Dr Syed Aziz Pasha
Dr Pasha is the founding General Secretary of the Union of Muslim Organisations (UMO), established in 1970. He was born in Arkot, South India on 10th July 1930. He graduated in law from the University of Madras and was an advocate in the Madras High Court. Proceeding to higher studies in the United States, he obtained an LLM at the University of Wisconsin and was awarded a doctorate in juridical science (SJD) by the New York University. In 1963 he served as an advisor to the Indian delegation to the United Nations. Since arriving in Britain in 1965 he has been working devotedly for the betterment and well-being of Muslims and their rights. In addition to his duties at UMO, between 1973-83 he served as President of the Indian Muslim Federation UK.
