Draft Land Use Option 1
Land Use Options represent different visions for how we might use the land and resources. Each one represents a different level of development vs. protection. The purpose of the 5 options is to encourage discussions on overall land use priorities and allow people to see what those decisions might look like on a final land use map. The text describes the “vision” each of these options represents. These options are not final and will be revised based on feedback from communities and planning partners. The current land withdrawals are included to show the current state of the Deh Cho.
The options were created by overlaying conservation-based land uses with development-based land uses, then changing the “weight” of each land use. The importance of different land uses within each option is reflected in three possible zones: ! Conservation Zone - to protect traditional use and important ecological areas! Multiple Use Zone - resource development permitted as per existing regulations! Uncertain Zone - where development and conservation uses have equal weight and no clear priority exists. In future
these may become Special Management Zones.
