RECONNAISSANCE

When obtaining detailed information about the area of operation the possible presence of chemical vapors, biological aerosols or similar volatile risks can be dangerous for the team and can threaten the success of the mission. Therefore, it is crucial to identify the released agents as soon as possible. To avoid exposure to chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear (CBRNe) threats the reconnaissance teams should wear appropriate personal protective equipment.

DECONTAMINATION AND DISPOSAL RESPIRATORY PROTECTION PROTECTIVE CLOTHING

Saving lives is the first priority in the event of a CBRNe incident. Independent of civil or defense scenario the affected community has to be protected to reduce the risk of exposure.

For the immediate operational response the hazard has to be identified and medical treatment of casualties prepared. The response team has to protect themselves against all kinds of CBRNe threats to be able to react rapidly and unconditionally to the event.

Decontamination and disposal of contaminated materials is an enormous task requiring the dedication of a large amount of time, qualified personnel and an appropriate protection solution.

During the removal of hazardous material, personnel have to be protected against the decontamination agents as well as against contaminated materials with respiratory and skin protection.

In an insecure environment, even breathing can be a risky business. Whether for stationary or mobile use Dräger tailors the required system to your specific application. With our high quality NBC protection systems Dräger offers effective protection against threats, such as respirable dust, contaminated particles, aerosols, bacteria, viruses, toxins, chemical warfare agents (CWAs) and toxic industrial chemicals (TICs).

The innovative filter system works with three consecutive filter levels: a coarse dust separator removes up to 98% of the coarse dust, and feeds it directly back into the external atmosphere. In the second level, special filter papers ensure that even the smallest particles of biological substances are retained. The remaining gases are bound by active carbon.

In addition to customized protection solutions Dräger offers fixed and portable gas monitoring systems in order to measure the air purity (e.g. O2, CO) in a non-contaminated area such as shelters.

SECURE SHELTER AGAINST INVISIBLE ENEMIES

With the growing threat posed by biological and chemical weapons, forces are increasingly asked to quickly and correctly identify hazardous substances.

Dräger Chemical Warfare Agent (CWA) tube sets have been designed for rapid, problem-free detection of toxic gases and vapors. Two sets, each consisting of five Dräger tubes, form simple-to-use standard equipment for detecting chemical warfare agents – thus ensuring you can proceed safely.

Furthermore, Dräger provides robust and waterproof portable detection instruments for the measurement of up to 6 gases. Your personnel can easily be alarmed when explosive, flamable and toxic gases and vapors such as phosgene, chlorine, hydrogen cyanide etc. are present.

Hazardous substances database www.draeger.com/voice provides information on laboratory-supported user information and hazardous substances, which could arise during a dangerous situation.

BREATHING GAS SUPPLY

Before the mission starts the airplane has to be fully charged with oxygen. With the U 4000 mobile oxygen supply trolley you can easily refill the required amount of oxygen up to 60,000 l (300 bar). A fixed installed oxygen storage combined with the Dräger Oxygen Booster (DOB) removes the need for an exchange of cylinders. As this is a fixed installation, the potential contamination of the system or a failure in the connection (leakage) will be avoided. Nearly every combat plane can be connected according to STANAG 3296 to the U 4000. Additional adapters can be ordered on demand.
