Joanne Kerton will be our guest speaker and her topic is “Backgrounds, Borders, Bindings, and Backs.” She will show how altering these elements can totally change the character of a quilt.
Joanne is from Ames, Iowa. Formally from Canada, her email is [email protected]. She will also have patterns for
sale.
From the President: Wow! The summer is speeding by with no signs of slowing down. Last month we had a great turnout for our salad potluck and a total of 13 fidget quilts came in from the President’s Challenge. The Iowa State Fair is just around the corner and I’m betting that more than a few of you are burning the midnight oil to get your entries completed. I’m looking forward to seeing you all at our next meeting!
A special thank you to Noreen Carlson for the beautiful quilting job on our raffle quilt! Tamara Burkholder

Monthly Refreshments Rules
Refreshments this month will be provided by the members listed. The mem-ber whose name is first in the list each month is the coordinator for the refresh-ments that month. The re-freshments can be as sim-ple or as complicated as the volunteers decide. Please remember the re-sponsibilities of the refresh-ment committee each month: 1) Supply the goodies. 2) Supply the paper and
plastic utensils. 3) Clean up after. 4) Take garbage out.

It is important that each us remains committed to these responsibilities.

Quilt Labels
We would like all donation quilts to have a label stating "Made by Eastern Polk Quilters Guild 2019". We will have some labels made up and available to pick up at the guild meetings to be added to your donation quilts. If you wish to make your own labels that would be fine also. This is a label like the ones made last year. They are done in black, blue, and brown thread, so you can choose the color that suits your quilts the best. Take one, two, or all three colors! For each twin quilt donated, your name will be entered twice into the year-end drawing.
