Row14 was created in 2009 by the Enter Group - who also run the Monegros Desert festival - to deliver an unsurpassable dance music experience. Situated near Barcelona airport, it was originally open on Fridays and Saturdays. It wasn’t until the owners had a flash of inspiration during Sonar 2010 and decided to throw open their doors to eager clubbers one Sunday afternoon that the Elrow parties were born. These events soon become a weekly fixture in the city’s clubbing calendar, with the occasional drum’n’bass and dubstep affair on a Saturday. The rest of the time it’s a straight-up menu of tech-house, minimal and deep techno. It counts Paco Osuna, Joseph Capriati and Riva Starr as regulars, while household names like Luciano, Laurent Garnier, Loco Dice, Richie Hawtin, Andy C and Tiga have all graced its decks. Inside you’ll find a state-of-the-art soundsystem, spacious dancefloor and relaxed lounge area around the Row Bar, while the open air terrace means you can let loose under the Spanish sun. Doors are open 5pm - 5am and entry is a very reasonable 18€, complete with complimentary drink. The Amau family who own the club have been running events for three generations, and the promoters go to great lengths to ensure each party has a personal touch, with themed decorations and live performances. A high point was their recent carnival celebration, where Simian Mobile Disco played to a technicolour crowd of 3000 ravers in fancy dress. But don’t worry if you’ve come in shorts and t-shirt, a casual dress code puts the emphasis firmly on having a good time, a philosophy they describe as “no pretentious bullshit”. In fact the only thing you need to bring to the club is a passion for keeping the weekend alive.
