One Pastor’s Thoughts

Easter is April 16. Almost every-one you know that isn’t regularly

attending a church will want to be in worship on East-er Sunday. There are times when Christians wonder if we are being pushy inviting someone to church. Easter isn’t one of those times. We are planning four worship experiences on Easter Sunday. Along with our regular 8:30 Blended, 9:45 Bridge and 11:00 Traditional Services, we will have a Sonrise Service on Easter morning at 7:00 am in the paved parking lot next to the sanctuary. Bring a lawn chair and join this beautiful way to start Easter Sunday. Lent and Holy Week are means of preparing for the Celebration of Easter. Don’t miss Palm Sunday, Maundy Thursday, or Good Friday. Journey with Jesus into Jerusalem. Welcome Him on Palm Sunday, commune with Him on Maundy Thursday and experience the darkness of Good Friday. Then Celebrate. Dr. Scott Youngblood

To Everyone – In Psalm 100 it is written - Shout for joy to the Lord, all the earth. Worship the Lord with gladness; come before him with joyful songs. Now is the best time to prepare to come to worship on Sunday mornings. Now is the best time to invite someone to join you.

Thank you to our Children’s Choir members who sang so beautifully during worship this past Sunday. You are a blessing. Healing and Wholeness service - Thank you to all who came, who prayed, who prepared for the service, who led in worship. April Sermons

Overnight prayer vigil begins at 8:00 pm on Good Friday, April 14.

We will begin gathering in the Sanctuary after the Good Friday Service at 8 pm for prayer through the night. The Sanctuary will be open all night long and people will be able to sign up to pray during one hour time blocks. There will be times of silent prayer, corporate prayer, reading from the bible and soft music. Sign up sheets will be available on Sunday and online soon! I would like to encourage each of you to join a growing group of people who will be there ALL NIGHT. This is a time for solemn prayer as we reflect on the death of Jesus. It will be an incredible experience to pray with others for an extended amount of time. As I pondered this idea I felt the Holy Spirit say to me "Will no one stay awake with me?" To which I replied, "I will!" Please join me for a night of "being still and knowing." Feel free to contact me with questions at Julie Clark 817-800-3465

“I have seen the Lord!” exclaimed Mary, and she told them all Jesus had said to her. In the Gospel of John, Mary is a witness to the tragic events of Holy Week.

Then, on Easter morning, she sees the risen Jesus. What is her response? She runs to tell her friends all that she had heard and seen. This experience of Jesus’ mighty deeds, His teaching, His suffering, His death and resurrection; experiencing these miracles first-hand created instant disciples and evangelists. Mary saw. Mary believed. Mary shared. The Easter Experience for Kidz is designed to help the many children who will visit Easter morning, to experience the events of Holy Week. They will taste parts of the Seder meal and are involved as Jesus changes the meaning of this meal forever. The children will walk alongside Jesus and His disciples through the many trials of that week, and will experience the joy and the great love of God at Jesus’ resurrection! The children will be given a hands-on opportunity to see, hear and believe. Perhaps they will be inspired to learn more and share the amazing love they experience with others!

This is a huge undertaking! It’s time for all-hands-on-deck! We are looking for people willing to shepherd a small group of children through the experience at either 9:45 or 11:00 a.m. This is an easy assignment; and it is guaranteed to deepen your own experience of Easter in the process. Please email me; [email protected] to volunteer an hour of your time to help children become disciples and evangelists like Mary! You will be glad you did!

Confirmation Sunday is April 30th! Six students make up the class of 2017: Patrick Amond, Joshua Burton, Kemper Gingerich, Bailey Phillips, Blake Phillips, and Ryan Webster. We will all celebrate their discipleship journey together in ONE SERVICE at 10:00 a.m. April 30th. Please consider writing them a note of encouragement and welcoming them into the Family of God which grows together at FUMC Azle.

You are a warm and loving congregation; it is a pleasure to serve you. Pastor Carol B. Roberts Associate Pastor to Children and Family [email protected]

On Easter morning we will have a hospitality area in the lower atrium for our members and guests. If you would like to provide some tasty treats, please let me know. Or, if you have time to help welcome guests and keep the area stocked & clean, we would love to have your help!

