    1. Exposition: The opening scene, which introduces theplace, characters, and situation that the dreamer willfacethe issue or problem as expressed through metaphor.

    2. Development: The emergence of the plot.

    3. Culmination: Something significant occurs, and the maincharacter responds.

    4. Lysis: The result or solution of the dreams action. Thelysis signifies how the dreamer might deal with theproblem or issue that was expressed during the expositionstage. In effect, the work of the dream has produced asolution or result for the dreamer.

    1.Ordinary World: This is where the Hero's exists beforeher present story begins.

    2. Call To Adventure: The Hero's adventure begins when

    she receives a call to action. It ultimately disrupts thecomfort of the Hero's Ordinary World and presents achallenge or quest that must be undertaken.

    3. Refusal Of The Call: Although the Hero may be eagerto accept the quest, at this stage she will have fears thatneed overcoming.

    4. Meeting The Mentor: At this crucial turning point wherethe Hero desperately needs guidance he meets a mentorfigure who gives him something he needs.

    5. Crossing The Threshold: The Hero is now ready to actupon his call to adventure and truly begin his quest,whether it be physical, spiritual or emotional.

    6. Tests, Allies, Enemies: Now finally out of his comfortzone the Hero is confronted with an ever more difficultseries of challenges that test him in a variety of ways.

    7. Approach The Cave:The inmost cave may represent many

    things in the Hero's story such as an actual location in whichlies a terrible danger or an inner conflict which up until now theHero has not had to face.

    8. Ordeal: The Supreme Ordeal may be a dangerous physical

    test or a deep inner crisis that the Hero must face in order tosurvive or for the world in which the Hero lives to continue toexist.

    9. Reward (The Treasure Hand to Find): After defeating the

    enemy, surviving death and finally overcoming her greatestpersonal challenge, the Hero is ultimately transformed into anew state, emerging from battle as a stronger person and oftenwith a prize.

    10. The Road Back: Now she must return home with herreward but this time the anticipation of danger isreplaced with that of acclaim and perhaps vindication,

    absolution or even exoneration.

    11. Resurrection: This is the climax in which the Heromust have her final and most dangerous encounter withdeath. The final battle also represents something far

    greater than the Hero's own existence with its outcomehaving far-reaching consequences to her Ordinary

    World and the lives of those she left behind.

    12. Return With The Elixir: This is the final stage of theHero's journey in which she returns home to herOrdinary World a changed person. She will have grownand learned many things, faced many terrible dangersand even death but now looks forward to the start of anew life.
