eCongress News | November 2016 NSW Bridge Association | www.nswba.com.au 1 Dubbo Bridge Club 2016 Congress 15 – 16 OCTOBER 2016 (SAT – SUN) e programme: 15 October (Sat) Pairs 16 October (Sun) Swiss Teams Flowers, Food and Bridge in Dubbo by Kaye Hart J eff and I travelled to Dubbo for the bridge congress on the weekend of October 15/16. We arrived a couple of days before the congress and had a wonderful walk around the Taronga Western Plains Zoo and some great meals. We arrived at the congress, convened by Jane North with Michael Wilkinson directing, to be greeted by great country hospitality with a plethora of homemade breads, cakes, and slices. e Dubbo bridge club was decorated with a great array of flowers from local gardens presenting the players with a wonderful atmosphere. e pairs event held on the 15th was an enjoyable but challenging barometer event over 17 rounds and 54 boards. A pleasing aspect of the pairs competition was that the Restricted field played in a separate event over 11 rounds and 44 boards thereby providing these players with an event that suited their level of experience. Congratulations to the winners this year In the Open competition; 1st Peter Tarlinton and Tom Carr 2nd Anne Hazelton and Sanjay Sinha 3rd Kaye Hart and Jeff Carberry In the Restricted competition; 1st Sue Owens and Anne Rathbone 2nd Janet Francis and Shirley Ferrier 3rd Dulcie Taylor and Frank Cant Sunday saw 15 teams play in a Swiss movement with the overall results being; 1st Peter Perry, Phyllis Logan, David and Helene Lander 2nd Anne Hazelton, Sanjay Sinha, Tom Carr and Peter Tarlinton 3rd Bettyanne McFarland, Helen McQuie, Eileen Larsen and Natalie Burke Overall we had a wonderful time in Dubbo with good, challenging bridge, great hospitality and tasty lunches and snacks provided by the club. I can certainly recommend that you add this congress to your schedule for 2017. First and second place winners in the Open pairs. Jeff and I travelled to Dubbo for the bridge congress on the weekend of October 15/16.
