Join or Renew Your EBCA Membership Now for 2015!The 2015 East Bay Claims Association Membership Drive is now in full swing! Annual membership do provide a significant fi-nancial support to the organization. And, a strong membership helps to keep a non-profit like EBCA viable and alive. Without all of us together there would be no EBCA. “We really appreciate all the support this organization has enjoyed the past several years,” stated EBCA President Joe Baughman. Overall membership and meeting attendance has been consistent and substantial. Still, the sense that there aren’t many adjust-ers at any given function remains pervasive. “As with all our sister groups, we con-tinue to encourage the carrier claims people and independent adjusters participate, and to become more in-volved,” Joe added. “East Bay Claims Association is always committed to maintaining a high degree of pro-fessional courtesy within our ranks.”

The organization has been actively taking measures to contin-ue to raise its standing within the community at large, as well.As an established charitable 501c(3) non-profit organization, EBCA has added the status of the Continuing Education Pro-vider credential to the reasons to be more involved. There seems to be a bit of a revival of carriers supporting their claims people joining and supporting their local associations.

The EBCA Board has opted to continue to offer annual FREE Memberships to insurance claims adjusters. Com-pletion and submission of a simple membership application now allows all such claims people the benefits of membership. Sign up or renew now at www.EastBayAdjusters.org.

22nd Annual Claims Conference Planning Underway

“Hot August Claims” is shaping up to be one of the best CCNC events yet. The planning committee, comprised of representatives of local and regional insurance claims associations, is working diligently to uphold the organization’s long-standing tradition and reputation for a top-notch continuing education conference and trade-show.

“Hot August Claims” is a theme befitting not only the Sum-mer timing of the event, but in a big way plans for a sizzling conference and trade show. With the early dates this year, the committee is positioning itself to get off on the right foot. Exhibit booth registration and sponsorship options are both already open and filling up fast, and early-bird registration pricing has been put in place. “We are excited about topics and speakers currently being lined-up for this year,” stated an enthusiastic President Corry. “CCNC is an event people look forward to, and we are com-mitted to making it the best we can,” he added. Amongst the programs is the day-long Earthquake Claims Certification, that will once again be presented by Dan Dyce.Details and updates will be announced in the coming weeks. It’s not too early to register to attend, and even book your hotel stay at the Hyatt Regency Downtown Sacramento. Site updates will be forthcoming at www.ClaimsConference.org, or Like the CCNC Facebook page: www.facebook.com/TheCCNC.

Ever-learning, ever-growing, the Claims Conference of Northern Calfiornia, Inc. - a California non-profit corporation - continues with progress on the planning for the 22nd annual event. To be held Tuesday and Wednesday, August 11-12, 2015,

August 11-12, 2015

a basic understanding of what to expect during the adjustment of a Business Income claim primarily in the retail setting. Specifically, we will discuss: • the objective of Business Income insurance. • The most prevalent policy language for Business Income & Extra Expense coverage • Supporting documentation that should be obtained. • Challenges that can arise in establishing the loss amount including determining the appropriate “period of restoration” • Variations posed by the different ownership structures from “mom and pop” operations to international name brand franchises.Mr. McCurley received a BS in Accounting from Rutgers University in New Jersey in 1985. After working at more traditional accounting jobs in the Philadelphia area following graduation, he relocated to California and began his forensic accounting career in San Francisco in 1987.In the early 1990’s, he moved to Sacramento to continue his career in the industry and raise a family. He has been running the Sacramento office of RGL since 1997 and has provided the local insurance community with a wide range of accounting support in property, liability and insurance defense.Mr. McCurley was a key member of RGL’s Catastrophe Response Team during the 2005 hurricane season that included hurricanes Katrina, Rita and Wilma. He currently holds the office of Treasurer of the Sacramento Claims As-sociation, and has been active in the claims community since his arrival in Sacramento.Outside the office, Mr. McCurley has adjusted to life as an “empty nester” after raising three sons in Fair Oaks. He and his wife, Hillary, will continue to explore California and hope to expand their newly found spare time traveling. With emphasis on “Discovering and Defining Financial Value”, RGL’s forensic accounting, valuation, and technology experts work with insurance, legal, corporate and public sector professionals to evaluate economic damages and determine financial value. “Our professionals have decades of experience delivering forensic financial services with accuracy, efficiency and integrity,” McCurley states.
