What’s special this year is that I travelled with my team mates from Smart Athletics Club (SAC), and for convenience we signed up with Holiday Tours & Travel #GCM19 Tour Package. This was a good decision as they organised everything and I can focus on running my PB (yes, I got a sub-three PB this year!).

Thanks to Coach Edan, Jolene and Holiday Tours & Travel arrangement, the SAC team visited Warner Bros Movie World to celebrate our race and holiday. We will be back!

This race turned out to be a milestone in my running portfolio as I broke the 15-year-old national record by 30 seconds and improved my personal best by five minutes. The good air-con weather, flat course and crowd support definitely helped in my performance.

Favourite part of GCM? Hanging out with fellow Malaysian runners like Muhaizar and Chooi Fern after the race! It is not common after a race that runners get a chance to hang out as friends and visit theme parks or go whale watching. I will be back again Gold Coast Marathon!
