Health Minister Mo- hammad Nasim handed over the award to DAM Executive Direc- tor Dr M Ehsanur Rahman on 31 st May 2015 on the occasion of World Tobacco Free Day. World Tobacco Free Day was ob- served by Health Ministry. To mark the occasion, the ministry arranged rally, discussion meet- ing, stall exhibition. Health Min- ister Mohammad Nasim was the chief guest in the discussion meet- ing. Moreover Secretary General of Bangladesh Medical Associa- tion Professor Dr M Iqbal Arslan, National Professsional Officer (NDC) of World Health Organiza- tion (WHO) Dr M Mustafa Zaman and Director General of Health Department Professor Deen Mo- hammad. Health Secretary Syed Monjurul Islam presided over the discussion meeting. Additional Secretary of the Ministry Roksana Kader delivered the welcome ad- dress. While delivering as chief guest, Health Minister said, awareness on tobacco should be introduced from family. He also said, we have to work for creating awarness on drug alongside smok- ing. He also inaugurated the health warning message with photo over tobacco wrappers.

Health and Faimily Welfare Min-istry has awarded Dhaka AhsaniaMission (DAM) for its outstand-ing contribution in tobacco controlactivities. Health Minister Mo-hammad Nasim handed over theaward to DAM Executive Direc-tor Dr M Ehsanur Rahman on 31stMay 2015 on the occasion ofWorld Tobacco Free Day. Free HealthCamp held inMonohardi

Dhaka Ahsania Mission (DAM) organizeda day long free Health Camp on Skin andENT with the financial assistance of PKSFat Narandi Shorafot Ali Primary Schoolpremises of Monohardi Upazila underNarshingdi District on 15 June, Monday.A specialist team of doctors on Skin andENT examined 312 patients. Chairman ofSukundi Union, Abdul Gani Farazi inau-gurated the camp. Head of Microfinanceof Dhaka Ahsania Mission Md. Asaduzza-man, Coordinator Md. Rezaul Karim andMd. Habibur Rahman, Head Master,Narandi Shorafat Ali Govt. PrimarySchool spoke on the occasion.

Trade House donated Tk. 10 lacs to con-struct International Standard 500-bed Ah-sania Mission Cancer & General Hospital(AMCGH) at capital Uttara. Chief Exec-utive of Trade House Mahfooz Hassanhanded over the cheque to Dhaka AhsaniaMission (DAM) President Kazi RafiqulAlam at Dhanmondi Mission bhaban ofthe capital city on 24 June 2015. Public Relations Division (PRD) DirectorKazi Ali Reza, Deputy Director ofAMCGH Dr. S.M. Shaminul Moula werepresent at the time. This donation wouldbe expended for the treatment of the poorcancer patients. While handing over the

cheque the Chief Executive of TradeHouse said, the cancer treatment opportu-nity in Bangladesh is too limited. Most ofthe cancer patients have to go abroad fortreatment. If the AMCGH is launched completely In-ternational Standard treatment would beavailable in Bangladesh. He urged every-body to come-forward for the constructionof this hospital. DAM President KaziRafiqul Alam said, if the corporate sectorcome-forward, it will be possible tolaunched the hospital widely. He alsourged the well-off people to participate insuch a dedicated work.

Garbage alsocauses disasterAbout 70 lacs people reside at DhakaSouth City Corporation (DSCC) area and1800 to 2000 ton garbage are being re-moved every day from the 57 words of 5zones under DSCC. If thisgarbage would not removed,Dhaka City would have toface a human created disaster.A large portion of those totalgarbage of this area is also re-main unremoved. Drains,sewerage are being field withthose wastage. This is why,water stagnancy following alittle rain is now a commonphenomena which is also adisaster for the dwellers orcommuters.Captain Rakibuddin PSC,

and Executive Director D. M. EhsanurRahman was present as special guest.While delivering the welcome speechPRD Director Kazi Ali Reza upheld theaims and purpose of the workshop. Executive Director said that Dhaka Ahsa-nia Mission already prepared a strategyplan for 2015-2025 where visibility of the

Mission has been emphasised. Throughthis workshop the participants will be ableto enhance the visibility and branding indifferent media being an ambassador ofthe institution. He also added that all typesof services of the mission will reach to themass people through the participants of theworkshop. You are the representatives ofdifferent institutions and projects. on 7 June 2015 on the occasion of cele-brating ‘International Cancer SurvivorsDay 2015’. National Professor Doctor

