But in Israel, theoccupier, Cherries have only onemeaning.. Blood..

Cherries in Israel or Duvdevan as called in Hebrew, is a unit

whose members are disguised and live among Palestinians, and share them everything; clothing,housing, and even languageitself, as they master it as if it istheir mother tongue.. engaged with them in demonstrations, and the whole purpose is to recognize thePalestinian activists and arrest them.

The unit of Duvdevan is a unit within the Mistaravim units,perhaps the most recent is that

revealed by the Israeli newspaper “Haaretz” on Tuesday 13/10/2009.

The Mistaravim units arespecialized in murdering and killing, using special methodsto carry out their crimes, themost important is getting disguised as Palestinians.

They operate outside the known law, and carry out executions without accountability, follow-upor trial, they assassinate Palestinian

Activists without trial, and alwaysthere is a pretext that they werenot able to arrest them.

These units are not new in thehistory of the conflict, the record of the Israeli methods, and methodsof murder and assassinationadopted by successive Zionistleaders, they even preceded the establishment of “Israel” itselfcontrary to what many peoplebelieve, as they linked theestablishment of these units to thefirst Intifada in 1987.

The first “Mistaravim” unit formed by the Israeli organization“Balmakh” carried the name of “The Arab circle”, specializedin spying and carrying outdestructive operations targetingPalestinians inside historicPalestine and neighboring countries.

The unit continued to work from 1943 to 1950.

This unit was formed in 1943 by Yeruham Cohen, head of theSyrian department of “Balmakh”organization, it was formed of theJews, descendants of EasternJewish communities.

The bombing of the Lebanese port of Tripoli was the most famous of its sabotage operations, in additionto its activity in planting theMistaravim individuals amongthe Palestinians who fled from thecity of Haifa; as Israeli historicsources claimed that manyelements of the unit fled with thePalestinians to Beirut disguisedas refugees escaping from thecrimes of Zionist organizations.

Those early Mistaravimindividuals established theirleadership in Beirut waiting tobe assigned specific tasks.They actually carried out extensivecollection of information inaddition to many sabotageoperations according to Israelihistoric sources.

Special Israeli units diversifiedlater and carried different names,and this is a quick overview of some of them:

1. The unit “Shaked” or unit no. “424” of the army, formed in 1955 in order to fight what was called then “Infiltrators”commandos across the Southern borders with Egypt, and was dismantled in 1979.

The unit “Duvdevan”belonging to the Israeli infantryforces, concentrated in the West Bank, and subjected to theauthority of the CentralCommand.Its mission is arresting andliquidation of Palestinianactivists.It was formed before theoutbreak of the first Intifada in1986 by order of thecommander of the centralregion at the time “Ehud Barak”, its first leader was “Uri Bar Lev”.In the beginning, it was formed of the elements of the marine commandos and paratroopers,

and worked only through the “Mistaravim” method.

3. The “Samsun” unit or the “Shimshon” unit which issimilar to Duvdevan unit in terms of composition and mode of action, with a different area of operation that has beenlimited to the Gaza Strip.It was dismantled with theestablishment of the PalestinianAuthority in 1994, at leastofficially.

4. “Hermish” unit is an electedinfantry unit, its area ofoperation included the west Bank and Gaza Strip, it was following the central and southern commands andspecialized in implementingfield operations insidePalestinian population centersin order to abort acts ofresistance, and liquidateresisters.It carried out a lot ofoperations through the“Mistaravim” method.

5. The “Mistaravim” unit,attached to borders police“Yamas” was formed at the beginnings of the ninetiesof the last century in orderto carry out assassinations and arrest inside the occupiedJerusalem and the Green Line areas, and then extended its work to areas of the West Bank.

6. Finally, the special unitattached to Israeli PrisonsAuthority “Masada” was formed in 2003, and themajority of its elements of the demobilized soldiers of the elite forces. It aimed at the suppression of the Palestinian prisoners and controlling them by force.

As for the methods of the“Mistaravim” in being plantedbetween Palestinians, they differ according to the required tasks and the nature of the scene.To facilitate their dirty tasks they sometimes:

1. Impersonate medical crews equipped with the usual medicaltools to facilitate their missionin the arrest of those who areconsidered wanted by theOccupation state.

2. Use Palestinian vehicles toachieve their goals.

3. Disguise as women.4. Impersonate vendors.5. Use cars to sell and collect

used tools.6. Impersonate foreign tourists.7. Impersonate school students.8. Disguise as vegetables sellers.

