Miss Gambrill Becomes Bride
Mi«s Diana Blair Gambrill, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Richard Van Nest Gambrill of Vernon Manor, Peapack, N. X, is being married today at the home of her parents to Antonio L, Villa, son of Count and Countess Alfonso p Villa of 18 East 72d street. The ceremony is being performed bv Mgr. William I. McKean of Bernardsville and will be followed bv a reception.
Escorted by her father, the bride is wearing a gown of cream colored faille silk, a long veil of heirloom Belgian lace which was also worn by her mother, and she is carrying white spray orchids. Her maid of honor and only attendant is her sister, Miss Ann Van N. Gambrill, who is wearing a replica of. the bride's gown in green faille silk and is carrying yellow spray orchids. " Paul G. I., former governor of the New York Stock Exchange and one-time commodore of the New York Yacht Club. She Is a granddaughter also of the late Mrs. Blair, who was Miss Florence Osborne Jennings, and of the late Mr. and Mrs. Richard Gambrill of New York.
Mr. Villa, who has been in Gov< •nment service since 1942, when he served in South America, was graduated f r o m t h e Groton
tool and from Harvard, where was a member of the A. D.
Club. He returned recently from Italy, where he served with the

Singapore, Sept. 29 (A. P.).— British Lieut-Gen. Sir Philip Christlson, newly appointed Allied commander for the Netherlands East Indies, said today the Dutch administration at his urgent insistence will meat with defiant Indonesian nationalist leaders. The Indonesians have stated they would resist any occupation landings, if Dutch troops were among the forces, Christison asserted.
[The New Delhi radio quoted J. J. Lawson, British Secretary of State for War, as saying at Singapore that Britain's obligations to her Allies.did not involve fighting for the Dutch against Javanese .nationalists, nor for the French against the people of Indo-China.1 •

(Delayed) (A. P.).—The first American party Into Sumatra found evidence today that the natives in this once rich food pro* ducing island are threatened with starvation.
We arrived by plane after circling'the city and the blackened and bomb-wrecked oil refineries. Japanese guards were much In evidence and were virtually the only troops In Sumatra with arms. The occupation forces have not arrived, although most Allied war prisoners have been evacuated.

The bride was graduated from the Convent of the Sacred Heart in Noroton, Conn.; attended ihe Manhattanville College of the Sacred Heart and has served as a nurse's aid at St. Vincent's Hospital. She is a sister of the late Capt. John Sheridan Reilly of the Army, who was killed in action in Belgium last October.
Malone attended the University School of Cleveland, Chil-lon College in Switzerland, and was graduated from Tale in 1939. Before entering the Navy he was in the office of the Coordinator of Inter-American Affairs, Washington. He has served with Fleet Air Wing 15 in Africa and with the United States Eighth Fleet in the Mediterranean, where he re-c e i v e d special commendation from Admiral H. K. Hewitt for his participation in the invasion of Italy and southern France. He is now assigned to Carrier Air Group 74.

P.).—Capt. Lee Frost, 37 years old, of Pittsburgh, one of ten Americans who were engaged by revolting A n n a m i t e s here Wednesday in a pitched gun battle, worked for fifty minutes before getting through a radio message to Kandy, Ceylon, for aid.
The Annamites had cut telephone wires leading from the house in which the Americans took refuge after Lieut.-Col. A* Peter Dewey of Washington, D. C, was killed, and the Americans had to send a message to Kandy to get help from the British only five miles away. The message traveled 3,400 miles to Kandy and back.
Bullets peppered the house and zipped in through the windows as Frost worked. Finally he raised the Kandy operator, who relayed the message for help to the British at their Saigon headquarters.
