Laser manufacturing technology in the car body of the future – Integrating materials, processes, monitoring and controlLaser manufacturing technology must keep pace with rising demands in auto-motive production. If it is to be competitive, then minimal rework, versatility, high processing speeds and energy efficiency are essential. What’s more, to meet the growing use of lightweight materials, such as high-strength steels and fibre composites, new laser sources and innovative laser manufacturing processes will be needed. Computer simulation can help processes to be de-signed which are more efficient in respect of uptimes and economics, while monitoring and control systems can safeguard process reliability, and so lower costs and boost quality.
EALA 2013, the international forum for sharing information and experience gained with the use of lasers in automotive production, will be examining the integrated approach to the use of lasers in automotive manufacturing – and the challenges which this poses for the future. It will demonstrate how ma-terials, processes, monitoring and control go hand in hand. Once again, the world’s leading network of automotive engineers will convene in Bad Nauheim to define and discuss the state of the art and the future of lasers in automotive construction.
EALA is aimed at:\\ Development, process planning and production managers
\\ Research & Development managers
\\ Engineers and project managers in positions of responsibility at automak-ers and subcontractors engaged in the laser-technology process chain

TutorialAdditional to the EALA conference, the EALA tutorial “Fundamentals of laser use in automotive engineering” provides newcomers with the theoretical and practical fundamentals of laser use in automotive engineering.
The tutorial is aimed at:\\ Persons overseeing development, process planning and production
who require a basic overview of “laser usage in the automotive industry”
\\ Recently qualified engineers with little practical experience
\\ Technical personnel at OEM and suppliers engaged in the laser tech-nology process chain, who need more information on laser application areas and new developments in this field
Please note that the tutorial and the main conference are two separate events. Pre-registration for the tutorial is essential as seats are limited.
(This tutorial will also be held in German.)
