DUBAI

and the

ARCTICS

The city of Dubai is being built about 52 ft. above sea level, with its artificial island satellites only 17 ft.

above water.

In 2002, Antarctica’s “Larsen B” ice shelf disappeared within weeks

because of global warming.

Global warming is increasing rapidly, mainly due to carbon dioxide

from industry and cars, and since 1978 the ice sheets of the N. Pole and Greenland are melting fast.

Dubai, Abu Dhabi and their artificial island developments follow wasteful Western models of building and living, adding to the

pollution of the air and sea - and to global warming.

Melting is speeded up by the surface water pouring through deep holes (moulins) into sub-

glacial streams and lakes, which destabilize the ice from below

and push it faster into the oceans.

If Antarctica’s West ice sheet melts, sea level will raise 19 ft. and cover south Florida.

Melting of the East Antarctic ice sheet will raise sea level 170 ft., covering all of Florida.

The break up of Greenland’s ice sheet will raise the global sea level by another 24 ft.,

submerging all coasts and cities comparable to Florida and Miami, such as Dubai.

By the end of the 21st century,Dubai’s underwater hotel,

HYDROPOLIS,

may remain totally under water

FOREVER…
