your own report. https://forms.gle/ZQEG4YhpNRxFUDBh6
Perfecting your "Elevator Pitch" Mariasole Bannò DIMI from November to May hrs: Language: Italian/English
Purpose of Doctorate is not only to provide technical knowledge, but to transfer a method to solve new and different problems. Numerous studies have raised serious concerns about widening the gap between graduate skills and the needs of the job market in an increasingly globalized society. Same concern is found in the European 2020 Strategy. Arts-based methods aim to teach through mechanisms in which the use of art reach hidden knowledge that are difficult to achieve through logic and simple rational thought. Art helps to broaden the vision of real problem and this implies the acquisition of many different non-technical skills. When using Theatre Teaches the major skills concern the cognitive ones. there is a significant potential to improve students’ communicative competencies through theatre creativity. The final output of the course is to perfect students’ elevator pitch. Elevator pitch is a slang term used to describe a brief speech that outlines an idea for a product, service or project. The name comes from the notion that the speech should be delivered in the short time period of an elevator ride, usually 60 seconds. https://forms.gle/Th1dttngGN4xN1c57

Multiscale physics in energy Davide Picchi DIMI 28, 30 January 4, 6 February 14:00-17:00 Language: English
Energy sustainability and decarbonization are the main challenges that our society has to face in the coming 30 years. As engineers, we must develop new solutions to reduce the environmental impacts of the recovery of natural resources and to support the transition to renewables. Among these new challenges, the design of carbon sequestration, geothermal, and thermal energy storage technologies require a fundamental understanding of the physics behind fluid flow, reactive transport, and heat transfer in porous media.
In this course, we will delineate the fundamental multi-scale dynamics of flow in porous materials with a focus on applications. First, (i) we will examine the governing equations at the pore-scale and, then, (ii) we will derive multi-scale models that we will apply to different scenarios. We will see some practical examples (e.g., the stimulation of geothermal energy) and how these results can be generalized in different contexts, including new-generation chemical reactions, batteries, and filtration technologies. https://forms.gle/M37u8JR4RGBNFLFu8
