Dance Sport Dance Sport is approaching and Year 5 students have been working with Ms Sherrie on the appropriate dance routines for the main event. Students should have received their notes this week regarding the concert and aspects of the night. Dance Sport is in Week 8 on Tuesday 11th of September, at the Quay Centre in Homebush. Doors will open at 6pm.

Parents who have students participating in the event make sure you save the date and put it in your diaries, as it is going to be an event to remember. Ticketing information will be communi-cated to parents as soon as it is released to staff. If your child is involved in Dance Sport please be sure to attend the parent information meeting at 3:30pm on Thursday 6th of September (week prior to the event) to inform parents of all the information regarding the night.

Please ensure you bring back signed permission slips, medi-cal and food orders before Thursday 6th of September.

If you have any further questions regarding Dance Sport please do not hesitate to contact Ms Hatziantoniou.

Ballroom Dancing Update Stage 2 students have been working extremely hard with Ms Sherrie to perfect the dancing routine for the end of year Ballroom con-cert. They have been very busy over the past two terms learning two dance routines that are going to blow you away with their swift moves and incredible partnering skills.

The date of the Maroubra Bay Dance Spectacular concert is Mon-day September 24th 2018. It is the first time we are holding our concert externally at New South Wales University Science theatre building. All years from Kindergarten to Year 6 will be showcasing their dance. Tickets are on sale and are selling out fast. If you have-n’t already purchased a ticket use the link the link below:

https://www.eventbrite.com.au/e/maroubra-bay-public-school-dance-spectacular-tickets-47702700060 This link has also been sent out on Facebook and on the Skoolbag app. Please note the tickets are NOT NUMBERED and seating will be allocated on the concert night. It is important to note that every child (toddler) has a seat due to fire and evacuation regulations. There are concession tickets available for seniors and children. Students who are performing do not need a seat as they will be with their teacher during the performance.

Eco-Warrior News On Friday 27th July, our eco warriors had the opportunity to participate in National Tree day. It is Australia’s largest tree planting and nature care day. Tree Day is an oppor-tunity for students to do something positive for our communi-ty and the environment by connecting with nature.

Below are some comments from some of our eco warriors about the day:

Last week, we celebrated National tree planting day. All the eco warriors planted all dif-ferent types of plants including ferns and birds nest. We all had so much fun. We got to

use equipment like gloves and shovels to help us plant our trees. It was a very hot day but we didn’t give up. We planted them up the back of the school near the year one

rooms. I can’t wait to see them grow!

Nica – Eco-warrior for 4S

We each got a plant that was in a pot. Then we took it out and the teacher showed us how to do that. Then we dug a hole and we got to water it. It was fun.

Lina – 1H

Congratulations to all our eco warriors!

Sustainability tips from our Eco teachers Mrs Anstey & Miss Hamilton:

Switch off your lights and appliances Take reusable bags to the shops Minimise waste of packaging and materials

– refuse, reduce, reuse and recycle

On Tuesday 7th August, our eco warriors were presented with their

badges at assembly. What a fantastic and exciting day!
