Principal’s Report ~ Milly Stone
Year 5 Camp. It is almost camp time! I know the teachers and myself are very excited about camp next week. Please make sure you follow the camp notes about what you need to pack and that you have everything labelled. It is a great idea to have a packing list in your bag so that you know exactly what you have packed. Don’t forget to practise how to pack up your sleeping bag! Please be here no later than 8:45am on Monday.
National Young Leaders Day – Photo Page 2 National Young Leaders Day was perhaps the most inspirational day for the leaders of Dural Public School. We met the most inspiring speakers and they had the most interesting stories about leadership. John Couttis a man who had his legs amputated was our first speaker and probably the most inspirational person we have ever met. He spoke about his hardships when he was growing up but he never gave up on his goal. He wanted to be on stage. The most important lesson we learnt was that you never give up. His golden rule was: Treat people the way you wish to be treated. The other speakers throughout the day spoke about their type of leadership. This was an amazing day and we will never forget our National Young Leaders
Day. Isaac and Millie.
Absences When your child is absent from school you need to justify their absence within 7 days with an email/note. After 7 days this absence remains Unjustified permanently. The best practice is to use the school app on the day of their absence. When using the School App to record an absence for your child e.g. Johnny was away 7.3.18 so his first day of absence is 7.3.18 and last day is 7.3.18 – this equates to 1 whole day absent. For multiple days you put the first day they are absent and the last day they are away (not the date they returned to school). Please note – late arrivals and early departures are also recorded as partial absences. If your child is ill or absent for more than 3 days, you will need to provide a doctor’s certificate. If you are travelling overseas, please provide the itinerary for your trip with the absence note.

Fitted for Work
A big thankyou to the families who have sent in
items to support this charity. For those who may
have missed last week’s Newsletter, this is a
group for women experiencing difficulties who are
looking to work. The charity provides ‘an entire
outfit that is professional, suitable for interview
and carefully co-ordinated to make clients look
and feel good about themselves.’ If you have any
suitable clothes we have a rack in the staffroom
for the clothes as well as a box for other items
such as handbags, shoes, sealed makeup and
pantyhose, and jewellery.
This is their web address: www.fittedforwork.org
I will deliver to the group next Wednesday, so you
still have plenty of time to send in items.
With thanks,
Mrs Wastell

Holiday Fun Wow – it’s hard to believe that the end of term one is only a few weeks away so we already have our vacation care programme out and ready to view. You should have already received the programme via email but if you haven’t, we have some printed copies at the OOSH building. Some highlights of our programme are apple picking at Bilpin followed by a picnic and a bit of plane spotting. Children can pick fresh apples from the tree and bring them home for the family.
We will be having a magic show, animal balloon making, golf (for the older children) and putt-putt golf and so much more.
Another awesome activity will be bubble ball soccer.
Make sure you reserve your space as some activities have limited numbers and parents are already booking in.