As for those recruited for thespecial Mistaravim units, they are soldiers with high competencequalifying them to join anyspecial unit or the elite in theIsraeli army according to the reportof the Israeli organization forhuman rights (B’Tselem) about the events of the Mistaravim units in the West Bank and Gaza Strip.To explain, Ehud Barak introducedsubstantial amendments to the rulesof recruiting the Mistaravim

individuals as special forces in the Israeli army, taking advantage of his experience when he was an officer in the special forces that participated in the assassinationof the leaders (Abu YousefAl-Najjar, Kamal Adwan andKamal Nasser) in Beirut in 1973; hedisguised then as an Arab woman tofacilitate his entry to the building where the leaders of the Palestine Liberation Organization existed.

Based on that, the first groups of the Mistaravim were selected when the (Duvdevan) units were formed officially in 1986 of theelements that are able to disguise as Arabs and can speak Arabic with high efficiency, and theirfeatures do not differ too much from that of the Palestinians; as they have dark complexion and look oriental, so as not to arouse doubts when they are on their way to carry out the tasks assigned to

them.

The members of these units have no need to master the Arabiclanguage, as the process carried out does not take more than a few minutes, and sometimes they do not need to talk, but the importanceof using some words may save them from getting in trouble that may reveal their identity.

According to the website “Walla” on 26/8/2013, members of the unit finished at the end of last week a long training that would qualify it to fight in the villages of southern Lebanon. It is noteworthy that thecompetence of the individuals of the Duvdevan unit is to carry out operations against Palestinianactivists and militants at the heart of cities and villages and refugee camps densely populated in the West Bank.

The Israeli army decided to exploit the quality of the unit to be trained for the first time to carry outoperations against “Hezbullah” guerillas.

The website mentioned according to officers in the “Duvdevan” unit that the unit members were trained throughout a month on fighting in an Arab village similar to villages in Southern Lebanon, including a wide combat area, an area offiring rockets, and tunnels.

The Israeli channel ten aired a video film documenting these exercises.

Among the criminal acts carried out by the Mistaravim individuals recently according to the Israeli journalists “Avi Zakharov” and “Amus Harel”, that the Mistaravimsoldiers from the “Duvdevan” unitexecuted two martyrs in Nablus, despite the orders of arresting them, because the martyrs moved

their hands and bodies whilesurrendering to the occupation forces that surrounded their homes at dawn in the city of Nablus.

This came in a journal reportpublished by Haaretz newspaper issued on Friday (5/7/2013) underthe title (an attempt of night arrestin Nablus turned to a murder).

The summary included: The ordersof the Israeli army leadership aimed to arrest and not to kill those persecuted because ofmurdering the Settler Rabbi Meir Hai.

However, Palestinian witnesses confirmed to Haaretz investigatorsthat the fighters of the Duvdevan unit, Mistaravim soldiers shot two of the persecuted and executedthem from a short distance althoughthey were not armed. The Israeli Journalistic investigation shows that the Mistaravim soldierssuspected that the persecuted moved in a “suspicious” manner

As the Lord in Torah orders to assassinate his enemies as stated in the book ofJudges, third chapter, paragraphs 20-21

so they opened fire on them,because the Israeli Intelligence had told the Mistaravim soldiers to take heed because Palestinian militants may be in possession of weapons when attacked.The investigation also mentioned that this information has confused the Mistaravim individuals and made them suspect evry movementeven if it is normal.

But the big question remains: how can they fight the soldiers while being at home and among their children?

Israeli sources also reported that the Israeli occupation forces and its “Mistaravim” units arrested at dawn on Monday 27 May 2013 five young men from Jenin, theoccupied West Bank, by usingpolice dogs that mauled bodies of citizens.

Local sources reported that spe-cial Israeli “Mistaravim” units arrested the young man Shady Ali Al-Derby (32 years), supported by big forces of the Occupation army which blew the doors of the house of the detainee and smashed itscontents completely.The police dogs mauled the bodies

of his father (62 years), his sisterBaraa (34 years), the child Ramy Al-Derby (7 years), and hadseverely beaten the detainee’s mother and his brother Ahmed (27 years) in the old town of Jenin.

These forces also arrested Hasan Ahmed Ali Maarei (19 years), Soliman Hatem Lahlouh (20 years), and Waseem Hamed Awartani (18 years) after raidingtheir families’ homes in the EaternDistrict, Wadi Ezz Eddin, andHalima Saadia district, using policedogs and door bombing amidstsound and tear bombs.

No accurate figures are available about the victims of the “Mista-ravim” units, but according to the book “the Mistaravim.. Is-raeli death squads” by “Ghassan Do’ar”, 422 Palestinians are killed by members of these units between 1988 and 2004.
