EAST NEW MARKET TO CAMBRIDGETRANSMISSION LINE UPGRADE

Delmarva Power is committed to providing safe, reliable, and affordable service for our customers and communities. As part of this effort, we are planning a major modernization project to rebuild and upgrade existing transmission and distribution lines running between East New Market and Cambridge.

Due to the transmission line’s age, condition and past performance, we conducted a comprehensive review of potential options to enhance service for customers served by this equipment. We identified a full transmission line and equipment upgrade as the most cost-effective and least impactful option for the community. This project is part of a broader plan to further improve reliability for Maryland customers.

About the UpgradeThe project includes rebuilding more than 11 miles of existing transmission line with new state-of-the-art steel poles and modern equipment.

Replacing existing wood poles with new, longer lasting steel utility poles will strengthen the local energy grid and reduce the number of transmission poles along the route. These more reliable structures are designed to withstand severe weather conditions, such as 120 mph hurricane-force winds and blizzard conditions. These new poles have a much longer service life and require much less maintenance over time.

In addition to adding new poles, we will also upgrade the existing transmission line with new wire and other modern electric devices.

Together these important upgrades will prevent outages and enhance overall reliability for the residents of Dorchester County.

Committed to Working with YouWe are committed to working closely with our customers and communities to address questions and minimize potential impacts throughout the project. We value your

input and will continue to keep you informed throughout the entire project.

Minor controlled and scheduled outages will be necessary for some homeowners and businesses in the area, due to construction. While outages will be limited for short durations of time, we will work with each resident and business owner directly to notify them of these outages and work with them to reduce their impact.

We will perform all work within the times identified in the construction permits and keep noise levels from construction activities within established thresholds. We will also confine project activities to the utility right-of-way of our transmission line and restore all areas affected by construction.

Enhancing Reliability in MarylandThe East New Market to Cambridge Project is part of our broader strategic effort to strengthen and modernize the energy grid across our service area. This effort includes dozens of targeted projects in communities across the Eastern Shore of Maryland to harden our critical energy infrastructure and build a more resilient grid to prevent those outages that can be prevented. In fact, over the last five years, the frequency of electric outages in our Maryland service area has decreased 40 percent.
