Precleaning filtration for improved engine performance
Cummins Filtration has introduced Fleetguard® Self-Cleaning Precleaners, a technology designed to extend air filter life, improve engine performance and lower maintenance expenses.
The precleaners work during the first stage of an air intake system to prevent heavier-than-air particles from entering the system. The precleaners, which are available in single and dual stage options, can be used for a range of off-road applications, including construction, mining, forestry, landfills, farming, and military.
The polymer construction combined with the sealed bearing
chamber allow the precleaners to withstand the harshest environments, including extreme cold. According to Cummins, Fleetguard® is the only precleaner on the market that is effective against snow.
Eight models of single-stage precleaners in sizes 2 inch-8 inch cover an air flow range of 10-1,800 CFM with single unit installation, and higher air flow capacity with multiple unit installations. The single stage unit is self-cleaning and requires little maintenance and the dual stage precleaner is available in sizes, 6 inch and 8 inch, and offers an air flow range of 400-1,800
CFM with single unit installation. The dual stage option requires an engine exhaust scavenging connection and comes with a removable cover for easy access to inspect and clean.
Erika Motlow, director of Aftermarket Product Management for Cummins Filtration commented: “Fleetguard air precleaners utilise patented technology that allows the removal of all kinds of mixed debris, including mud, snow, rain, leaves, sawdust, chaff, and dust that can enter the system, shorten filter life, and cause harm to the engine.”

Baghouse pressure transmitters with non-clogging designFilterSense has launched the Model DP 20T (differential) and SP 20T (static) pressure transmitters. Both of which have a non-clogging design for mounting on the dirty side of a fabric filter baghouse or cartridge style dust collector. FilterSense says the transmitters
are more reliable than tube style electronic and mechanical gauges.
The transmitters feature a large, flush ceramic diaphragm that is abrasion resistant and fights against clogging. Both configurations are available in ranges including 0-10
inch WC (water column) and 0-20 inch WC.
FilterSense has introduced the Particulate CEM (continuous emissions monitor) for monitoring particulate emissions from fabric filter baghouses, cartridge type
dust collectors, cyclones and some electrostatic precipitators. The monitor, which meets environmental regulations and standards can measure particulate levels down to 0.1mg/m3.

Drop tube extensions for air cleanersDonaldson Company has announced the availability of its new drop tube extensions for Donaldson SRG, SSG Donaclone™ and PowerCore® PSD air cleaners.
The ‘Dust Dumpa’ drop tube extension’s rubber connector vibrates during normal vehicle operation, and gravity then expels the pre-cleaned dust down through the Donaldson Vacuator™ valve.
The drop tube extensions feature improved dust evacuation from the air cleaner, and a clear tube allows for immediate visual inspections. The drop tubes are also safe for air cleaner inspections as they eliminate the need for ladders or elevated platforms, making walk around inspections possible. In September this year the company showcased the new drop tube extensions at the MINEXPO show in Las Vegas, USA.
