and are in contact with the outside environment. The aim of insulation in ventilation ducts is to reduce heat loss in different weather conditions. The insulation not only should reduce heat loss by covering the entire surface of any shapes but also eliminate condensation on the working surfaces and reduce unwanted noise as well.
An effective solution for thermal insulation of ventilation ducts and air ducts is liquid-ceramic coating ISOLLAT. The coating is easily applied by any staining on the surface, has high adhesion to various materials. In addition, the composition of the coating possesses special anti-corrosion additives inside which extend the life of metal structures significantly.

Thermal Insulation of HVAC Systems at TAI (Turkish Aerospace Industries Inc.) Building
Hot water and air conditioner cold water pipelines in TAI building are insulated with ISOLLAT to provide heat efficiency, condensation-free and corrosion protection. Pipelines can be easily colored to show hot and cold by adding pigments to ISOLLAT before application.

Food Industry
At the sites of agriculture and in the food industry, which are used for the storage, processing and food production, the need for proper insulation materials are increased. Heat insulation materials should have no environmental impacts and there should be no emission of harmful substances to human and animal.
Isollat coating does not contain in its composition hazardous to human health and livestock components. The high speed of its application to the insulated surface by simple staining can handle large areas efficiently without interrupting existing production and liquid consistency of the material prevents the formation of cold bridges - the main cause of the condensation.
Liquid ceramic insulation coating ISOLLAT in this respect acts as an alternative to traditional insulation materials. A distinctive feature of this coating is its environmental friendliness.

The old and unrefined classical insulation in the steam pipelines at 160ºС production line at Ankara feed factory have been disassembled and replaced with ISOLLAT-effective. Surface temperature after insulation has been reduced from 160ºC to approximately 35ºC.

The complex surface configuration of equipment in oil, gas and petrochemical units make the thermal insulation a big challenge in this industry. Traditional materials are often ineffective in this case. Their application does not provide tight junction to the insulated surface, characterized by labour-intensive. Also, in 2 - 2.5 years such insulation requires partial or complete replacement.
ISOLLAT coating performs successfully as insulation and corrosion-resistant material in pipelines pumping oil and fuels or in the tanks for storing oil (gasoline and kerosene) and isolation of individual components of gas-pumping and other processing equipment.
The most common example of the use of insulation material acts as protection against overheating sunlight tanks filled with lighter petroleum fractions (gasoline, kerosene, etc.). The boiling point of these petroleum products is about 40 °C. Tanks at MOZYR Oil Refinery Co. has been protected against heat loss and fire by applying ISOLLAT insulation material together with a fire protection coating.

ISOLLAT is also applied on the surface of thermal equipment of ships. There are several equipment in ships that are in operation at high temperatures and also exposed to salty water and humid air which are highly corrosive. On the other hand, the application of classical insulation is difficult due to complex geometry.
As an example of ISOLLAT application, thermal facilities at the deck of OSMANLI ship has been insulated using ISOLLAT material in Istanbul, Turkey. The facilities are operating at more than 100°C and exposed to waves and salty water. At this condition, classical insulation can not resist for a long time.
