The Auto Belay is a controlled descent device and can be used for
recreational climbing in gyms and on fixed or portable climbing
walls. Using this device eliminates the requirement for a belayer
by providing hands-free belay for a climber. However, on letting go
of the wall the auto belay will not suspend the climber in mid-air,
it will descend the climber to the ground at a controlled rate. The
line when released will then automatically retract permitting
multiple descents.

INSTALLATION OF DEVICE
EN 362: 2004 – Types of connectors for personal protection. EN
12275: 2013 – Types of connectors for mountaineering. All
connectors, hooks, D-rings and shackles used to mount the Auto
Belay must meet minimum breaking loads of 20kN and be of compatible
size, shape and strength for the mounting point to which they are
attached.
CONNECTORS
LOCATION All anchor points have a minimum load capacity of 20kN as
stated in EN 795: 2012 and conform to all requirements for such a
device. The Auto Belay can hang freely (not against the wall) in a
vertical position with the carabiner pointing downwards and the
brake module pointing away from the wall. That when the Auto Belay
is in use all possible paths that can be used by a climber are free
from rough, sharp edges and/or high friction surfaces that may
damage the line. That the descent path and landing area are clear
of objects and free from other climbers or obstacles that could
cause entanglement or obstruct the climber's ascent or descent. It
is recommended that in wet or aggressive environments the auto
descender is protected from the direct ingress of water and/or
foreign objects. Please speak with your distributor about offering
a possible solution for this.
NOTE: PROLONGED EXPOSURE TO THE ELEMENTS COULD INCREASE RISK OF
INTERNAL CORROSION AND DEGRADATION OF THE LINE, RESULTING IN
INCREASED OPERATION AND SERVICING COSTS. DO NOT STORE THE DEVICE
WITH WET LINE.
All secondary connectors and hardware used in the installation of
the Auto Belay must conform to the requirements of:

to the Auto Belay covers and the climbing wall surface. Two point
mounting is the preferred method of mounting the Auto Belay with a
third non-loaded mount offset as a back-up.
It is the duty of the owner/purchaser to ensure that all users of
the Auto Belay system have been trained in using the Auto Belay and
