About the AwardsThe All Ireland Occupational Safety Awards were establishednationally in 1992 with 20 entries and have grown tobecome Ireland’s premier safety awards. The awards trulybecame an All Ireland affair when the Northern IrelandSafety Group (NISG) joined forces with the National IrishSafety Organisation (NISO) in 1995. To date, over twoand a half thousand entries have been received.

The awards offer you the chance to showcase thehealth and safety performance of your business.

Awards categories

Occupational Health, Driving for Work and Healthy Workplace AwardsThese awards will be made in addition to whatever other award the successfulorganisation has achieved.

Occupational Health Award sponsored by the Health andSafety Authority [HSA] and Health and Safety Executive forNorthern Ireland [HSENI]. This award is designed for theorganisation that demonstrates clear evidence that theymanage a clear and proactively structured occupational healthand occupational hygiene programme for their employees. Thisprogramme should be based on the hazard identication andrisk assessments applicable within the organisation and mayinclude such items as: pre-employment medicals, periodicmedicals, hearing, vibration, skin care, respiratory issues, generalhealth issues, EAP, shift work, diet, hygiene matters, etc.

Driving for Work Award These awards require entrantstodemonstrate evidence of the following in relation to drivingfor work: policy, planning, practice, measuring performanceand reviewing performance. The entrant who scores highest in

Section 12 relating to Driving for Work will win the “Drivingfor Work Award 2021”.

Healthy Workplace Award sponsored by Healthy Ireland.The Healthy Workplace Award will recognise thecommitment of workplaces who promote health andwellbeing as a core element of the Health and Safetyagenda. Promoting Health and Wellbeing in the workplacerequires organisations to consult with employees to identifypriorities in relation to their health and wellbeing and planappropriate interventions. Effective programmes areunderpinned by strong leadership which facilitates a culturethat values and promotes the health of all employees.Workplaces will need to present evidence of communicationplans, employee engagement and levels of participation inorganised activities.