M.R Khan was present as chief guestwhile Chairman of DBL Group AbdulWahed was present as special guest.Dhaka Ahsania Mission (DAM) PresidentKazi Rafiqul Alam presided over themeeting and Cancer specialist Prof. Doc-tor Mahabub Alam spoke on cancer dis-ease. Program Director of AMCGH Brig.General Doctor Syed Fazle Rahim (Rtd.)delivered the welcome address. Some can-cer survivors expressed their feelings inthe program. Speakers informed that, more than 2 lacscancer patients are now surviving inBangladesh and other 2 lacs cancer pa-tients are being added with this number.Quoting a figure of International Agencyfor Cancer Research, the speaker said, in2005 the total death in cancer was 7.5 percent and if this situation continues the fig-ure may reach up to 22 per cent. Speakers also added that ‘InternationalCancer Survivors Day 2015’ is being ob-served with a view to enhancing aware-ness about cancer at national level. Nowthere are 120 cancer specialists in ourcountry which is very meager in compari-son with necessity.

Dhaka Ahsania Mission (DAM) has beenawarded best prize for its outstanding con-tribution in drug treatment and rehabilitationactivities. The award was handed over bythe State Minister for Home Affairs Asaduz-zaman Khan Kamal MP to Deputy Directorof DAM and Head of AMIC Iqbal Masud ata ceremony held at Osmani Memorial Audi-torium on 26 June in connection with the ob-servance of International Day against DrugAbuse and Ilicit Trafficking. The programwas attended by Chairman of ParliamentaryStanding committee on Home Ministry

Tipu Munshi, MP, Senior Secretary of theMinistry Dr. Md. Mozammel Haque Khanand Director General of Narcotics ControlDepartment Bazlur Rahman.Dhaka Ahsania Mission has been imple-menting its anti drug activities since 1990and providing evidence based drug treat-ment service to drug users since 2004. TheMission is currently operating three drugtreatment and rehabilitation centers inGazipur and Jessore for male drug users andone in Dhaka for female drug users.

DAM receives best awardCattle vaccina-tion program forthe cattle heldMitali Community Resource Centreof DAM Foundation of EconomicDevelopment (DFED) organised acattle vaccination program at AlipurUnion under Raipur upazila of Nars-ingdi district on 8 June 2015. UpazilaLivestock department gave neces-sary the technical assistance. Onehundred fifteen milch cows, heifer,bull calf and 115 goats were vacci-nated. Agriculturist and the seniorprincipal officer of DFED NiamulKabir inaugurated the program. It ismentionable that DFED declared themonths of May and June as themonth of services through its variousCommunity Resource Centres(CRC) and as part of celebrating ofthis the community. Area Manager ofNarsingdi-2 Dulal Chandra Debnath,Branch Manager Manik Mia, AKMShafiqul Karim were present at thattime. Vetenary field assistant ofRaipur Upazila Livestock OfficerMd Joynal Abedin, Md Rafiqullah,Md Abdur Rahim were also presentat the program.

Ameeting was held in this regard at Dhaka AhsaniaMission Head Office Dhanmondi, recently. Artist and Architect Rafiq Azam ,worksfrom natures’ inspiration with fusion oftradition. He was the key speaker in theseminar titled “Architecture for GreenLiving” held on 11th of June, 2015 at Prof.M.H. Khan Auditorium, Ahsanullah Uni-versity of Science and Technology.The Architect shared his concepts,philosophies and design process with theaudience who were mostly students fromdifferent architecture schools of Dhaka.As Chief Guest and Special Guest Prof.

M.H. Khan, Founder Vice ChancellorAUST and Prof. Dr. A.M.M. Shafiullah,Vice Chancellor, AUST were present. TheSeminar was Chaired by Prof. Dr M.AMuktadir, Head Department of Architec-ture, AUST.The seminar became more vibrant whenthe architect started to describe his inspi-rations through Lalon’s Stories, Rumi’spoetries and Jagadish Chandra Bashu’sdiscovery. He represented his feelingsthrough the presentation of his architec-

tural works,sketches and water-colorpaintings. Ar. Rafiq Azam also answereddifferent questions of the listeners regard-ing the duties, liabilities,responsibilities,limitations and affordabil-ity of the architects .The program was concluded by handingover a set of books written by Professorsfrom Architecture Department, AUST tothe Speaker Ar.
