european assoCiation for the study of diabetesThe European Association for the Study of Diabetes (EASD) was founded in Montecatini, Italy in 1965 as one of the first pan-European academic associations. According to its bylaws the mission of the Association is to encourage and support research in the field of diabetes, to rapidly diffuse acquired knowledge and to facilitate its application.

The Association is based on individual membership and embraces scientists, physicians, laboratory workers, nurses and students from all over the world, who are interested in diabetes research. Active members receive the official monthly journal of the Association, Diabetologia, which publishes articles on clinical and experimental diabetes and metabolism.

The Annual Meeting of the Association is held in a different European city each year. Abstracts are invited from members as well as non-members; all abstracts are anonymously reviewed by an abstract selection committee, chaired by the Honorary Secretary. The EASD was one of the first international associations to introduce the anonymous review of abstracts. The high quality of scientific research presented at the Annual Meetings is attested to by the increasing number of participants.

All relevant companies involved in diabetes care and diabetes treatment are Supporting or Associate members of EASD. Together with the EASD Executive Committee they discuss all matters concerning the Association’s life and the Annual Meeting in a yearly forum. The Annual Meeting of EASD has become the world’s leading international forum for diabetes research not only for individual scientists world-wide but also for the pharmaceutical industry.

Centrally locatedThe Messe Wien is located on the edge of the inner city of Vienna, in the heart of the green and pleasant ‘Prater’ area. Vienna International Airport is a mere 30 minutes away and the historical city center can be reached in 20 minutes.

Messe Wien – Functionality and AtmosphereThe Messe Wien has consolidated the Austrian capital’s strong position as an international meeting place. The new exhibition center, inaugurated at the start of 2004, offers sophisticated and versatile facilities. The halls, furnishings and equipment, and architecture assure maximum functionality and an ideal atmosphere.The Messe Wien consists of five separate buildings with different functions. All are close to each other and linked by covered walkways. The center has 46,000 sqm of gross exhibition space in three exhibition halls (Halls A, B and C), as well as Hall D — a 9,000 sqm multi-purpose facility.A 450-metre mall connects the four halls, the Congress Center and the two foyers which can both be used separately. The majority of the five function areas can be divided up and combined according to need. Floor spaces between 500 and 60,000 sqm accommodate events, whatever the size and type.The complex is hooked up perfectly to the public transport network.

StorageExternal storage area will be available. Benefit from a comfortable service: Your storage goods will be picked up at the exhibition hall and stored nearby. In case you need some of your goods the ex-press agent will deliver them to your stand. Expenses on request, depending on volume. Further details and contact details will be included in the Exhibition Manual.

Basic Technical DataAccording to the regulations of the organisers, the following restrictions for stand building apply: The height of the outer walls including corner pillars should not exceed 3 metres and an eventually planned superstructure in the centre of your booth should not exceed 5 metres.

Ethical CodeThe distribution of promotional material as well as other activities to get in contact with the partici-pants outside of the exhibition booth is not allowed. Audio and Visual presentations and other sound effects on exhibition stands should not interfere with the activities of neighbouring exhibitors. For example, speakers or video terminals should be placed as to avoid causing disturbance in the aisles. Animations on exhibition stands are allowed but must be bound to the space attributed to each com-pany and must remain within the bounds of good taste and ethical practice.

More detailed information will be provided in the exhibition Manual to be dispatched in

spring 2014.for your convenience, this manual will also contain order forms for all issues

you might need for a perfect organisation of your show.

The exhibition conditions of INTERPLAN and Reed Messe Wien, which correspond to the standard terms and conditions of German and Austrian exhibition companies, apply.

Payment Terms ExhibitionThe following terms of payment apply:

• First non-refundable installment of one third of the sum is due within 30 days after receipt of the contract / invoice.• A second non-refundable installment of one third will be due by 14 February 2014.• The final payment must be received by 2 June 2014, prior to the Meeting.

All payments must be made in EUR plus statutory sales tax according to European regulations and without any bank or other charges.

Cancellation Terms ExhibitionAll cancellations of the total or partial exhibition space must be made in writing. The organisers shall retain the following sum:

Please send your signed booking form to INTERPLAN’s Industry Liaison Department or contact them via e-mail ([email protected]). Please indicate the requested exhibition space, the minimum exhibition space is 9 sqm. INTERPLAN will provide you with the current and updated version of the exhibition plan.

Exhibition Floor PlanAn updated version of the floor plan will be available in due time on INTERPLAN’s industry website www.easd-industry.com.

Industry Codes / ComplianceSponsors and Exhibitors are advised to obtain the Code of Conducts for pharmaceutical and medtech companies. In addition the companies have to ensure their own compliance with the relevant country codes and regulations about advertising and any other applicable rules and regulations.

Payment Terms Sponsorings / SymposiaThe invoice for 100% of the amount will be sent out in January 2014. The following terms of payment apply:

• 50% of the total amount will be due within 30 days after receipt of the invoice.• 50% of the final balance will be due by 2 June 2014, prior to the Meeting.All payments must be made in EUR plus statutory sales tax according to European regulations and without any bank or other charges.
