Thursday 21 February - Book Club Due W elcome to our many new students and their families who have joined the Drummond School community. We look forward to working with you and teaching your children. T his week is once again a busy week for staff and students. Mrs Eastlake - the Early Stage One (Kindy) teacher and Mrs Harris, the Stage 1 - 1/2 teacher, will commence their professional learning in the L3 program. This program is designed to explicitly teach literacy skills in small groups so students are receiving individual teaching. Mrs Walsh will continue her training in this program this year. T his Wednesday the whole school has an opportunity to attend the recycling plant located at the Armidale Recycling and Waste Facilities. Thank you Mrs Walsh for arranging for all students to visit to see what happens to the recycling once it is collected from your homes. This is part of the students’ unit on Sustainability. Please sign the permission note and return it to school as soon as possible so buses can be booked. The school will be covering the bus fee. W ednesday night we will be hosting a “Meet and Greet” parent and student information evening. We will start with a free BBQ at 5.30, then move to the library at 6.15. This year I’m asking the students to take and show you their classroom. Since parents have more than one room to visit, the class visits will be informal. This will allow your child time to show you their room, seating and work. Each teacher will be sending home an introduction letter to their class explaining their expectations and any required materials your child may need. Due to our funding we provide most items for your child so the list is very short. Please come along and share in this school/community event to start the year. The whole family is welcome. A note came home Friday asking about number of sausages required. There will be beef and Halal chicken available so please send the note back tomorrow so the ordering can be completed. Please come along and let your child show case their classroom and work. A ll students were able to participate in the Life Education Van program and visit the new van. The students participated in the new program which has only been released this year. This program meets some of the curriculum content of the Personal Development, Health and Physical Education syllabus. Please ask your child to describe the lesson and explain some of the concepts which they discussed. H ave a wonderful week and remember, if you have any questions please come and see your child’s class teacher. We encourage parents to take an active interest in their child’s education and school. Harlequins Hockey Club

Harlequins Hockey Club are seeking expressions of inter-est from players interested in playing junior hockey this year. We will be fielding teams in Under 9s, 11s, 13s and 15s. Girls can play in all divisions and boys are welcome to play in the under 9 and 11s competition.
