Principal Accountabilities: I was moved into a central maintenance team in December of 2007 and we concentrate on un-scheduled maintenance to achieve reliability, quality & efficiency gains and progression towards an interdependent safety culture within our team.

Duties: Specific criteria and tasks performed in this position include- Assist in team leader roll, filling in on both day and night shift duties, reporting to a shift

superintendent, leading a crew of 6 in un-scheduled maintenance covering all aspects of the refinery.

Reliability HSE representative for our shift crew, attending meetings on days off in some instances, covering safety concerns within reliability/refinery.

Organise and execute HSE meetings weekly within our team, raising and resolving safety issue. Equipment maintained included FFE ball mills, backpressure stations; warman underflow pumps

and Gould overflow pumps, Vacuum pumps, High pressure blowing compressors, ship unloader and loading equipment, coal pulverizing mills, disc and drum product filters.

Overhaul PA and FD fans on the job and aligning the equipment. Remove and overhaul soot blowers, primary and secondary burner nozzles.

Fault finding instrumentation along with shift E & I technicians on control valves, flow tubes and rotork valves.

Fault finding on complex high pressure oil and pneumatic system for the ball Mills. Overhaul of fuel valves in the boiler house and calcinations gas system, replacing nozzles and leak

testing gas flanges before start-up. Extensive diagnosis of Aker Wirth triplex piston diaphragm pumps with a fault code panel and

automation charge system, identifying bypassing suction and discharge NRV’s and diagnosing failure of diaphragms before destructive failure. Diagnosis on the complex hydraulic system.

Overhaul and fault finding on Prime royal positive high pressure instrument pumps.

October 2006 – March 2007MECHANICAL INSPECTION FITTERNorth Curragh Overland Conveyor Construction, Blackwater

Principal Accountabilities: Inspect all mechanical equipment fitted during construction phase against engineering specifications and general quality of the fitting techniques. Creating punch lists of equipment that didn’t meet the contractual specifications.

Duties: Specific criteria and tasks performed in this position include- Checked alignments of carry and return idler frames using piano wire, trammels, smart level and

a board and square to check centerlines, heights, vertical and horizontal squareness, along a 22km conveyor belt using construction check sheets with tight tolerances.

Checked final alignment using dial indicators on high speed and low speed drives, assisting fitters to set the drives at a certain temperature to factor in thermal growth on the pulleys.

Read gearbox, brake systems and fluid coupling manuals to comprehend operation specifics. Checked that the correct lubrications, torques settings, shims and seals were purged where necessary, were all within specification as per the manuals.

Cross reference drawings to structural and mechanical construction layout. Checked labyrinth clearances on all 93 pulleys using feeler gauges. Removed at random plumber

block covers and checked bearing clearances and the correct lubrication was used and flanges were sealed correctly. Checked locking nuts were tightened and lock tabs were down and fixed and non-fixed rings were on the drive side of the conveyor belt.

August 2006 – October 2006MECHANICAL FITTER, Shutdown/maintenanceNRG Power station, Gladstone

Principal Accountabilities: Performed shutdown and maintenance tasks on mechanical equipment within the Pulverizing section of the coal fired power station.

Duties: Specific criteria and tasks performed in this position include- Overhauled and re-furbished coal pulverizing mills, replacing armored plates, which had to be

torque to the correct setting and die checked for cracks. Each armored plate had to be weighed and match marked with another armored plate to allow easy static balancing.

Built up worn areas with weld in the casing and bogged certain prone wear areas using a two part epoxy bog.

Overhaul fuel control valves, PA and FD fans. Laser aligned electric motor with mill. Overhauled the rotary turbine system. Static Balanced rotary mills using a specified weight and stop watch to cross reference to a chart to

verify the correct weight needed to balance the mill.

July 2006 – August 2006MECHANICAL FITTER, Shutdown Clyde Hitachi BabcockQueensland Aluminium Limited, Gladstone

Principal Accountabilities: Perform shutdown maintenance on mechanical equipment within the Boiler house section of the Aluminium refinery to meet a timeline schedule.

Duties Specific criteria and tasks performed in this position include-

Changed out air heater seals on both hot and cold side. Changed out all control valves and safety valves. Overhaul and remove primary and secondary burners. Remove and overhaul all soot blowers, fuel valves and gas nozzles. Gas leak test before commissioning the boiler upon return to service. Overhauled two coal feeders, changing out bearings, seals and drums where severely worn.

Principal Accountabilities: Perform shutdown maintenance on mechanical equipment in the materials handling section (Wharf), in the Aluminium refinery to meet a timeline schedule.

Duties: Specific criteria and tasks performed in this position include -

Overhauled mechanical drives drum and idler drum on bauxite unloading pan feeder. Changed out drive chains, rollers and return rollers, flights and sprockets. Aligned hydraulic drive

system and tensioned chain. Changed out trolley tracks and overhauled trolleys.

January 2006 – June 2006Mechanical Fitter & Turner, Precipitation north crewQueensland Aluminium Limited, Gladstone

Principal Accountabilities: Responsible for performing maintenance tasks within a new crew creating an interdependence culture with regards to safety and setting maintenance systems.

Duties: Specific criteria and tasks performed in this position include -

Working to Safe Work Procedures, involved with QSAFE observation cards and Job Safe Practice cards.

Working independently and in team situations.

Job planning. Quality control of overhauls and maintenance job sheets. General maintenance of pumps, gearboxes, filters tables; filter drums and agitators, which

included rebuilding all these equipments listed along with laser alignment of motors and gearboxes.