We look forward to spending the morning with you and greeting the community as they choose to worship with us at FUMC Azle.

Hey everyone, We talked about how we can show God’s love and not forgive others, and we found out pretty quick that it's impossible. That forgiveness is one of the biggest pillars that holds up our Christianity. Those to whom grace is extended should also extend grace, and those to whom forgiveness is extended should also extend forgiveness.

Men’s Ministry Retreat – What does that mean anyway?? Are you squeamish about the term ‘Retreat’? For some, the term Retreat has a connotation associated with an extended time away that is very orchestrated and structured with little time to one’s self. Hmmm, that doesn’t quite capture the true meaning. The dictionary defines ‘Retreat’ as “an act of moving back or withdraw-ing” (noun). Now, that’s a little closer, but still not quite right. This past Sunday, Lisa Meyer hit the nail-on-the-head when she said, “You-all just need some “Guy-Time”.

PERFECT!! Guy-Time, why didn’t I think of that! “Guy-Time” is great way to say it, but it is truly about leaving the many activities and commitments that occupy our time in order to ‘re-charge’ our physical / mental batteries or simply to ‘Chill-Out’. This year’s Men Retreat will be planned and loosely structured providing many opportunities for relaxation and ‘free time’ to enjoy a very beautiful setting with a great Group of guys. Think of these key Retreat phrases: fellowship, amazing food, faith, fishing, campfire, more food, a nap, devotion, outdoor movie, starlit nights, snoring, new friends, more fishing, horseshoes, Frisbee golf, hiking, and much more. Please consider attending or be sure to invite anyone you know who might like to attend. Men’s Retreat dates: April 28 – 30 Lake Bridgeport John Potts 817 437-0185

Revive Texas is a ministry that started 10 years ago as “Time to Revive” that began sowing the seeds of revival in Dallas under a tent on Gaston Avenue. In the years since, God has expanded the vision to encompass revival in all 50 states. Time to Revive has unified, mobilized and equipped churches in over 14 states to share the Gospel, literally hitting the streets to pray for people and share the Good News of Jesus! Revive TX is currently casting the vision to over 4500 churches in the Dallas/Ft Worth area to join in this April as we gather together and “hit the streets” with the

Gospel message. The DFW area has been broken down into 10 regions. We are in the black region. Each region has a base church, ours is Lighthouse Fellowship on Robinson Road between Boat Club road and Ten Mile Bridge Rd. in Ft. Worth. We are one of 10 churches that will feed a lunch meal and our day to feed is Wednesday. Carol Elkins has volunteered to cook and is assembling a crew if you would like to assist. This is a typical daily schedule: 7:00am - (Mon-Thur) Prayer Time at Lighthouse Fellowship (Friday & Sat) Inspiring Body of Christ Church 7701 S. Westmoreland Ave. Dallas, TX 75237. 8:00am - Breakfast (Mon-Thur) at Lighthouse Fellowship (Friday & Sat) Inspiring Body of Christ Church 7701 S. Westmoreland Ave. Dallas, TX 75237. 9:00am - Organize into teams and go out to pray for churches 12:00pm - ( Mon-Thur) Noon Time Prayer at church providing lunch; we have Wednesday 1:00pm - Lunch 2:00pm - Organize into teams and go out to pray for people 5:30pm – (Mon-Thur) Supper at Lighthouse Fellowship (Friday & Sat) Inspiring Body of Christ Church 7701 S. Westmoreland Ave. Dallas, TX 75237. 7:00pm – Evening Prayer and Worship (Mon-Thur) Lighthouse Fellowship (Friday & Sat) Inspiring Body of Christ Church 7701 S. Westmoreland Ave. Dallas, TX 75237. As you can see the schedule is very involved and full, but you don’t have to plug into each day for 50 days you can do one day or even as little as one hour. Go to prayer at 7:00, eat breakfast, then go to work. Go to lunch and hear testimonies then go back to work or stay to pray as we go out into the streets. Go to the evening service and get juiced on the spirit as we sing and praise God with like minded Christians. Do as little or as much as you like but don’t just sit at home! God is calling you to be a witness for him; please answer the call. Any questions ask one of the staff members or email Ken Leemon, [email protected]
